BrownswickBowling Hello Randy! I have a suggestion for this awesome channel. For the viewers, why don't you include the ball models the bowlers are using for the oil pattern, so we can recognize there styles and and maybe buy the balls for ourselves. Thanks?
@Ryan El Haje - It's a fabulous idea and I'm sure we'll get to that eventually. As I mentioned elsewhere in this discussion string, it's my opinion that which ball a kid is throwing is sometimes relevant, and other times not so much. (Personally, I believe far too much emphasis is placed on the ball in general. As a coach, I'm always more interested in teaching students how to compensate for changing conditions by adjusting their hand position, wrist position, etc. to help modify the ball reaction. But I digress. For the kids in this video who are still in the early stages of learning how to bowl with the big guns, their ball selection is probably not that relevant and really won't be until they can both get their rev rate up and get the ball off their hand more cleanly (they kind of go hand in hand). Plus, I can tell you that this past Saturday after we finished taping, I learned that Charlie's hand has way outgrown the span on his bowling balls, and he is anxious to soon get new stuff drilled up. His span is so short compared to his rapidly growing hand, it almost looks like it's drilled to be a conventional grip (it wasn't when it was first drilled, of course). He's got a couple of new, undrilled balls waiting to have holes punched in them, but he wants to get a couple more pieces and then get them all drilled at once and switch to a whole new arsenal. I'm not sure what the timetable is, but when I saw how much he's outgrown his span, I'm sure his parents won't want him to have to wait any longer than is necessary. So honestly, I'm not sure it would be all that informative to talk about the equipment that he's throwing now, knowing it's about to get discarded before too long. I can tell you that Charlie is throwing 14 pounds, and likely will be moving to 15 when he makes the switch soon. (I'm amazed that he throws his old stuff as well as he does given how his hand has so totally outgrown the span.) But as for relevant equipment seen in this video, I can tell you that Christian was throwing his yellow DV8 Misfit for strikes and an orange Brunswick T-Zone for his spares. He also has a Scandal that he throws sometimes, but he never brought it out on this particular show. On one of our earlier shows, Logan talked about how he'd just gone from 12 pounds to 14 the day before, and he then showed our viewers what he was throwing. Picked up on this channel around 500 subscribers, you guys are growing so fast glad to see that you are spreading the sport of bowling! Keep up the great work I love watching these videos
I think it's awesome that you do all of this for free and give them more practice, I just went today again and was just shy of my record. I bowl kind of like Jesse with two hands and no thumb but use a Brunswick Rhino
All these kids have game, but Charlie stands out for me. Very smooth. You can't teach that. I like Brandon's game too. All these kids will be forces to be reckoned with when they're older. You're doing a fine job with these young folks. Cheers
Hey Randy, have you ever given any thought on putting out any major PBA patterns? Like the U.S. Open, TOC, or Masters? Or even some really tough patterns like the badger, wolf, or bear? I live in Michigan and during the summer, I bowl on a Sport Shot league on Thursday nights so I get to bowl on patterns like that. I am curious.
Hey Randy love these videos very entertaining! My recommendation is to put what the kids are using bowling ball wise on the sport pattern so for if someone does have a certain bowling ball that they are using then they know it will do good on that patten in tournaments!
Plus, I'm not sure it's all that relevant with some of the kids. For a few of them, yes. But take Charlie, for example. I'm sure some might want to know what he's throwing. But I just learned over the weekend that he has outgrown the span on all his equipment (especially his urethane spare ball, which may explain why he's been missing so many spares......he grips it like a fingertip, but the span is about what you'd expect for a conventional). His hand has WAY outgrown it. But he's got some new, undrilled equipment at home. He's just waiting on acquiring one or two more pieces before he goes and gets it all drilled up and has a brand new arsenal. So why bother talking about his old stuff now? (Don't forget, these kids aren't on some company's ball staff getting new equipment all the time. Maybe they should be -- HAHA!) And some of the kids -- like Lamar and Jesse on this video -- I mean, is WHAT they're throwing all that relevant? I don't think so. Not yet.
BrownswickBowling Lamar and Jesse will both undoubtedly get better with the more practice and coaching each week. Id definitely like to see them come back to the show so we can watch their progress. I imagine logan and charlie have both been bowling for several years, if not all their lives....a brand new bowler is not going to just catch up to that skill level over night or within a week or two. I commend them both for stepping up onto the show against all of these bowlers who have been bowling for so long. For his first time on a sport pattern, he did alright, gotta say. Especially being new to bowling, and throwing 2 hand. Charlie looked like he was struggling with either his shoe or the approach most of the time.
I like the fact that you guys and gals are getting this kind of exposure. It reminds me of when I was a junior coming up back in the 80s. We had a city wide TV show then to showcase all age groups of kids that ran weekly here in Rochester NY. It has since past but I enjoy what I've seen from these production and also the quality of the editing is phenomenal I mean I subscribe to Xtra Frame each year and I feel like they could learn a lot with some of their streams of tournaments from Randy. Great bowling from all the participants as well as Christian especially I know he waited a long time for that win. Good luck to all I the future.
