Thanks for having me on Randy! I am really happy that i won but I want to point something out that Charlie did for me. During qualifying, I started out the first 3 frames with an open, spare, and an eight ten. After that 8-10, Charlie said go to my Phaze 2, and then I proceeded to go on to a string of strikes. The next game wasn't so good so I believe that the reason I made the first seed was because of that string. And then, in the title match, I used that Phaze 2 and shot that 220 with it. I don't thing I would have gone to that Phaze if it wasn't for Charlie and given that we were against each other, I think it speaks loads for his character and how good of a person he actually is.
Thanks for sharing that story, Jake. Those of us who have the privilege of being around Charlie know what a solid citizen he is, but some on here may not be as familiar. You're right; he's an awesome guy. Oh, and so are you! Thanks for coming. You know you're welcome any time. Given the length of the trip to get here, just check with me ahead of time to make sure we're doing one before you get your mom and dad to hop in the car and make the long trek across the state. Otherwise, you might find yourself with no better challenge than just bowling with ME. LOL!
Jake is awesome. A few weeks ago when I was recording the stepladder finals of the GYBT TOC, it was Jake who saved the day by loaning me his portable cellphone battery charger when my iPhone (the camera) was running low on juice just as the championship match was getting started. Great kid. Super nice parents. And as far as his game goes, he's got a couple of things I'd work on if I got to work with him. But he's a smart kid, so I'm certain he'll figure it out.
Randy I want to thank you for providing the kids a great forum for tournament practice. as usual, you put together a great show and I laughed at your observation of the amount of bowling balls that the kids had out, that was so on point. again, thanks for all you are doing for the kids!!
Thanks for finding quality content to share during the summer Coach Randy. That lane condition looked brutal, and both Charlie and Logan looked like they had a different look on both lanes. That's a good way to make a tough shot even tougher. Congrats to Jake, and I'll be watching for your next post.
Wowza! I'm with you Coach! I've never scene those wild splits and leaves! Crazy conditions!! I think I would just throw my spare ball straight and hard 3rd arrow and hope for the best! I might try an outside. Line too! By the way... Logan, great Apology! Well done! You just went up a couple pegs in my book! When you're teachable and humble enough to be able to apologize you will go far!! Well guys..still an interesting show! Blessings!!
I've been watching for a while, and the next time I am driving through or stopping anywhere near Rosewell, I'll make sure to bring my equipment and take a look.
Hey coach Randy I love bowling it's my favorite sport. I love your videos they are really entertaining. I really I want to come bowl with you guys down in Georgia but I live in New york. but anyway keep up the good work you are amazing. p.s. Logan fossum is my favorite player on your prodigy bowlers show.
Starting to watch old prodigy vids when I'm bored. Coach Randy, you said it was unusual pin action and I did have something like this once during school cca. We were bowling a game and the first game reaction was pretty normal and the 3rd game we bowled if u were to hit the pocket u would leave splits and going through the nose gave a strike. Everyone was just laughing and I used the same ball and had to move about 7 boards left and throw it out to the 5 board when usually in that oil pattern (we were told that it was a inter-school competition pattern which u cannot throw it too wide) , my ball would fall early of into the gutter if I were to throw it to the 5 board from even standing at 25 board. It was just a weird day and funny experience
I worked with him a little bit after the show. I'm hoping he'll go back and lower his swing some. The high backswing causes two problems: One, he loses accuracy because of it. And two, it gets his spine angle too far forward, which moves his center of gravity up and out in front of him, which is why he's off balance so much at the line. He's a good kid, and seems VERY coachable.
The fact that Logan made a video addressing what happened, owning up to his actions is very classy on his part. So much respect for that kid. We all have bad days.
The difficult, unpredictable conditions can be a good learning experience for these kids. I bowled 25 years in a four lane basement house in a little town in Wisconsin. The place had 8 foot ceilings, spray gun oiling, cracked boards and mismatched pins. Needless to say, scoring was difficult, but we put together some terrific tournament teams out of that place. We weren't fazed by any condition.
+Jess - It's hard for me to be gone that long in a day. I've got an aging dog at home and can't be gone more than about 5-6 hours at a time. A trip to Augusta would have me away for about 5 or 6 hrs just for the driving part. You add the bowling and we're looking at around 9 hours of being away. She'd explode if I was away that long. Couldn't do that to her. (I ask you: Could YOU hold it for 9 hours?)
