Well keep in mind the "Going in Blind". Our thoughts are based on one hour of a TV adaptation with no reference to any source material. I'm sure we both changed our analysis of what One Piece is about by the end of the show, and will change again when we read the manga.
Season 1 covers 95 Chapters/11 volumes out of 1098 Chapters/106 volumes and counting. The section of story covered by season 1 is known as essentially 1 big prologue Hope you 2 read the manga after finishing the Live Action
Whoa thanks for this. I was curious as to how much of the books get covered in the first season. I will give it a read at some point but it is an investment for sure.
One of main reasons why Oda created One Piece is because he want to make people laugh and have fun. Even though there's so much happening in the current story/manga, he always never forget his reason. That's why i really love the story.
In the source material, Luffy calls kobi weak and cowardly and hates his type, so when confronted with Alveda, all the the trash talk Luffy says in the live action, is actually said kobi. CPT Morgan's jaw got busted up it's a brace
So much fun seeing you guys react to this show!! I also went in completely blind and I think it was around episode 3 that I got fully hooked. As for the accent of Luffy not matching between young/old, I think that accent is the natural way that the older actor speaks. Still, they could've tried finding a younger actor with an accent as well. Not a big issue in the grand scheme of things tho, there's so much to enjoy!! I think the action remained a bit too heavy for my personal liking all throughout, yet the characters were still built up SO well that I ultimately didn't mind. Curious to see how you guys will feel! Happy watching 🤩
For the characters I thought they did a really good job! There was a few that didn't land with me at first but by the end of s1 I think they all really got the characters down. There's a lot of interesting characters you'll meet down the road and this series REALLY excels in character development so I wont spoil anything but some of the characters you talk about have such unbelievable transformations that have been the topic of many a video essay. But the anime/manga is full of so much absurd things I was worried how they'd keep that in the show and thought they did a great job!
Yeah I'm getting hooked with the episodes I've seen. Excited to see if any of my predictions of characters is true or not. I may have to read the manga now at some point.
@@CNavo.TheNextChapter it's absolutely worth checking out. They had to condense so much to get season 1 to end where it does you wouldn't feel like you're re treading old ground compared to the show
Im so interested in who described One Piece as “pirate satire”? I’ve never heard that before and hopefully I never do again lol

There's no way you get less action in One Piece manga or liveaction. It is an action adventure manga. Fights are core in shounen battle manga.
I'm ok with fight sequences especially in the manga when I get to it.

I can totally see this. It was a solid start (at least the Netflix show). I may look into reading the manga after the show is over. Thanks for sharing

That's good to know. I was ready to start episode 2 right after watching the first. So I'm definitely hooked.