In my life this is my accomplishments (for anyone who even cares): 300s - 5 299s - 7 298s - 3 800 Series - 4 First 300 game - 14 yrs old at Las Vegas Jr. Invitational Tournament, Sam's Town Casino. # 2, 3, & 4 - 15 yrs old. # 5 - 16 yrs old. 800 series at 15 & 16 yrs old. Highest book avg - 221.79 at 15 years old. Now as an adult I still average between 215-220. Keep it up kids. Take this bit of advice from someone who bowled in your shoes before. Keep your emotions in check, keep your mouth as quiet as possible, don't worry about anyone else and stay focused on your own game. Learn as much as possible and understand there is always going to be someone better than you. Don't take things overly serious because you will end up burning out.
Thank you for posting this. I think Christian needs to take his time and think about what he needs to do. This will help his game. He also shouldn't be afraid to make a ball change, which means he has really the lanes as they transition. And most of all shoot spares at straighter angles.
I completely agree with you about Christian taking his time. Over the past year or two, we've talked a lot about him taking more time to set his feet (he used to never even look down to see where he was placing his feet). I wonder sometimes when I see shots like the one where he sent his spare ball out to the right when shooting the 2 pin if he was thinking he could throw it and get the same reaction as his strike ball, or if it just didn't come off his hand the way he wanted. But on the other hands, I will tell you that this show was the first time I can recall that Christian didn't indiscriminantly go back and forth between his DV8 Misfit and his Scandal, without any real rhyme or reason. I've been trying to get him to commit to one ball and stick with it, rather than switching back and forth for no apparent reason. I'm actually trying to get him to be LESS prone to change balls. And finally, yes, we finally got him a plastic ball with which to shoot spares, which should help his game. Now if I can just get him to buy into the spare shooting alignment system I advocate (playing most spares with a spare ball off the 4th arrow, with a few exceptions), I think he'll become a better spare shooter. Like anything, it takes repetitions.
I am a 2 handed lefty. I average about 150 with a high score of 264. I am just waiting to crack that big 300 one day. Good luck to the Prodigy Bowlers Tour!
This looks AMAZING! The house I bowl at used to have a more competitive house shot league back when I was younger due to having all of my school's bowling team on it. I do not bowl league anymore due to the fact it doesn't even have enough members to function. I average a 190 in high school competition and WOULD DIE to come try this! Shame I live 2 states over. :(
my son is going through that right now....I told him he needs to practice with something that isn't a 16lb. ball if he wants to figure it out as I am no help cuz I'm a 2-finger stroker :-)
Hi! I just wanted to say how much my friend and I enjoy your videos! We are both 23, and we just started to pick up bowling. I used to bowl when I was really young... maybe 9 or 10, but I just didn't take up interest in it. We have been bowling about 4-5 months and we average about 145. (no calculation, just speculation so give or take 10 pins). We just wanted to show some support, and we were so sad for Logan about Pepsi! We think it's great what you're doing, keep up the great work!
Korina Shapiro - We shoot these shows most weeks after league. This week I have something special in store for those who participate. You're always welcome to stay after and bowl with us.
WOOT! Way to go on your victory, Christian! Great job on your 300 game, Charlie! Great seeing the new bowlers try their hand this week on the tour show, hoping to see them back next week. Question: What is the yellow ball that christian is throwing?
Revolution TV Thank you, Christan. I will have to look that up. I throw some DV8 myself. I have the Diva Divine and the Vandal in my bag currently. Id love to get the Grudge one of these days. Also, my vandal is my favorite ball currently in my bag, so I'd love a chance to explore the newer Vandal ball(s).
@Leo Ham - I reject your assertion that Jesse is "pretty bad." Jesse is new to organized junior league bowling. Clearly, he and Lamar are not yet where Logan, Charlie, Christian and some of our other junior bowlers are on the bowling skills spectrum. But all that does is tell us where he is today; it offers no prediction of where he'll be a year or two from now. Jesse and Lamar both just joined us a couple of months ago, and part of the time since joining, Jesse and his family were off on a mission trip. So we really haven't had much chance to work with him yet. He, like Lamar, loves the game, but as yet, has not yet received much in the way of coaching. As a coach, I don't look so much at where a kid *is* in his progress, but rather at whether his/her interest in and love for the sport is sufficient to propel him/her forward on a path to improvement. Do they want to get better and find out how good they can be? Or are they there just for the social and fun aspect of recreational bowling? Jesse for sure has the interest and the drive to get better. We all start somewhere, and rarely do we end up where we begin. Give him time to learn, and give us, his coaches, time to work with him a bit. My goal is never to turn kids into professionals. It's to help them get good enough to have a lot of fun. Then, if their desire is sufficient, they'll push for more instruction to explore the boundaries of just how good they can get. But one thing I'm 100% sure of: Dismissively demeaning junior bowlers with off-handed remarks about how they're "pretty bad" does them no good and does our sport no good. How would you have liked it when you were a kid if every time you fell off a bicycle, someone said, "You SUCK at bike riding!" These videos are not intended to embarrass our kids. They're intended to CELEBRATE junior bowling and junior bowlers. It's a given when you're dealing with non-professional athletes that each one is going to bring his or her own unique set of skills to the activity. Our job is to coach 'em up and help them realize whatever potential they have. And I take it quite seriously to shield them from immature criticism that I deem unhelpful to that process of helping them improve.