Awesome video. It's nice to know that Superman goes to McDonalds- orders him a double quarter-pounder with cheese and eats it in his car alone. Ha! These kids are human!!! All good stuff. And we are sure that Logan will likely get roasted in the comments for the forfeit but that would be a shame. He seemed really tired. (He seemed a little delirious towards the end). Maybe he was sick. Maybe he didnt have a good nights rest and knew that the quality of his bowling would just diminish therefore he did the honorable thing and let the popular Charlie go on by- taking one for the show. Who knows and who cares. He is an awesome bowler and will be back- killing the game. Great job posting. Love seeing these in the summer and we can't wait for your next one!!!
No one, including you, has quite nailed exactly what happened. But you are quite right in your guess that Logan didn't get a good night's sleep. I'm told that Christian, who stayed over at Logan's the night before, and Logan were up 'til nigh on to 5 AM playing Wii Bowling. So it's not surprising to me that neither one of them bowled all that well. (Christian shot 299 for two games of qualifying for an average of 149.5. Not his best day.) But there's a little more to the story than that as far as why the forfeit happened.
Coach Randy, as a suggestion since the kids had a rough week this week, why not have a fun week next week, such as putting the bumpers up and letting the kids do trick shots for fun.
I've already got a fun format mapped out for this week. We've invited the parents to bring their bowling equipment. So it's going to be a Youth-Adult event of some kind. What I haven't decided yet is whether it will be a Parent/Child doubles deal or a Kids-versus-Adults team competition. I gotta tell ya, I'm kinda leaning toward the latter. But as always, it all depends on how many bowlers we have. It is, after all, "unofficial, informal and imprompu." The operative word here being "impromptu."
Could you make an episode called "The badger bites back" just like you did whenever y'all made an episode "The Wolf bites back" and they bowled on the wolf pattern because with the talent these kids got I would like to see them try to bowl on the 52 ft Badger.
+Treyldog Films - He actually reminds me of the first time I saw Pete Weber bowl when Pete was 19. And Brandon reminds me of a cross between Gil Sliker and Ernie Schlegel.
If you think THIS was bad, you have a short memory. I take you back to the Championship Round of the 2012 US WOMEN'S OPEN in Reno, Nevada. Strap in, kids. This was a rough ride: th-cam.com/video/3s5xTU8HDl8/w-d-xo.html
Coach Randy, I've been a longtime fan of Prodigy, and was wondering if it was okay to stop by while on my way up to West Virginia to watch a show? I love all that you do for the junior bowlers.
Ethan Dilbeck - Actually that has nothing to do with it. The shaky cam is the result of people moving while seated on one of the chairs connected to the counter on which the tripod is sitting......or......someone fiddling with the house balls that are connected to the counter (down below and on the other side).
Hey coach, I'd like to challenge one of your students named Logan F. I live in Florida. I'm 13. And I love to bowl! So if possible I'd like to challenge Logan F.
We're not hard to find. Any visiting junior bowler is welcome to bowl with us. That said, I advise you to join our Facebook group to be apprised of when the next upcoming PRODIGY will be filmed. We'll do one this Saturday, 7/1. But after that, our Spare Clinic is done, which means I'm basically done for the Summer. I may try to do some PRODIGY shows at other bowling centers in the area, but there's nothing confirmed as of now. I do intend to take some ME TIME this Summer before we start up again in the Fall. So we may go on hiatus for a little while.
Next Saturday (7/1) is likely the last PRODIGY to be shot at Brunswick Zone Roswell this Summer. It's our last day of Summer Spare Clinic, so I'm essentially done for the Summer there after this Saturday. However, I've said all along that I want to take the show on the road to other bowling centers in the area this Summer, and once our Spare Clinic is done, my Saturdays will be free to do that. However, as most people here know, in the summertime, it's common for a lot of bowling centers to not have junior leagues. So it may be hard for me to find a willing bowling center that also has kids there on Saturdays to draw from. Plus, a lot of the best youth bowlers will be in Cleveland for a week or two in July for Junior Gold and all the related activities, like USA Bowling, etc. So I'm just not sure exactly where I'm gonna find kids to put on the show. But I'll call around and see what I can do. I'd like to expose others to PRODIGY, which will help build the audience. Worst case scenario: I won't find anyone willing to let me take the show on the road and we'll be back with a full schedule when Fall league starts up.
