These people think someone living 1400 years ago should wait until they're over 18 to marry when the average life expectancy at the time was 40-50 with a very high chance of you dying in wars or through a common disease or infection. If I was a father at 25 and had a 9 year old daughter with the constant threat of dying at any time the utmost important thing for me would be to find a suitable person for her. Well, Islam and Quran does not know rape even in the marital sex. Because the woman cannot say no to her husband. So one can say that she did not oppose. But she can still go to the police in any western country and say she was raped because she was forced to sex by threat of being beaten for disobedience or by threat of ending up in hell. Simple matter is that societies had different mores in different times. In India and many other countries child marriages happened. Even some 70 years ago child marriages were common. Many historians report that Hazrat Aisha was ten years younger than her elder sister Hazrat Asma[7]. Two acclaimed historical books namely Tahdhib-al-Tahdhib and Al-Bidaya wa’l-Nihaya report that Hadhrat Asma died at the age of hundred in 73 AH[8]. Calculating from this, it becomes evident that Hadhrat Asma was about 27 or 28 years of age at the time of the Prophet’s migration to Medina. This puts Hazrat Asma at the age of 28 or 29 at the time of Hazrat Aisha’s marital consummation, which occurred in 2 AH. All of these facts indicate that Hazrat Aishara should have been 18 or 19 years of age at the time when her marriage was consummated. Although this perspective makes more sense historically than the nine-year narrative, it still cannot be said that this is the most accurate understanding of Hazrat Aisha’s age. Second Perspective: Age of around 14 years Another perspective is that Hazrat Aishara was around 14 years of age when her marriage was consummated, which seems to be the most accurate understanding in this regard. There are many pieces of evidence from history that almost assert this fact to a level of certainty. First evidence: Tabari in his treatise on Islamic history reports that Hazrat Abu Bakrra had four children and all four were born during the pre-Islamic period[9]. If Hazrat Aishara was born before Islam, her age could not have been less than 14 years in 2 A.H. Second evidence: According to Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, Hazrat Fatimara was five years older than Hazrat Aisha. Hazrat Fatima is reported to have been born when the Holy Prophetsa was 35 years old[10]. The Holy Prophetsa migrated to Medina when he was 52, making Hazrat Aisha 14 or 15 years old in 2 A.H. Third evidence: A narration regarding Hazrat Aisha’s participation in the battle of Uhud can be found in Sahih Bukhari, which is as follows: Hazrat Anasra reports, on the day of Uhud, people could not stand their ground around the Holy Prophetsa. On that day, I saw Aishara and Umm-i-Sulaimra that they had pulled their dress up from their feet to avoid any hindrance in their movement. The Holy Prophetsa had not permitted Ibn Umarra to participate in the same battle because of his young age. Hence, it is reported: Ibn Umarra states, the Holy Prophetsa did not permit me to participate in Uhud, as at that time, I was fourteen years old. But on the day of Khandaq, when I was fifteen years old, the Prophetsa allowed me to join.[12] Hence, children below 15 years were not allowed to participate in the battle of Uhud while Hazrat Aishara participated in it, which clearly indicates that she was at least 15 years or older at that time and 14 years or older when she joined the Holy Prophet’s household. Here the full Hadiths from Bukhari and Muslim !!!! Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ, Jihād wa Siyar, v. 83 no. 2880. Anas said: “On the day of [the battle of] Uḥud when [some] people retreated and left the Prophet, I saw ʿĀʾisha bint Abī Bakr and Umm Sulaym, with their robes tucked up so that the bangles around their ankles were visible hurrying with their water skins. Then they would pour the water in the mouths of the people, and return to fill the water skins again and came back again to pour water in the mouths of the people. 27 Muslim, Ṣaḥīḥ, Bayan Sinn al-Bulūgh, iii. 1490 no. 1868. Ibn ʿUmar said: “The Messenger of God inspected me on the battlefield on the Day of ʾUḥud, and I was fourteen years old. He did not allow me [to take part in the fight.] He inspected me on the Day of Khandaq, and I was fifteen years old, and he permitted me [to fight Ibn ʿUmar did not receive permission to participate in the Battle of Uḥud because he was fourteen years old. When the Battle of the Trench occurred, the Prophet ﷺ reevaluated him and permitted him to fight because he had reached the minimum age of fifteen. The claim is that if Ibn ʿUmar was not allowed to participate in the Battle of Uḥud at the age of fourteen andʿĀʾisha was seen participating in the battle, that must mean she was at least fifteen years old at the Battle of Uḥud. Since the Battle of Uḥud occurred one to two years after consummation, she must have consummated the marriage at the age of thirteen or fourteen. All of these proofs shatter the misconception that the Holy Prophetsa married Hazrat Aishara when she had not reached the age of maturity. Conclusion It is an acknowledged reality that the onset of maturity or puberty fluctuates based on many factors. Similarly, we find different acceptable ages of marriage throughout history, and the time factor and its contemporary practices should be the primary guidelines instead of comparing an event on a completely different time scale and culture in order to fit and justify one’s prejudiced interests against a particular faith just owing to sheer malice. The fact is that the marriage of the Holy Prophet of Islam with Hazrat Aisha was a perfectly suitable marriage with the consensus of both parties including the parents of Hazrat Aisha as she had reached an age of maturity. Most of the traditions and references that are quoted about her age being less than 10 years or even lower are completely contradictory and unreliable as already explained. None of the contemporaries or staunchest critics of the time of the Holy Prophetsa ever raised this allegation despite challenging and opposing him on various fronts. Hence, it would be in the best interest of the critics of today to avoid such nonsensical dialogue and adopt dignity in discourse and criticism such that their own credibility stands at a position worthy of acceptance