I was trying something new bowling today and managed to get my strike ball more consistently. However, my spares went totally out of the window. 9- happened alot although I got the 4.7.10 split! Can anyone give me any tips of how to be more consistant with spares?
To get consistent with spares, a few things need to happen. First, it's best to develop a system. The one I teach is to use the 4th arrow on all spares (with a few exceptions), throw a spare ball (plastic or weak urethane, I personally throw a urethane ball, the Storm Mix). By using the 4th arrow and a spare ball, you pretty much take the lane out of play, so your lines won't change much, if at all, regardless of the pattern you're bowling on. It takes a little trial and error to find out where you need to stand to hit the 4th arrow and convert the two spares you need to know how to make: the 7 and 10 pins. Once you know where to stand for those two spares, it's a simple matter of moving your feet 3 boards to adjust for the 6 pin or the 3 pin on the right (off the 10 pin starting position) or the 4 pin and 2 pin (off the 7 pin starting position). I do recommend using a reactive ball for all double wood spares, and I see no need to change balls if you're going for something in the middle of the lane that requires no further adjustment than moving two or three boards one way or the other off your strike alignment. Now, here's the deal. No one likes doing this, but spare shooting, like making strikes, only gets better in the long run if you practice it. So when you go to practice, set aside at least a game or two to do nothing but shooting spares. Practice clipping the 10 pin and 7 pin cleanly off the rack (without knocking anything else down). There are other similar drills that I use, but we'd be here all day if I tried to describe them all. Suffice it to say if you want to get better and more consistent with spares, you gotta put in the work and practice shooting spares. Oh, and one last thing: All the corrections in alignment won't help much if you have fundamental problems with your mechanics. Work on fundamentals so you can throw a better first ball. The simple truth is, even if you don't practice spares, you'll probably make more of them if you'd just leave easier ones.
Thank you so much for the advice. I don't put that much hook on the ball so throw fairly straight. This is my first year in a local league since I played in a junior league 12 years ago. I am averaging about 163 give or take a few so I know I have alot to learn. I love your channel and videos. And these kids can really bowl! You must be a top coach! I am leaving lots of single or 2 pins and missing more than I would like. After alot more practise I hope to be more consistent.
Search the web for information on something called the 3-6-9 system. It's applicable with most any spare system, whether you adjust off your strike starting position and target, or whether you use a system such as the one I described earlier. The 3-6-9 system is the foundation of most any solid spare game. Once you understand it and know how to apply it (and frankly, it's really simple to learn), then you'll start making more of your spares.
Hello I am 14 I was just wondering how or if the league is accepting anyone because if so I would like to Bowl with you guys for a week because I live in Indiana and I can always drive there for a week or two my average is about a 170 and my highest game is 244. (I bowl with hook, One handed)
We accept visitors that want to come bowl with us. However, our schedule is a bit up in the air in the next few weeks through the end of the 2016-17 bowling season. And I'm not entirely sure what we're doing for Summer just yet. Stay tuned in for updates.
_Adam_The_Bowler_ I’m watching old PRODIGY episodes and saw this. In one of the newer episodes, someone ask and I think Coach Randy said that he didn’t come back this season.
Mr Laggy - He did on this pattern, which, at 35 feet, makes sense, as his normal slow ball speed could hook off the lane. He was better able to keep it under control by adding a little velocity. Christian, on the other hand, made most of his mistakes throwing it too hard, either resulting in the ball never quite reading the lane and coming up right of the pocket, or, if his right shoulder got ahead of his left (a flaw we've been working on), a dead pull.
@@dustinlinnert457 - Well, now there's an interesting question. I used to be pretty good at bowling. Back in the '70s/'80s, I was a PBA member and placed as high as 5th in a PBA tournament (I didn't bowl in that many). Then I took about a 30-year hiatus away from the sport. When I returned in the early 2010s, I went through a two-year period when I won 13 tournaments. Small tournaments, not PBA tournaments, but each one had its share of very talented players. I was pretty proud of that little run of success. The last season I actually bowled league, I booked a 216 average. Not bad for an old fat guy who's in his mid 60s. Unfortunately, I blew out my ankle a few years ago while bowling, and I really haven't bowled regularly since. And of course now that we've been in quarantine due to the pandemic, I haven't set foot in a bowling center since February of 2020. I am a USBC Silver Certified Coach, and I've been around the sport since I was a kid. I know the game. And I've bowled 8 300 games and 5 800 series, including an 847 (278-280-289). That was a long, long time ago. But since I returned to the game in the last decade, I've bowled two of my 300s and two of my 800s. So I'll let you be the judge as to whether I'm "good at bowling." I think it would be fair to say I was pretty good at one time, but it's been a while since I picked up a bowling ball.
Sorry for the extremely late response by anyone, but a sports shot will be more difficult than your typical house shot. But sports shots will have less of a difference in amount of oil per board compared to your house shot. What I mean by this is that you can only have such a set amount of oil, usually around 2 mL of oil, which allows for less room of error. House shots are designed for fun and meant to 'help' bowlers that bowl on it. I'm not sure if I missed anything important, but I think I hit the main parts. Hope this helps :)
Jesse should’ve had the bumpers up when playing bowling to prevent the ball rolling down the gutter and to help him get a strike or a spare because he might lose the game
You might want to search through the videos on this channel and watch his last appearance on PRODIGY in the show titled "2020 George Washington Open" taped on February 22, 2020. You might come away with a different opinion of Jesse's bowling skills.