I would love to take it around the country. But I have a dog. She's gettin' on up there in years, so for me, travel is out of the question. Besides, if we showed a completely different group of kids every week, we wouldn't have a group of "regulars" you could become familiar with. As a result, you wouldn't have your "favorites" to follow. There are advantages and disadvantages to being in one place. That said, next Saturday (7/1) is the final Saturday of our Summer Spare Clinic. After that, I'm essentially done for the Summer, and can take Prodigy around the Atlanta area to expose new audiences to it. That's my plan. However, as you probably know, July is dicey, as all the best junior bowlers will be in Cleveland for Junior Gold. And very few bowling centers have a viable youth program in the Summer, so finding a bowling center with a group of kids who'd be willing to stay after league on Saturdays in the Summer to bowl PRODIGY is a little tricky. But there are a couple of centers in particular I'd like to take it to.....if they'll have me.
BrownswickBowling Ok. I'm From Jacksonville , Fl And Bowl A lot! I'm 13 And Currently Have A 226 Average! I Wish Y'all Could Move More South So I Could Join And Bowl With Y'all but sadly it's like 4 hours away.
Well, we won't be "moving" to Florida anytime soon. But you could always run away from home and live in a box in the parking lot at Brunswick Zone Roswell. I can't say for sure, but I don't think they'd mind. ;-)
Wow!!! What an episode! Congrats to Jake! Can't believe Logan gave that game up....it would have been hard, but possible for him to beat Charlie. I think this condition was actually really good for the kids to bowl on. I know it probably felt like complete trash....but considering so many of them are going to Jr Gold...this was probably a good experience for them to compete on this close to Jr Gold 2017. Good luck to everyone going to junior gold Hopefully one or more of ya'll will bring back some footage to show us?? *hint*hint* ^_^ Or, maybe I can catch some of the action on TH-cam if they live stream it this year. I watched a little last year, cause I happened to be off work during that time, and had nothing better to do. That, and it was quite entertaining as well.
Amanda: Actually, USBC will likely live stream a good bit of the early rounds and the Advancers Round at Junior Gold. They did last year, anyway. (And believe it or not, many of our PRODIGY videos have more TH-cam "views" than those Junior Gold videos do. AHEM!!!) And of course, the final two in each age group will be squaring off on CBS Sports Network. Check local listings for times in your area, as they say. This year, I have my fingers crossed that maybe one or more of our PRODIGY kids make the TV show, either at Junior Gold or at USA Bowling, the finals of which will also be shown on CBS Sports Network. Last year, several PRODIGY kids made the TV show, including Bryant, Josh Dawson and Tyrell. I'll certainly have my fingers crossed for them all to make it next month.
BrownswickBowling Wow, neat! And yeah, thats what I was watching on youtube. I didnt have access to watch any tv airings, and likely wont have that access this year.
I've had this happen many times in league sometimes the guy wouldn't show up to oil the lanes so it was extremely challenging especially if they had league the night before. i had a 160 average ( it's not high I know ) and sometimes I would end up bowling 110 to 120 and it sucked and it's hard to keep calm and I've blown up before but you know you just gotta keep calm.
I was just talking on the phone with someone about this and I said, "In sports, you have to be ready for anything." He replied, saying, "You can't be ready for everything." That's true, of course. But, as I told him, you CAN be mentally nimble enough to roll with the punches and go with the flow.
i played on conditions very similar not too long ago, since then ive started teaching myself to throw my plastic straight at anything to get at least a 9 on each frame, might be an idea to try teach these guys to do that, just as an emergency
everybody gets frustrated, it happens. Logan will learn and be better from it in the end. we all need to remember that these are still just kids, still learning how to deal with different emotions and situations. I coached in my own youth bowling center for almost ten years, Logan is not the first and won't be the last. chin up kid. win the next one.
The lanes at my bowling alley are very oily in the summer time so I never understood why but it makes me mad because my current ball never gets the proper reaction but in the school year league I bowl in, my ball reacts better. So here is my question: Why are the lanes more oiled in the summer time?
I have no idea why your bowling center seems to lay down a heavier volume of oil in the Summer. I can think of no reason why they would. It seems unique to your bowling center.
so I watched about half of this video, went to school, then came back to watch the rest but while looking for it I saw logans video called "why I quit the match" and I thought "that might be about this prodigy episdoe" so I skip logans video and keep watching this one from where I left off, not 10 seconds of the video go by when you said "logan is forfeiting the match" coincidences
Nathan Oberg nope he withdrew because he didn't want to be there to bowl because he was mad and said rude stuff to his coach, he has a new video out go see
Jason Schiffer -- I just saw Logan's new video and want to clarify one small thing: when he refers to "his coach" in that latest vlog post, he's not referring to ME in this particular case. He has another coach.
