Oh, what a breath of fresh air! My heart soared to long ago, to ladies in lengthy gowns and gentlemen at their side. All was peace, love, and an inspired splendor. Thanks so much for taking me temporarily away from the noise and confusion of the present day.

Incredible voice with such poise, dynamic control and perfect tuning in a very exposed song. This lady is a star.

I dreamt I dwelt in marble halls
With vassals and serfs at my side,
And of all who assembled within those walls
That I was the hope and the pride.
I had riches all too great to count
    And a high ancestral name.
But I also dreamt which pleased me most
That you loved me still the same,
    That you loved me
You loved me still the same,
    That you loved me
You loved me still the same.
I dreamt that suitors sought my hand,
    That knights upon bended knee
And with vows no maidens heart could withstand,
They pledged their faith to me.
And I dreamt that one of that noble host
Came forth my hand to claim.
But I also dreamt which charmed me most
That you loved me still the same
    That you loved me
You loved me still the same,
    That you loved me
You loved me still the same.

I was born in County Down (Bangor) and spent several family holidays in the Mourne Mountains. So I am biased towards this, I’m sure. But to me the simplicity of the setting (a church hall, is it?), the reduced but so rich group of players, and above all the exquisite purity of the soprano make this an ideal rendering of the song, nicely balanced between its operatic origin and the parlor song it became. It is simply gorgeous.

I saw Ms Boyle in Tales of Hoffman in Dublin 2018. Truly amazing performance. I wish I could hear her here in the US. Would love to hear her sing “ Quando m’en vo”

You do realise, don't you, that this aria is actually from an opera?

I wish she hadn’t changed the original tune . Good singer though.

Muy buena interpretación, muy buena voz, muy educada..... Pero sigue siendo inigualable el sentimiento que le imparte Enya.

      Joan Southerland was more sensitive

I kinda see your point. Joan Sutherland has a command of an operatic voice that is on another level. What I do like though is that Claudia Boyle enunciates in a way that is easier to understand the words. I listened to a couple of versions by Joan Sutherland and I think, unlike many singers, she just got better as she got aged. Loved both singers. As I was comparing the two I played them both together, with Claudia first and Joan ( th-cam.com/video/yebOy5Ne6bQ/w-d-xo.html ) a beat behind, great listen. @@italiantraditionalcatholic2390