I wished all the PBA bowlers would boogie after strikes just like that commercial lmao 1:19:39 Who was he bowling against? McGyver? lmao was this commercial recent?
TwistyPumpkin 68 - i've had that idea. I've wanted to do it for a while. One of the kids for whom I babysit every now and then has come over to my place while I was editing the video after leaving the bowl on Saturday, but I never finish editing the video before he's so tired he's about to konk out on the floor. LOL.
i hope i participate in this tornament but i cant even think of gettin that because my country that i live in doesnt support bowling at allllllll They all support football and mostly bowling in my country is just for fun not really for tournament :( if i can wish somethig to happen i will wish as to participate in a tournament.
Maybe you could drum up enough people in your area to hold your own tournament. Or even a sort of unofficial, informal and impromptu challenge match like the ones we do on Prodigy Bowlers Tour!
I know but people dont have enough money to play and my friend have almost no time beacause they need to do the homework at school. i hope i can make a group of people that like it.
yeah but he didnt have to run out on the approach. LOGAN cant bowl on a sport pattern so thats why i dont consider him a good bowler i average 159 on sport shot and 190 on a house shot and tell logan that he needs to calm down when he doesnt make a good shot theres no reason to be mad at the shot that you made
James, you're just wrong about Logan not being able to bowl on a sport pattern. He had a bad game on this particular show. That happens to everyone. I once saw Earl Anthony throw a 140 on TV. Was he no good? (Just the greatest bowler who ever lived.) Everyone has off days. Logan has won tournaments on sport patterns, so to suggest that he "can't bowl" on a sport pattern ignores the truth. You don't know what you're talking about. As for him needing to "calm down," as you prescribed, well, all I can say is, as a coach, I would encourage all players to BE THEMSELVES when bowling within the broad boundaries of good sportsmanship. Logan is passionate about his bowling. So was Marshall Holman, and Marsh is in the Hall of Fame, despite kicking out foul lights and getting into a war of words with audience members on TV. Get a life, dude, and give other people the space to be themselves. If there's one thing I *KNOW* will cause you misery in life, it's trying to impose your values on other people. THIS JUST IN: Other people are under no obligation whatsoever to live their lives or behave the way you would personally want them to do. Keep that in mind when you find it irresistible to be critical of others for no other crime besides not acting the way YOU would say is the way to act. You're not the gatekeeper of "decency" in modern society. Finally, as I have had to point out to a few others recently, this channel is all about celebrating junior bowling and elevating junior bowlers. I have ZERO interest in hosting a channel for small-minded critics of others to vent their personal frustrations by criticizing and demeaning KIDS who are bowling. If you think that being critical and personally insulting toward CHILDREN makes you look bigger, you've got another thing coming. Second, if you think it does the sport of bowling any good to send the signal to junior bowlers that when they step out of line, @james meyer will come to the rescue of the sport by belittling these kids, well, you've got a really perverse way of thinking. Either be supportive and offer some CONSTRUCTIVE ideas to help build UP these kids, or STFU and go terrorize someone else. I won't think twice about blocking you from this channel if you can't participate in support of the spirit of this channel. Got it?
BrownswickBowling when I said Logan needs to calm down I meant he needs to keep his cool when he makes a bad shot and every time I watch this I have seen him bowl on a house shot
So you're basically admitting that you were passing judgment on Logan's ability to bowl on a sport shot based on a very limited amount of information. Here's the fact: He's won tournaments on a sport shots. So to say he can't bowl on them is simply false. So let's stop that discussion now. As for him needing to "calm down," well, tell that to PBA Hall of Famer Marshall Holman, who sometimes let his emotions run wild while he was competing. The fact is, some people are just wired to perform better when they let their emotions run white hot. Tiger Woods was like that when he was at his peak performance. Jimmy Connors was like that in tennis. To assert that everyone has to keep an even keel...because YOU SAY SO...is just foolish, and more than a little presumptuous. You don't know this kid. You don't know how he's wired. You've seen him bowl four or five games on video, and based on that, you've drawn some pretty big conclusions. Now, as for why he was bowling on a house shot when you watched, here's the deal: These shows are usually contested on sport shots. The bowling center had a management change recently, and at about the same time that was going on, the head lane guy also left, and the new interim manager had to bring someone in. They're just now getting things back in order. But during that transition, we weren't getting a sport shot run on Saturdays as had become the weekly custom. Our kids bowl on sport shots all the time. Our league bowls on a house shot (because there are kids in the league who are not competitive tournament bowlers). But we run a sport shot for our elite bowlers to practice on after league every Saturday (when we can), and it's on that condition that we typically record these shows. That said, I also believe there is value to being able to bowl on a high scoring condition. I did when I was in the PBA back in the '70s and '80s, long before oil "patterns" had names like Cheetah, Scorpion and Shark. The fact is, this program caters to kids of all skill levels. These extra-curricular matches that we hold in order to record this show is open to ALL our kids, although usually only the better bowlers participate. But I encourage ALL of them to join in. I figure it's another way to pique their interest and make them want to get better. But remember, these are KIDS. And GETTING BETTER is a process. Most of them are not even in high school yet. Let's not be too judgmental. The whole gig here is to celebrate junior bowling while elevating junior bowlers. We don't elevate anyone by belittling them.