These people think someone living 1400 years ago should wait until they're over 18 to marry when the average life expectancy at the time was 40-50 with a very high chance of you dying in wars or through a common disease or infection. Well, Islam and Quran does not know rape even in the marital sex. Because the woman cannot say no to her husband. So one can say that she did not oppose. But she can still go to the police in any western country and say she was raped because she was forced to sex by threat of being beaten for disobedience or by threat of ending up in hell. For example. Even her "yes", but out of fear, would not be considered. The man could be charged by rape under these conditions. So yes, well, islam opens up the gates for rape. Even rape of a child taking into account that it is possible to marry a 13-year-old (in Iran for example) and have sex with post-puberty girls under 15 years of age. Many historians report that Hazrat Aisha was ten years younger than her elder sister Hazrat Asma[7]. Two acclaimed historical books namely Tahdhib-al-Tahdhib and Al-Bidaya wa’l-Nihaya report that Hadhrat Asma died at the age of hundred in 73 AH[8].
Calculating from this, it becomes evident that Hadhrat Asma was about 27 or 28 years of age at the time of the Prophet’s migration to Medina. This puts Hazrat Asma at the age of 28 or 29 at the time of Hazrat Aisha’s marital consummation, which occurred in 2 AH. All of these facts indicate that Hazrat Aishara should have been 18 or 19 years of age at the time when her marriage was consummated.
Although this perspective makes more sense historically than the nine-year narrative, it still cannot be said that this is the most accurate understanding of Hazrat Aisha’s age.
Second Perspective: Age of around 14 years
Another perspective is that Hazrat Aishara was around 14 years of age when her marriage was consummated, which seems to be the most accurate understanding in this regard. There are many pieces of evidence from history that almost assert this fact to a level of certainty.
First evidence: Tabari in his treatise on Islamic history reports that Hazrat Abu Bakrra had four children and all four were born during the pre-Islamic period[9]. If Hazrat Aishara was born before Islam, her age could not have been less than 14 years in 2 A.H.
Second evidence: According to Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani, Hazrat Fatimara was five years older than Hazrat Aisha. Hazrat Fatima is reported to have been born when the Holy Prophetsa was 35 years old[10]. The Holy Prophetsa migrated to Medina when he was 52, making Hazrat Aisha 14 or 15 years old in 2 A.H.
Third evidence: A narration regarding Hazrat Aisha’s participation in the battle of Uhud can be found in Sahih Bukhari, which is as follows:
Hazrat Anasra reports, on the day of Uhud, people could not stand their ground around the Holy Prophetsa. On that day, I saw Aishara and Umm-i-Sulaimra that they had pulled their dress up from their feet to avoid any hindrance in their movement.
The Holy Prophetsa had not permitted Ibn Umarra to participate in the same battle because of his young age. Hence, it is reported:
Ibn Umarra states, the Holy Prophetsa did not permit me to participate in Uhud, as at that time, I was fourteen years old. But on the day of Khandaq, when I was fifteen years old, the Prophetsa allowed me to join.[12]
Hence, children below 15 years were not allowed to participate in the battle of Uhud while Hazrat Aishara participated in it, which clearly indicates that she was at least 15 years or older at that time and 14 years or older when she joined the Holy Prophet’s household.

Ibn ʿUmar said: “The Messenger of God inspected me on the battlefield on the Day of ʾUḥud, and I was fourteen years old. He did not allow me [to take part in the fight.] He inspected me on the Day of Khandaq, and I was fifteen years old, and he permitted me [to fight
Ibn ʿUmar did not receive permission to participate in the Battle of Uḥud because he was fourteen years old. When the Battle of the Trench occurred, the Prophet ﷺ reevaluated him and permitted him to fight because he had reached the minimum age of fifteen. The claim is that if Ibn ʿUmar was not allowed to participate in the Battle of Uḥud at the age of fourteen andʿĀʾisha was seen participating in the battle, that must mean she was at least fifteen years old at the Battle of Uḥud. Since the Battle of Uḥud occurred one to two years after consummation, she must have consummated the marriage at the age of thirteen or fourteen.
All of these proofs shatter the misconception that the Holy Prophetsa married Hazrat Aishara when she had not reached the age of maturity.
Conclusion
It is an acknowledged reality that the onset of maturity or puberty fluctuates based on many factors. Similarly, we find different acceptable ages of marriage throughout history, and the time factor and its contemporary practices should be the primary guidelines instead of comparing an event on a completely different time scale and culture in order to fit and justify one’s prejudiced interests against a particular faith just owing to sheer malice.
The fact is that the marriage of the Holy Prophet of Islam with Hazrat Aisha was a perfectly suitable marriage with the consensus of both parties including the parents of Hazrat Aisha as she had reached an age of maturity. Most of the traditions and references that are quoted about her age being less than 10 years or even lower are completely contradictory and unreliable as already explained.
None of the contemporaries or staunchest critics of the time of the Holy Prophetsa ever raised this allegation despite challenging and opposing him on various fronts. Hence, it would be in the best interest of the critics of today to avoid such nonsensical dialogue and adopt dignity in discourse and criticism such that their own credibility stands at a position worthy of acceptance

The life expectancy back then was 22-25 years old. Of course people lived longer but they were EXPECTED not to. So people started their lives as soon as possible. A lot Kids were going to work at the age of 6 and up. Plus, many got married younger than 13. Even in the Bible : Genesis 25:20 - “Issac was 40 years of age when he married Rebecca who was 3 years of age” “Issac was 37 years of age when his mother died and Rebecca was born”. Joseph was 90 years of age when he married Mary who was 3 years of age. He was going to marry her when she was 6 months old but he wanted to wait until she can speak. Christians hide that verse but Muslims don’t bring it up because they understand the era of those times. But any Christian or Jew who brings up Aisha’s age is a hypocrite.