Azn Studios on those conditions if you did that it would have hooked at your feet. You had some oil in the middle. Just enough to allow you to put it farther out and bounce off the friction
Even with the frustration of these conditions, and God knows I get frustrated on anything other than a house shot, doesn't something like this only help their game in the long run and start to work with different conditions? I get frustrated because I will be nothing but a league bowler, but these kids have so much potential to go pro, and I would say getting "practice" on these sort of conditions can only help their game.
Between the challenging conditions and the simulation of tournament competition and the pressure of match play, I hope our whole little PRODIGY program helps prepare these kids for what awaits them at a more competitive level. That's the whole idea.
Logan gave no reason for the withdrawal. *I* know why the forfeit occurred, but it would serve no purpose to divulge it. So far, no one on here has guessed it in the comments. They think they know, and some are close. But nobody has correctly guessed. It'll just remain a mystery -- like the question of who killed JFK and what is that thing on Donald Trump's head that will leave people puzzled for years to come.
+Jake Styvesant -- It was a very strange circumstance. (No one here has really quite put their finger on it.). Actually, not all that strange when you really think about it.
Find a coach and take lessons. There's nothing that really can substitute for it. I gave a lesson to a guy the other day who said he'd been watching TH-cam videos for a while, but it just confused him more. Now, after just one lesson, he's got a game plan and specific thing that HE needs to work on that will benefit HIM.
Great video as always! Just giving my opinion here, which is that Charlie and Logan would have done better throwing it straight down the middle with a plastic ball (or in Logan's case, his least reactive ball). I can shoot 170's or 180's doing that (on a sport shot), and they are better bowlers than me. As for Logan's withdrawal, I would guess that it has something to do with not having a good spare ball, but that's obviously just a speculation. EDIT: Now I see the lines they found in the 3rd game.
I haven't talked to him about it specifically, but he's heard me speculate about it on PRODIGY and hasn't corrected me. But I believe the reason he's dropped the spare ball out of his arsenal is because at Junior Gold this Summer, they're imposing a limit on the number of balls the kids can use. So in preparation, he's gone back to his old method of throwing a straight ball (his hand coming up the back of the ball without any turn) so he won't need that extra slot in his arsenal for a spare ball. Makes sense. After Junior Gold, he may be planning on adding it back into his arsenal. I don't know. And he was throwing his weakest reactive through much of the time he was bowling. The pink and purple ball he has is a Tropical Breeze. He throws it straighter than I ever could throw my Tropical Breeze when I had it.
That does make sense. The Tropical Breeze would work fine almost anywhere except here, though. He seems to throw it really straight, but not quite 100% straight, if you know what I mean. Thank you for always replying to me!
It's all explained on the video. The oil pattern that was put out was one of the 2016 Junior Gold patterns. (The Kegel machine didn't say which one it is. Judging from how the ball was hooking early, it's a safe bet that it was one of the short oil patterns.) Problem was, we held our Junior Bowlers Summer Spare Clinic on these lanes earlier in the day, so there was a ton of carry-down. So what you're left with is early hook...and carry-down. So the behavior was pretty much exactly as you described. The ball hooks early, then rolls out (doesn't really roll out, it just can't keep climbing due to the carry-down). A most demanding pattern, to say the least.
Randy, this episode of Prodigy was very uneasy to watch, during the whole video the camera would shake like no other. I would like you to know that this isnt meant as a mean comment bashing the broadcast, i think its great what you do.
ThatGuyNamedBen - Believe me, I'm well aware of the shakes. It's a trade-off. Either we set the tripod on the floor where it's stable (unless someone walks into it, which can completely reframe the shot), but the players's heads and bodies will block out viewers' view of the pins........or........we get the camera up high like this (which I much prefer, it's not even close). Only problem is, to get this height, the tripod must sit on the counter-top of the table surface on the concourse area of the bowling center. Just one problem with it: any little movement by anyone sitting at that table will provide enough vibration that it makes the camera shake. It's not really noticeable when the camera is zoomed out. But when it's zoomed in, the camera movement shakes like crazy. Still, the benefit of better sight lines, I think, outweighs the problems of the occasional shaky cam footage.
ThatGuyNamedBen - Dude, stabilizers, aka "steadycams" are for hand-held cameras, not for cameras on a tripod. This may be moot soon, since the bowling center is getting new furniture. The countertops may be gone soon and I may have to rethink all of this.
+ThatGuyNamedBen - If you'd like to purchase me a $4,000 RED camera with a $6,000 jib to get high above the players, I'll be happy to provide you with my mailing address so you can grt it frop shipped here. My burthday is in November. Thanks in advance. :-)
Why can't you? Long before I started putting a camera on them, the kids at BZ Roswell used to stay after league and bowl challenge matches. Heck, I used to bowl with them. You don't need a camera and elaborate video production to do this at your center.