Why does anyone throw it the way they do? Because they do. In Lamar's case, at least in this video, we learned later that the ball didn't fit his hand. The span was wayyyyyyyyyyyy too short for his hand, so he was having to squeeze it just to keep the ball from slipping off his hand, and making it virtually impossible to keep his hand behind the ball. Hence, the way the ball sort of just plops down on the lane and doesn't have a lot of impetus. Haven't seen Lamar since Spring. Not sure what his and his mom's plans are for bowling this Fall.
xXPoisoned_HornsXx I’m 15 and been bowling for a few months. About 6. Highest game is 236 and my average is about 160. I believe in you to get better and become a pro. I’ll see you in 8 years on the PBA Good luck 👍
1 game - impossible unless you have a handicap. 2 game series - Not bad at all. 3 game series - average. 4 game series - meh. 5 game series - sell your gear and take up basket weaving. 6 game series - don't ever step foot in a bowling alley again. 7 game series - put fingers to neck, check for pulse, if not dead, ask God to forgive you for sinning.
We certainly could load the PBA patterns into the Kegel Flex machine they have at the bowl. But our bowling center is not licensed to use them (they used to be back when we had a PBA Experience league there). But those patterns are not stored in the Flex machine (which was obtained long after the bowling center stopped doing the PBA Experience leagues). We'd need someone with a PBA card to download the load data, as that information is not publicly available through the PBA's website. Plus, quite candidly, the kids never encounter the PBA patterns in tournaments around this area. The sport patterns they typically find are either WTBA patterns (usually the ones named after cities, which we've frequently used on the show) and occasionally a Kegel pattern (like the one used in this show). We also used one of the USBC Nationals patterns (I believe the one we used was the 2016 Team pattern, if memory serves). We'll mix it up. And if anyone wants to send me the load data to the PBA animal patterns, I'd love to have the kids bowl on it. We have a new lane guy who just started a few weeks ago, and we're just now getting back into the habit of getting a sport shot put out each Saturday for our kids (and any other interested kids in the area) to practice on.
Austinfishing 101 - This pattern dictates that players stand farther to the right and play up the extreme outside of the lane. Lamar was pulling it on this show.
Here's the shocking news about Lamar. In all his appearances up to now on PRODIGY, he's been bowling with a ball that is so badly mis-fit for his hand, he has completely outgrown the span. AND...he has so totally outgrown the thumbhole that he was only able to insert his thumb into the ball to not quite the first knuckle. That's right. His thumb wasn't even all the way in the ball, and was only inserted to about the first knuckle. That's astounding. I honestly don't know how he was able to hold on to it and swing it, let alone throw it and be as accurate with it as he was. As of last Saturday (2/4/2017), the thumbhole has since been drilled out and he can now get his thumb all the way in it. And lo' and behold, I actually saw him starting to hook the ball a little. The span is still a little short for him. But not as dramatically short as I might have guessed. He can throw it for a few months until he completely outgrows the span. But at least now, he can hold on to it a whole lot easier.
Well, that's just not true. He's won a couple of Georgia Youth Bowlers Tour Junior Gold Qualifiers, all of which are bowled on sport shots. He's also won a number of these Prodigy Bowlers Tour episodes. Most have been contested on sport shots. He is 13, remember. He is the most advanced junior bowler for his age that I've ever seen. When he's 16 or 17, he's going to be a beast.
Awesome Sauce still not sure what pop you're referring to. If you're talking about any pop from when his fingers or thumb exit the ball, that's just a function of how the ball is drilled. But I don't hear a pop. And it's certainly nothing we have ever worked on.
If you think so, then you definitely should watch our episode taped on 2/22/2020, the George Washington Open. I'll anxiously await whether you still think Jesse should not be playing.
First of all, I was half joking when I said he shouldn’t be playing hence the lol. And yes, after seeing the George Washington open he is an exceptional bowler, but seeing him roll gutter balls on that one video was funny and no harm intended. Bowling is a great sport and a fun one at that!
@@dawsonb.3461 -- Yeah, I understand all that. Just understand this: These are children. In every one of the PRODIGY videos, I include liner notes (you should read them). Among the comments I make is a warning: If you have something to say about these kids, make it positive and constructive. If all you have to offer is to criticize, then you're not being helpful, you're being hurtful. And when the people on the receiving end of that hurtfulness are children, then you're really some kind of jerk, and I won't tolerate it. I understand you were half-kidding; that's why I didn't delete your comment and block you from posting here again. I just ask if you're going to continue offering critiques of these kids, do it in a way where you're trying to lift them up, not beat them down. That does no one any good. Remember, the mission of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is to "Celebrate Junior Bowling while we Elevate Junior Bowlers." Keep your comments in that spirit and we'll have no problem. I'm very protective of these kids, and I always will be.
