    Learning fusion is not easy, it's not very intuitive. I really appreciate what you're doing and it's helped me break through the beginner barrier for the application. So thanks again and keep up the good work!

    Horribly confusing and didn't work. My polylines have like 30 points I added the first 4 and it just messed up the lines and didn't track at all.

    I am brand new to Davinci and this is a great video. On my first test with this I am doing it on a land I droned well it was a large area and I did not know when started the tracking it would take so long. So I am at 34 min to wait to see how it worked. I think I may just start with a small box if this does not work so I won't have to wait so long for it to finish tracking.

    Good afternoon. Lately I've been following your tutorials on Davinci, I do it at an amateur level and not as a professional. In addition to cameras, I have a drone, and I have become increasingly interested in retouching photographs and videos. As I am a beginner in this program and I am in the learning stage, I have not yet started using it, for now I am collecting information on how things are done.
    Regarding the method you use to mark the limits of this property in the tutorial, I would like to know what you think of the following method carried out in Fusion: *Make a Planartracker to the surface. *Generate a Planartransform. *Create a white Background, for example, on this previous one. *Now on the Background a Bspline is created to create an area, and in its menu the "Solid" option is deactivated, leaving only the edges of the area. In this menu, the movement or shape of the edge is also corrected in the "Position" and "Length" options. And then a couple more corrections can be made. What do you think about this ?
    All the best and thanks for your tutorials.

    If I take a clip that I want to do an overlay and make it a Fusion clip and then way down the line in editing I decide to do away with the overlay, is it possible to take a "fusion clip" back to the normal clip (ie h.264). Or do you have to delete the fusion clip and bring the video clip back in? Any reason for leaving or not leaving the clip as a fusion clip even though the overlay is no longer desired? Thanks a bunch for your videos and your templates. They have been a HUGE help!!

  • @tomdchi12
    @tomdchi12 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In this example, one of your points was directly on the manhole (dark spot) in the road. That might not matter to this "client". Is there a way to offset where the graphics appear so that your "parking lot" doesn't extend into the road, but the point moves correctly (perspective shift/parallax)?

    • @totalbaddie
      @totalbaddie 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can use the X Offset and Y Offset to have a real no fuss solution. The only problem is that the Offset part of the tracker moves in an angular way if that makes any sense. You'd really just have to use it to see what I mean.
      You could also just play around with addition and subtraction in the expression to get it just right.

    • @johnfromleeds
      @johnfromleeds 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From other examples I'd imagine that the trackers have X and Y values. When he is editing the expression the original values seemed to be of the format point(x,y) which Justin replaced with trackerdata.trackingcenter3 which I assume returns a point. I'd imagine that in the expression you could change this to something like point(trackerdata.trackingcenter3 .x + offset_x,trackerdata.trackingcenter3 .y + offset_y). The X / Y values may be called something else but I bet they are available as fusion seems so flexible.
      However, in the user guide (p1054) they mention the Tracker Offset control which seems to address what you want. This has the advantage that you can set key frames so that the offsets can change as the clip progresses which I imagine could create some very nice effects.

    Hey JayAre, thanks for your great videos! I have a problem and I'm not sure if it is a bug in Davinci Resolve or if I'm doing something wrong. Watching your video, I noticed, you have it, too! Maybe you can shed some light on this. As soon as I connect one of the published points to a tracker, the RAM caching breaks. Before the point is connected, if you play the Fusion clip the first time, it is slow. Usually, the green bar under the picture fills up during the first time, and if you play it a second time, it is cached and plays much faster. However, when I connect one of the polyline points to the tracker, either using expressions or the "Connect to" menu, the green line never fills up. Only tiny green pieces appear and disappear immediately. When you go back to the edit page, the caching is indicated by the red line, that changes to blue eventually. But it never does, when I have connected points. Instead it resets itself again and again. So I never get the real time playback performance. What can I do?

  • @RBztudio
    @RBztudio 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great tutorial mate..
    But quick one..you had turn that part of the 4k video into 1920×1080 to work better in fusion .. I guess if you're going to export in 1920×1080 to your client shouldn't be any dramas about quality in terms of resolution but what about if you must export it in 4k ??
    You should probably notice in that part of the video a lower solution, shouldn't you????

  • @tedstriker5991
    @tedstriker5991 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Okay, I think I figured out a way for Davinci Resolve 17. You can create your shape in a paint node. Highlight points in viewer, right click a point, publish to tracker. It places a tracker node. Click off the nodes so you can manipulate the tracker before the paint node (they are both selected at first). Thing is, I think it must use the paint points as the tracking points. The method in Jay's video also changes the paint points to the tracker points in DR 17. I have yet to discover if you can use separate tracking points yet. So you may have to make your tracker boxes bigger to make them track better. If the tracking starts acting up in a section or if it goes off screen, open spline and find the troublesome tracking keyframes (little padlocks). Highlight and delete. Right click the good points in spline and use Gradiant Extrapolation. It tries to match the movement before and after the tracking keyframes. Make sure you select the correct tracking point in spline first.

    • @tedstriker5991
      @tedstriker5991 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Found something I like better. In Fusion use the Planar Tracker. You may need to experiment with the tracking options. I found perspective worked for me. Once you've had it track the area, switch to corner pin operation. Attach a background. You can move the shape using the planar tracker green lines over the video. On the corner pin turn alpha gain all the way down. On the background drag the brightness bar down toward black and it will be a light, transparent colored highlight over the ground. You can also use sRectangle and sRender on a corner pin. Or you can add a mask to the background color to make it a non-solid color shape. You can add more corner pins and highlight multiple areas on the video, all with the one planar tracker node. You can also play with the subtractive/additive slider on the planar tracker to get the color effect you like for each pinned media.