Its not so much about the camera what is holding us back is the management and if we were to do it we would have to pay to enter because our manager does not put forward to much for youth.....
Our kids pay, too. Open play rates apply. Or in our kids' case, they get a junior league rate. But the bowling is not free. Consider approaching the management of your center about doing a group rate for, say, a couple of hours (or maybe three). This might be especially attractive to them if the bowling center typically sits empty (or nearly so) on Saturday afternoons. Of course if the place tends to be packed on Saturdays, then they'd probably be less likely to be open to the idea. The ol' supply-and-demand concept comes into play here. But if the lanes sit vacant for the most part, SOME revenue would seem better than NONE. Besides, an investment in junior bowlers only helps nurture their interest in the game, which is an investment in building the bowling center's customers of the future.
It would be fun to visit your bowling alley sometime. What kind o prices to you have there? I would like to se the differences between USA and Finland ;).
it's pretty obvious logan was frustrated with the conditions and had no confidence that he could figure them out so he quit. Someday he will look back and regret that he didn't finish it out.
LANDED IT - The lane pattern was revealed on the show (not Bear). But it's unclear as to whether the lane machine properly put out the shot it was supposed to.
Yes, we may not know why Logan left, but it was crystal clear that he was indeed frustrated. Lately, whenever I've watched Logan bowl, things haven't exactly been in his favor and I've seen him act different than usual. With Logan being one of the top dogs in Prodigy, I think that it put him a place where he expected to win all the time. And I think that this is the reason why Charlie is emerging as, dare I say it, the number one bowler on the show, and maybe even the number one bowler in Georgia, because he doesn't expect to win every game. Logan has a lot of growing up to do on the lanes, and that's okay! He is still an amazing bowler, I'm just not too impressed with his attitude that he has when he was not doing his best lately. I am not doubting that these conditions were more than difficult, but if Logan wants to go pro really bad, then he needs to learn how to bowl on conditions almost this difficult. However, I couldn't do what these kids were doing today, so they deserve the best for sticking it out!
What I understand is Christian stayed over at his house and the two of them stayed up til almost 5 AM playing Wii Bowling. No wonder they both bowled like crap. Christian shot 299 for two games of qualifying. Stellar, huh? That was good for 9th. Logan's 329 for two games was good enough for 5th. Scoring was low overall. When I saw the scores, I was just glad I left my bowling balls at home. I'm sure I would have embarrassed myself on these conditions, too.
I'm around Logan's age and I average about 200 even on most sport shots. There are some times that I have bowled under 150 and it is not very pleasing but I'm always happy for the other bowler that wins that match. Logan I thought was that way too but I'm very wrong, he just lost a lot of respect from me as a bowler.
Watch his video that he posted on his TH-cam channel and he might just gain that respect right back from you. He stepped up and owned his mistake. Accepting responsibility for one's actions (and mistakes) is a big step in growing up, and I thought he matured a little bit by going through this process.
These kids are focusing on scores way too much imo, instead of adjusting to the lanes, & focusing on a more positive attitude of getting through-the-game. It's not easy, but it's the goal any good bowler should have. Stay positive, post a solid finish, & exude a disciplined game.Great sportsmanship is the main objective. Bowling and smiles go very well together!🎳🤓🤣🎳
Great sportsmanship is certainly important, and as a coach, I always teach it, especially to youth bowlers. They know how I feel about that. But make no mistake the "main objective" is always TO WIN. Period. Short of that, to perform the very best you can and to give it your all. I'm not a believer in participation trophies or that "showing up" is enough. No, you play to win. Always. Fortunately, I don't have to preach that to these kids. They're very competitive by nature. And that's why this particular day on the lanes was so terribly frustrating for them. That said, I will grant you that some of them still have much to learn about certain facets of bowling. For instance, in match play, when the lanes are difficult and scoring is low, there's no reason to get discouraged and express self-pity when EVERYONE ELSE is struggling, too. And this is where being "score conscious" is important AND can be a detriment. On the one hand, it's easy to get dismayed by one's inability to score any higher. But when the scoring pace is extremely challenging, the objective in match play is not to try for a high score; it's to get a score that's ONE PIN higher than your opponent, and not care too much about how high (or low) that is. Oh, and I don't worry one bit about how many smiles I see. Fact: These lanes were the hardest I've ever seen them. And yet, I heard not one complaint out of anyone's mouth. The one player who withdrew did so as a result of his being discouraged about his own chances, not about the lanes, per se. I'd say their attitudes are all pretty healthy. And the one who had to learn an important lesson on this day, did so, as evidenced by his follow-up mea culpa video on his TH-cam channel.