I’m a starting bowler from Montana and these competitions almost never happen because we are a rural state and the interest in bowling is not high. So I applaud these kids. But man if I had the opportunity to bowl more I would take it in a heartbeat. I’m thinking of creating a bowling club at my high school!
I'm Jesse. I had fixed everything I was struggling with my game after, got my ball resurfaced and now my average across 4 games on a league shot is 185.25. I'm gonna comeback with more heat! 😜 Also I had never bowled a sport pattern before and because my ball had never gotten anything done with the surface, never cleaned, and never refaced. I was also switch back and for between using my thumb and not using it, and also i never hadn't gotten a foul with that 10th frame, so idk
Jesse, you did great. You told me this was the first time you'd ever bowled on a sport shot. And let me tell you, bowling on a sport shot and bowling on the house shot are two very different animals. Especially if you're not accustomed to making the adjustments. A house shot is like "bumper bowling" for people who throw a hook. You can practically "bounce" the ball off the dry boards on the outsides of the lanes. But a sport shot doesn't give you that miss area. That's why you were throwing it in the gutter (well, that and the fact that you were playing the lane incorrectly). We'll work on it. I'm delighted that you joined us on this episode, and I look forward to seeing you "bring it" again. See you Saturday!
sassychewtoy16 Brownwickbowling sassychewtoy16 I am a two handed bowler like you and don't use my thumb, I use the Brunswick Rhino. It was a little weird at first but after a few months of bowling and only a few weeks with my new ball I am bowling an average of about 185-190 and a high of 218 so don't get discouraged ^~^
oh im not, and i do use my thumb i gutter without it. mostly because i cant control it then. but i found out if i took out my game of bowling as fast as i can my average was 190.3-
Jesse, we'll talk again when I see you this weekend. One question I have to ask: Is there a reason you chose to bowl two-handed? Did you try one-handed and not like it? Or have you always bowled 2-handed? A lot of people go to two-handed because they can't get enough on the ball when they put their thumb in it. But my experience tells me that this may be because their ball simply doesn't fit and they have to squeeze it with the thumb to keep it from slipping....or their thumb hangs in the ball when they go to release it. Either way, it's a symptom of an improper fit. You aren't supposed to hold the ball with the thumb, you're merely supposed to GUIDE it with the thumb. The ball will hold on to you (not the other way around) if it's fitted properly.
i have always bowled 2 handed. i've learned how to one hand from maddie blake but i just dont have fun that way. plus i cant get the ball up and release, and the reason i use my thumb is because maddie blake taught me how to release the ball correctly and i am able to get more control and power with it
Man this production quality just went to another level! Way to go Randy!!!
Thanks. I spent some time on the graphics over the holidays.
BrownswickBowling Hello Randy! I have a suggestion for this awesome channel. For the viewers, why don't you include the ball models the bowlers are using for the oil pattern, so we can recognize there styles and and maybe buy the balls for ourselves. Thanks?
Sorry, I meant to put a period after thanks.😀
Check it out: th-cam.com/video/0YjH_N5rjJE/w-d-xo.htmlm10s
BrownswickBowling Thanks! I wish there was a coach like you at our bowling alley😉
Binge watching older episodes. Awaiting the new 2019/20 fall/winter season.

BLAZING
Picked up on this channel around 500 subscribers, you guys are growing so fast glad to see that you are spreading the sport of bowling! Keep up the great work I love watching these videos
I think it's awesome that you do all of this for free and give them more practice, I just went today again and was just shy of my record. I bowl kind of like Jesse with two hands and no thumb but use a Brunswick Rhino
I use my thumb
Another great production....WTG Randy..! And congratulations to Christian, and Charlie..!
All these kids have game, but Charlie stands out for me. Very smooth. You can't teach that. I like Brandon's game too. All these kids will be forces to be reckoned with when they're older. You're doing a fine job with these young folks. Cheers
Greg, some of them are forces now. A couple of those kids are something special.
We'll do that eventually. I just haven't collected all the information yet.
Wow,great job Randy! Welcome to 2017! Could you also possibly discuss lane courtesy like we see around 5:00
yea, that seemed to irritate Logan. I suspect Lamar was gonna wait after Logan threw though
and Logan having a bad game doesnt help :D
In my life this is my accomplishments (for anyone who even cares):
300s - 5
299s - 7
298s - 3
800 Series - 4
First 300 game - 14 yrs old at Las Vegas Jr.
LottiDotti76 I care
Holy your very good
Wats ur highest series? Do u have any suggestions to be more consistent
7 299’s I feel bad.
Like anything, it takes repetitions.
love so much a2 ^pinsetter :) i miss it in france on
ly few bowlign still have them but its very rare
JOSSELIN552338 - The A2 is still the workhorse of the bowling industry. It remains pretty ubiquitous here in the USA.
I am a 2 handed lefty. I average about 150 with a high score of 264. I am just waiting to crack that big 300 one day. Good luck to the Prodigy Bowlers Tour!
Joshua Lance how old are you? And good luck :)
Lanar came from Brunswick Zone Lilburn for anyone who didn't know
This looks AMAZING! :(
Finally saw final match. That shot Christian did was as close to the gutter as you can get without it going in gutter. Awesome shot and match.
