Just bought my first metal detector a week ago due to coming across your channel. Always been interested in it but never bothered to pursue, came across your channel two months ago, flicked through, found your video with you beach detecting using the Vanquish 440, went down a rabbit hole of doing research, and before I knew it I bought a Vanquish 340 for my birthday. Hey bro how’s the 340 treating you? I just got one too, dug up a bunch of junk and a few cool things like old shotgun caps, bullets, a thimble, etc. Found anything cool?
@@realElzie thus far I’ve actually found four wheat Pennie’s! One of them being 1919 on the dot which I’m really pleased with. Other than them I’ve found a few very old buttons. Most likely more simple buttons from around the revolutionary war. I would, though, like to dig up some bullets for their weight in lead/copper. No luck tho, but that’s mostly because of where I hunt. Keep it up man! It can be a bit of a testing machine at times, but for the cost, I have zero complaints.

In the tight quarters I normally just go over the tight spots with the pinpointer. Nice hunt today. Thanks for sharing.

The penny you found is actually worth 6 or 7 cents. Here's why you go to the hardware store for a washer they sell them for 6 or 7 cents. You drill a hole in a penny and you now have a washer and you saved money. Lol

I can still hear that speaker bottoming out that click it was doing it on the penney. I will sit down with mine again and figure what setting it is for sure that effects that and let you and Bob KNOW. That and pinpointing is what blows the speaker on them. I also run mine with it 3/4 volume never full..... It also benefits the tone. mine sings like the deus2 on a coin, pull tabs bottlecaps have a rough sound same tone but different lol hahaha.
School holidays i like the foot paths 1and 2 dollar coins notch out keep 41 44 and 60 to 68 one and two ar in 60ies 50 c coins 41 to47. Last section was full on 48bucks. Cover ground super fast no pull tabs still get a few selections of bottle caps.
Austin thick grass, woodchips, thick built up sand are the only places i detect. Sparse grassy areas like that only typically hold garbage..
Yep, typical hunt like that around here for me too. Kids and adults gawking at you. I just look up, smile, and keep on detecting. Don't pay it much mind anymore like I used to. If I'm detecting I'm out of work so the kids and their screaming is nothing compared to work. The headphones take care of noise reduction on that issue. But yeah man, I feel ya on these types of hunts. You never know what you may find. And I too have found bullets, but not 22. 38/9mm and 45acp rounds in the parks around here. LOL
I took my vanquish and my my lab pro terra to the beach yesterday 2 driving to get there but found one copper ring and some coins . I believe the vanquish is a better machine for the beach anyway , The sad thing is you can’t get it wet . Good hurting .

I go in the tot lots with the kids, they either stay away from me, or if they hang with me, I give them all the money I find. Either way I am hunting that lot. I tell the parents I am looking for dangerous objects that could ruin their kids day. Then I mention razor blades and needles, then the parents are fine with me being there. A few times the parents have the kids thank me for watching out for them. It's all good. Don't be afraid to move in on them, they will play around you, they don't care.

I'm going to hit a couple totlots if I can get up before the sun, last time one was unsearched, so I expect these 2 in the same sorta area to be unsearched too
After this I'll have to start looking at taking the bus further out
I've been throwing the stainless steel into a bucket, I heard the nonmagnetic stainless steel scraps for more than the magnetic 🧲 stuff, still a long long ways away from a bucket full
I sometimes wake up super early, like out the door by 4 or 5am to hunt the tot lots, never any kids in the tot lot at those hours, but you need a headlamp, and it's the coolest hours in the summer like 2am-7am
I'm going to need to start getting out earlier, it's been toasty! ☀
Are you going to try beast mode? I've been testing it in my very hunted yard and I found a single deep penny (9") but mostly iron. You don't get VDI with beast mode. So it's probably better if you are out hunting an older property than modern parks.