BrownswickBowling Hi! So true Coach Randy, so true. Well said. Bowling, like golf, is an individual sport played by only yourself. No defense, just you. I love that. Logan or Lofo was unfortunately sick and tired of losing to Charles The Great. He saw it coming...again. I'm just glad he didn't go attack the adorable little girl focusing hard on her bumper game. When CTG let her finish her 10th crucial frame it was pure genius on his part. I felt Lofo almost pass out...😶🎳❌🤣 Charles is an anomaly for sure, a man of grace and respect. His game and gamesmanship prove it over and over. Adjusting your overall speed by 2-4 mph is a big part of success when dealing w tough or any patterns. The senior masters were throwing it 14-16 mph , Weber at 14.5 at Sams Town this year. Amazing tourney won by WRWjr. I saw Pete shoot a 300! Wow! ❌🎳❌Take care Randy. 🙏
i to am sad to see Logan GIVE UP i thought the young man was better than that what poor sportsmanship ATTITUDE like that will get you no where in the sport of bowling i to am very disappointed in Logans poor choice
LOL!
Jake is...the man! Kid walks the walk and talks the talk. We need more of him.
+Diana Holbein -- Thanks so much Diana. It was such a pleasure getting to spend some time with you, Rick and "Jake 'n Shake." :-)
Fantastic presentation. Really enjoyed this. I know the pain of some of these oil patterns and the ball doesn't react accordingly. Wow!
Thanks for the kind words, Nate. If you ever visit this neck of the woods, come see us.
i love these
Starting to watch old prodigy vids when I'm bored.
Being from Augusta I see jake from time to time. Love the kids game. Really fun to watch
Agreed. If I had stopped to record a video about every single mistake I'd made in life, I wouldn't have had time to make all the mistake I made.
I love your videos can you please keep making more prodigy bowlers tour video
you should really try bringing prodigy to Augusta , I would love to be on the show
+Jess - It's hard for me to be gone that long in a day.
28:55 lol logans face 😂😂😂😂😂
Sorry I mean 29:55
These commercials are amazing
jake's such a cheerful guy and his playstyle is similar to mine.. i like him C:
I wonder when brunswick a2 and brunswick gsx pinsetters will soon start having animations in open play.
Our center (we have A2 pinsetters) has animations on the scoring system, even during open play. I hate it. I always turn it off.
Love the videos! Keep it up! :D
BrownswickBowling I think the kids teaming with their parents could be kinda cool, thanks for replying
Great show.
Could you make an episode called "The badger bites back" just like you did whenever y'all made an episode "The Wolf bites back" and they bowled on the wolf pattern because with the talent these kids got I would like to see them try to bowl on the 52 ft Badger.
David Brock -- I ***SO*** want to get these kids on Badger!!!
BrownswickBowling I bet ya do. I want to see them try to attack it.
Also I have bowled on it and it's insane!
+David Brock - I won a small tournament on it. Which is crazy, because I'm usually terrible on long oil.
+BrownswickBowling ah thats cool im usually I love bowling on long. I'm terrible on short. 😕
Does Jake's style of throwing the ball remind anyone else of Mike Fagan or Osku Palermaa throwing it with one hand?
+Treyldog Films - He actually reminds me of the first time I saw Pete Weber bowl when Pete was 19. And Brandon reminds me of a cross between Gil Sliker and Ernie Schlegel.
How come you didn't strip the whole lane before you put down the pattern so you don't have all that carry down?
I think the pattern was applied before they started the spare clinic.
If you think THIS was bad, you have a short memory. I take you back to the Championship Round of the 2012 US WOMEN'S OPEN in Reno, Nevada. Strap in, kids. This was a rough ride: th-cam.com/video/3s5xTU8HDl8/w-d-xo.html
Bowling Question: for 7 pins, would you suggest slow strike shot over same mark or to shoot stright cross lane?
Nerdy Cubing - Straight at it. Spare ball. Over 4th arrow.
Coach Randy,
I've been a longtime fan of Prodigy, and was wondering if it was okay to stop by while on my way up to West Virginia to watch a show? I love all that you do for the junior bowlers.
+Chad Brewer - C'mon. We'll be recording this Sat., then we'll be off for a while.
Did you make it?
you can tell how busy the alley is from the shakey camera lol
Ethan Dilbeck - Actually that has nothing to do with it. The shaky cam is the result of people moving while seated on one of the chairs connected to the counter on which the tripod is sitting......or......someone fiddling with the house balls that are connected to the counter (down below and on the other side).