Good for Charlie!! His ball has a beautiful heavy roll, works all the way to the 1-3. Well deserved Charlie!!
I love the way Logan Bowls I want to learn to hook the ball with my thumb but so far I can only hook it with two fingers
my son is going through that right now....I told him he needs to practice with something that isn't a 16lb. ball if he wants to figure it out as I am no help cuz I'm a 2-finger stroker :-)
I want to be on this!!
just tell me when 👌🏼
Korina Shapiro - We shoot these shows most weeks after league. This week I have something special in store for those who participate. You're always welcome to stay after and bowl with us.
Oh this is recorded in GA? I live in NJ. -sad face-

WOOT! Way to go on your victory, Christian! Great job on your 300 game, Charlie! Great seeing the new bowlers try their hand this week on the tour show, hoping to see them back next week. Question: What is the yellow ball that christian is throwing?
Kyah Rose DV8 Misfit Pearl was what I was throwing
Revolution TV Thank you, Christan. I will have to look that up. I throw some DV8 myself. I have the Diva Divine and the Vandal in my bag currently. Id love to get the Grudge one of these days. Also, my vandal is my favorite ball currently in my bag, so I'd love a chance to explore the newer Vandal ball(s).
26:41 the best strike i have seen in a while
brownswick bowling your funny entertaning and got good prodigy bowlers tour videos
They all are really good at bowling 😀
Leo Ham well it takes time to get good at something
Well done!
Do u prefer storm balls or hammer
Austinfishing 101 - Personally I prefer Storm. That's what I throw. But all the major manufacturers make quality equipment.
Right now I just started bowling 3 months ago I throw the hammer viral
How do I getIn on this game
Hello I am 14 I was just wondering how or if the league is accepting anyone because if so I would like to Bowl with you guys for a week because I live in Indiana and I can always drive there for a week or two my average is about a 170 and my highest game is 244. (I bowl with hook, One handed)
We accept visitors that want to come bowl with us. However, our schedule is a bit up in the air in the next few weeks through the end of the 2016-17 bowling season. And I'm not entirely sure what we're doing for Summer just yet. Stay tuned in for updates.
The future of the PBA! 🎳
haha
2 good bowlers in the finals. It was a struggle for both though.
Where ever did Lamar go?
_Adam_The_Bowler_ I’m watching old PRODIGY episodes and saw this. In one of the newer episodes, someone ask and I think Coach Randy said that he didn’t come back this season.
YES!!! finally
I've noticed that Charlie has added a little bit more speed on his ball
Mr Laggy - He did on this pattern, which, at 35 feet, makes sense, as his normal slow ball speed could hook off the lane. He was better able to keep it under control by adding a little velocity. Christian, on the other hand, made most of his mistakes throwing it too hard, either resulting in the ball never quite reading the lane and coming up right of the pocket, or, if his right shoulder got ahead of his left (a flaw we've been working on), a dead pull.
Oh yeah that makes sense, I did not know what the pattern was
1-3 inches of snow and everything shuts down. I live in British Columbia and we get like 1-3 feet atleast
It's salt
Who’s talking over the microphone
That would be me.
BrownswickBowling are you good at bowling
BrownswickBowling I never got a 300 before
@@dustinlinnert457 - Stay at it and keep improving. You will.
Hey I guys should go to Lincoln Nebraska!!! I would love to bowl for this channel
Jamnsky its all about the timing with getting your thumb out and just lifting the two finger to create revolutions
sorry that was meant for someone else
Kyle Dollbaum lol no big deal😂
Cool new intro

What’s the difference between a sport shot and a house pattern
Sorry for the extremely late response by anyone, but a sports shot will be more difficult than your typical house shot. But sports shots will have less of a difference in amount of oil per board compared to your house shot. What I mean by this is that you can only have such a set amount of oil, usually around 2 mL of oil, which allows for less room of error. House shots are designed for fun and meant to 'help' bowlers that bowl on it. I'm not sure if I missed anything important, but I think I hit the main parts. Hope this helps :)
What does Christian average in league? Just curious.
Hail Fire2001 - Around 190, give or take.
That's really good for someone his age
Jesse should’ve had the bumpers up when playing bowling to prevent the ball rolling down the gutter and to help him get a strike or a spare because he might lose the game
You might want to search through the videos on this channel and watch his last appearance on PRODIGY in the show titled "2020 George Washington Open" taped on February 22, 2020. You might come away with a different opinion of Jesse's bowling skills.
I wish I could bowl with you guys but I live like 13 hours away with you guys but.......😂😂
I wished all the PBA bowlers would boogie after strikes just like that commercial lmao 1:19:39
Who was he bowling against? McGyver? lmao
was this commercial recent?
LuchoVena - The opponent in the silk jump suit was Ernie Schlegel. The promo is from about twelve or fifteen years ago, give or take.
Nice new intro :)
You should get one of your youth bowlers and commentate the games with you one time
TwistyPumpkin 68 - i've had that idea. I've wanted to do it for a while. One of the kids for whom I babysit every now and then has come over to my place while I was editing the video after leaving the bowl on Saturday, but I never finish editing the video before he's so tired he's about to konk out on the floor. LOL.
i hope i participate in this tornament but i cant even think of gettin that because my country that i live in doesnt support bowling at allllllll They all support football and mostly bowling in my country is just for fun not really for tournament :(
if i can wish somethig to happen i will wish as to participate in a tournament.
Maybe you could drum up enough people in your area to hold your own tournament. Or even a sort of unofficial, informal and impromptu challenge match like the ones we do on Prodigy Bowlers Tour!
I know
but people dont have enough money to play and my friend have almost no time beacause they need to do the homework at school.
i hope i can make a group of people that like it.
congrats Christian

I bowl in a Wednesday league and use a house ball so I average a 60 I’m not good at bowling
On that 300 game by Charlie Logan shouldn't have run on the approach like that
james meyer why? Because YOU say so? He didn't disturb Charlie. He ran out to congratulate him. I've seen pros do that.
yeah but he didnt have to run out on the approach.
Why does lamar throw it softly
Why does anyone throw it the way they do? Because they do. In Lamar's case, at least in this video, we learned later that the ball didn't fit his hand. The span was wayyyyyyyyyyyy too short for his hand, so he was having to squeeze it just to keep the ball from slipping off his hand, and making it virtually impossible to keep his hand behind the ball. Hence, the way the ball sort of just plops down on the lane and doesn't have a lot of impetus. Haven't seen Lamar since Spring. Not sure what his and his mom's plans are for bowling this Fall.
BrownswickBowling oh ok
Jesse is doing exactly what I was doing he needs a smoother release
I was switching from 2 fingers to my thumb over and over. I had never used a sport pattern before
When Logan got mad it kinda seemed like he thought Lamar was walking up but he wasn’t sooo 😬
No something just distracted him it may be out of the corner of his eye
Brownswick bowling what ball is Lamar throwing
You're asking me what ball someone was throwing in a match six months ago? Really? I don't even remember what I ate for breakfast THIS MORNING. LOL!
What color shirt were you wearing when you wrote that comment, Brownswick?
WOW 1:18:22
Christian has fantastic power. If he learns how to add finesse he will be a 300 bowler.
I’m 14 and no where near pro with my highest at 203 with my average at around 115
xXPoisoned_HornsXx I’m 15 and been bowling for a few months. About 6. Highest game is 236 and my average is about 160. I believe in you to get better and become a pro. I’ll see you in 8 years on the PBA Good luck 👍
Lol thnx :)
xXPoisoned_HornsXx your welcome. Add my Instagram please. We can talk there. @ashton_ross_the_bowler
I average 160 and have a high game of 241 and high series of 657
I'm 10 with a highscore of 203 aswell. I have an average of 112.
32:13 this guys laugh bro
My highest is 399 is that good
1 game - impossible unless you have a handicap.
Do you mean 299?
He probably means in one series or he just doesn’t know scoring and is thinking of his best total score in a bowling session
THATS SO GOOD NOT EVEN PBA PROS CAN DO THAT IN 1 GAME
(If only it was possible)
you should have the kids bowl on a pba animal oil pattern
Lamar is standing to far right so he's crossing his arm I use to do the same thing just needs to work on it a lot
Austinfishing 101 - This pattern dictates that players stand farther to the right and play up the extreme outside of the lane. Lamar was pulling it on this show.
I really like lamar because he really tried
Jess had a double 5 for a ten.
I wish I I could bowl in a serious league, I have to find state tournaments myself
this is going to boost Christians convenience level big time
Viize PS3 - And his confidence level, too. LOL!
BrownswickBowling that's what I meant lol my bad
Viize PS3 blame it on auto correct
BrownswickBowling lol
My highest score ever is 175
Now a 243
I’m 13 and my high is 300
congrats
Good for you
no way
what kind of ball do you bowl with
And I’m 10 and my high is 300
This is why I don't think of Logan as such a great bowler he can't bowl on sport shots
BrownswickBowling honestly he is going to be amazing when he is older
Im two handed bowl
Who else heard the pop
Awesome Sauce - What pop?
BrownswickBowling Christians hand when he bowled my coach is teaching me how to do that any tips?
Awesome Sauce still not sure what pop you're referring to. If you're talking about any pop from when his fingers or thumb exit the ball, that's just a function of how the ball is drilled. But I don't hear a pop. And it's certainly nothing we have ever worked on.
BrownswickBowling thank you and can you do a Lamar vs Brandon ps I really wanted Logan to win
uuuuu Charles got his 300 (new balls)
now the race for #2!!!!! Who will it be!?!?!
Jesse you only need two fingers because you’re two handed
good
good
Ong Jing Shan He most likely knows that seen as he’s older than you and some 2 handers use their thumb
BOWLING.....it looks easy, but ain't!
I’m sorry but if you get gutter balls you should not be playing at this competition lol
@@dawsonb.3461 Lmao u tucked your tail as soon as they responded 😂

The ball will hold on to you (not the other way around) if it's fitted properly.
i have always bowled 2 handed. i've learned how to one hand from maddie blake but i just dont have fun that way. plus i cant get the ball up and release, and the reason i use my thumb is because maddie blake taught me how to release the ball correctly and i am able to get more control and power with it
My highest is 236
Moi aussi
My highest is 223