Oh ok that makes more sense
Hey, it's 4:30am where I'm at
Cameron Tyler same bro
It was 4:30 here when I uploaded the thing.
My 4 year old just asked if you guys live in the real world (vs. fictional). He now wants to go bowl in Roswell (we're in California) :)
Oh yes, we're very real. Tell him PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is "reality television" at its finest. :-)
So we may go on hiatus for a little while.
that looks very difficult but it may give them more variety someday the next time I'm in goergia I will bowl prodigy bowlers tour
You should take Prodigy around the U.S. or is it that you want to stay in Georgia and force me to come over there and try my hand in the lane.
I would love to try and bowl in prodigy but I don't live in Georgia so that sucks.
What Is The Editing Software U Use?
StrikeBowlingTv - Final Cut Pro X, with a little help from Motion and Photoshop.
BrownswickBowling Ok. I'm From Jacksonville , Fl And Bowl A lot! I'm 13 And Currently Have A 226 Average! I Wish Y'all Could Move More South So I Could Join And Bowl With Y'all but sadly it's like 4 hours away.
StrikeBowlingTv actually, its about 9 hours😂
INFERNOsoccer Skillz No Went To hawks game was like 4 hours lol
But, as I told him, you CAN be mentally nimble enough to roll with the punches and go with the flow.
man tough conditions indeed.
Toughest conditions I've ever seen. I was glad I left my bowling balls at home. I wouldn't have done any better.
i played on conditions very similar not too long ago, since then ive started teaching myself to throw my plastic straight at anything to get at least a 9 on each frame, might be an idea to try teach these guys to do that, just as an emergency
everybody gets frustrated, it happens.
Hi mr.fossem
so I watched about half of this video, went to school, then came back to watch the rest
but while looking for it I saw logans video called "why I quit the match" and I thought "that might be about this prodigy episdoe"
so I skip logans video and keep watching this one from where I left off, not 10 seconds of the video go by when you said "logan is forfeiting the match"
coincidences
Randy... Logan withdrew because a nagging blister on his thumb came back. I like the hints you gave!
Nathan Oberg - Uh, no.
BrownswickBowling Well, it was worth a shot haha great video as usual coach Randy!
Why are you competing with regular bowlers in next Lane
Because this is technically open play and the center isnt obligated to allow for buffers, especially when it's busy.
I don't have one so what do I do
Were you the one who dq logan or did he ask
I didn't DQ anyone. There was a withdrawal. Go find Logan's TH-cam channel where he explained the reasons for his withdrawal.
Not quite sure why Charles would do that at 28:56. Not sure whether he did it on purpose or... idk.
SniperPlayz - Not intentional, I'm sure.
I would have played around 7-8 to about 4 with urethane
Azn Studios on those conditions if you did that it would have hooked at your feet. You had some oil in the middle. Just enough to allow you to put it farther out and bounce off the friction
Where's Lamar
Haven't seen him this Summer.
oh well hope to see him soon
He's buddies with Mikey and Danny. So I imagine we'll see him again. Hope so. I like him, and he's a good addition to our league.
I agree 100%!
Between the challenging conditions and the simulation of tournament competition and the pressure of match play, I hope our whole little PRODIGY program helps prepare these kids for what awaits them at a more competitive level. That's the whole idea.
ya new episode
I did know that they had that much trouble
What's in Charlie's arsenal these days??
Does jakes game remind anyone else a lil bit of Mike Fagan??
Great video. Never seen why Logan forfeit the game. Should won the game if made strikeout in 10th.
My heart sank when I heard Logan had withdrawn, especially when he came so close to winning.
+Jake Styvesant -- It was a very strange circumstance. (No one here has really quite put their finger on it.). Actually, not all that strange when you really think about it.
BrownswickBowling he forfeited because he thought what he did was childish and rude to everyone.
I left the 2-6-8-10 last week.
Bowled for a while but I want to learn how to bowl like Jake, any videos or tips anyone can give me??
Keep your swing slow
Find a coach and take lessons. There's nothing that really can substitute for it. I gave a lesson to a guy the other day who said he'd been watching TH-cam videos for a while, but it just confused him more. Now, after just one lesson, he's got a game plan and specific thing that HE needs to work on that will benefit HIM.
I want to be on prodigy one day but I'm in Minnesota
JackpotMonster001 - We had one kid come from as far away as Honolulu, Hawaii to bowl PRODIGY.
Wow
I didn't understand why Logan lost the game with charlie
He forfeited the match.
Why did Logan withdraw from the game?
FOOTIE Maybe Like Hurt His Thumb Or Ripped It Open! That's What I Would Think.
StrikeBowlingTv Wow, that would hurt!
I won't reveal exactly what happened. But it wasn't an injury.
BrownswickBowling Damn, OK! Thanks for the reply! Feel really honored to get a reply from you! Haha
So logan just straight up said i forfeit.Because in his vid he claimed his coach withdrew him
Wilhoit Bowling - There was a bit more to it than that. I would direct you to Logan's TH-cam channel where he explained it.
what do you do at the spare clinic.
Ghost 27 - Each week it's a different drill.
I actually made the 4-7-9-10 in league yesterday
Johnathan Holbrook I made that spare to but I thought i missed but I made it buy just a little little bit
I have a 100% spare ratio for that split
Granted I've never left it before :P
No one tried lofting?
What's with the oil today? Every ball just hooks really early then rolls out. Are they just really broken down or what?
A most demanding pattern, to say the least.
so in match 2 a forfeit why?
Thomas Dinsmore - See Logan's channel. He posted the explanation.
BrownswickBowling May I suggest a stabilizer, can usually find one on Amazon, worth looking into
ThatGuyNamedBen - Dude, stabilizers, aka "steadycams" are for hand-held cameras, not for cameras on a tripod. This may be moot soon, since the bowling center is getting new furniture. The countertops may be gone soon and I may have to rethink all of this.
BrownswickBowling My bad.. Hopefully you find a solution in the near future, best of luck Randy
+ThatGuyNamedBen - If you'd like to purchase me a $4,000 RED camera with a $6,000 jib to get high above the players, I'll be happy to provide you with my mailing address so you can grt it frop shipped here. My burthday is in November. Thanks in advance. :-)
if there's short try to throw a plastic ball like a spare ball
Not taking anything away from Logan, but I think Meghan threw that one. Being home from college and all, let the little guy enjoy.
That was nice
I'm a 2 hander and I hate short oil
Urethane (like a Pitch Black) is your friend.
28:55 missed fist bump.
I am almost sure that Megan Bowled with logan in doubles but I could be wrong.....
Thomas R - Yes, on our December 17th episode.
Okay. Thank You Coach Randy! I wish we could do this In my center In NC
Is it a wolf pattern???
Andrey 236632 Jr Gold 2016 Advancers
Andrey 236632 I don’t know
Every game I bowl is a 300, I never miss target, but the oil breaks down and ruins my perfect games.
Teddy Ruxpin I'm pretty sure it is impossible almost to average perfect
I open up my TH-cam app and my 2 favorite channels posted videos! Brownswick Bowling and SuperMarioLogan
Droid 14 a.k.a Tingle Tester 3000 yup those are my 2 favorite channels as well
Droid 14 a.k.a Tingle Tester 3000 Another SML fan besides me oh boy we are going to get along great.
Droid 14 a.k.a Tingle Tester 3000 Me Too
Logan you could win
Rich Nittritz watch his recent video, his coach withdrew for him
with a spare ball don't throw straight around 1st arrow
spooky huh?
it's pretty obvious logan was frustrated with the conditions and had no confidence that he could figure them out so he quit. Someday he will look back and regret that he didn't finish it out.
Although I won't reveal exactly what did happen, I can say that your analysis is incorrect. That's not what happened.
BrownswickBowling i have something in mind on what could've happened but I won't mention it because it seems private.
When was the last time in prodigy bowling history have we got a forfeit?🎳
I think "never" is the word you're looking for.
is it the bear? why wasnt players lofting from the inside part of the lane
LANDED IT - The lane pattern was revealed on the show (not Bear). But it's unclear as to whether the lane machine properly put out the shot it was supposed to.
I'm 9 and I have a 158 average
You should be 13 years old now? Better average?
even though he was frustrated Logan was still smiling so I think he was going to go somewhere
maybe a birthday or something
+Duane Jones - Nope.
😝
I have the Columbia 300 u dot
I actually still have one of the originals myself. Unfortunately, it's 16 pounds.
Yeah Logan did not look happy the whole time. It kind of looks like he didn't get a lot of sleep
BrownswickBowling I had a feeling something like that happened. He just looked so tired the whole time
I'm around Logan's age and I average about 200 even on most sport shots.
I am 10 and a 180 average
I see
i would use black hammer and shoot 220 going with a bit of a loft
LANDED IT I prefer a blue hammer I love that ball
LANDED IT urethane burnt up too much. Actually everything burnt up too much. It was nearly unplayable
i would have play out to definitely get away from that traffic
