    I make way more kefir than I can possibly drink. So 4 gallons of diluted kefir go on my hay field and Lawn everyday. It is great fertilizer. Even if the grass gets burnt the first few days, after a rain the grass grows two or three times faster than the surrounding areas. And much greener.

    I have some plain yogurt I did not eat prior to expiration. I'm not a big milk person and actually had 2 containers of yogurt expire one not even opened. I've always been very weary of out dated milk and yogurt. Just wondering if this would serve the same as milk diluted of course? Thanks & appreciate all your good stuff here. I had awesome growing tomatoes last yr and my 1st time. I used some egg shells & coffee around the top to they grew above my porch. Unfortunately praying now for my Cherry tomatoes and couple other plants to grow as I just got started last week. Thank you.

    • @GardenTips
      @GardenTips  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for commenting! Expired yogurt can be used to water plants dilute it to 50 percent or better lil more with water and water your plants with this. It’s thought beneficial microbes are very useful to the soil like how we need probiotics!
      Have a good day!

    I have a persistent problem with mildew for my potted kalanchoe plants. I sprayed them regularly with soap solution during summer. They recovered and grow tons of leaves. But to my dismay, the mildew returned and the leaves have been dropping and/or turning black. So sad. I will try your milk spray and hope that it would get rid of the destructive mildew once for all. But you said, only once a month with a 50:50 solution ?

      sleddheddious I ise milk and Epsom salt on my cannabis plants as a calmag, it also prevents and treats mold and pm, it also kills spider mites and other insects, as long as you dilute the milk you can use it every watering or as a foliar spray, works awesome

    • @sleddheddious755
      @sleddheddious755 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      How diluted should I use the milk? I grew weed indoors for twenty years, but I live in NY where it isn't legal yet. When my grandchildren needed to move in with me, I stopped growing herb and planted 150 jalapeno plants. I have Calmag, but I am trying to stay organic.

      sleddheddious for my girls I use about a cup per 5 gallons, but, milk wont hurt the plants, the way it appears in the video, they dont dilute it they just feed it straight, but, milk sours and this is why I ise powdered milk mixed with water, sugar, and Epsom, and a splash of peroxide

      Yes! flowering or fruiting plants require more phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium and zinc. Phosphorous n Potassium is most important for flowering - you can use banana peel or any fruit waste made solution and pour in garden soil. Put the fruit waste into water and use the liquid after 24 hours.

      GARDEN TIPS I have read similar comment on another gardener's vlog on microwaving bio waste and then grind and use it as fertiliser. But keeping them in Owen and make them dry can't we loose micro nutrients because of constant and high heat? Instead dry them in open air (in sunny day or under shade) would give much better results. What is your thought on this?

    • @GardenTips
      @GardenTips  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes of course drying in full sun for 1-2 days is the best solution. Microwave is a shortcut.

      Hi, Best is RAW MILK perhaps because the beneficial microbes for plants are not killed by boiling. You can use any milk like raw or boiled and even Milk powder in soil as a source of calcium.

      I meant spoilt milk or sour milk to use on plants which love lower ph level.
      After making Paneer, I think nothing is left over except water. So no calcium.

      Meaning is to use make it less nutrient rich or strong usually by adding water it is done to 1 get it spread over a larger area and 2 not over fertilizing the plants( it can be harmful for smaller plants and even if large plants can deal with it doesnt help the plant) and 3 its a waste to use more then nessessary.

    You need two acres of grass to raise 1 goat. How much goat milk is needed to fertilizer two acres of grass??? LOL

    • @Marilynkefirlady
      @Marilynkefirlady 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is not true. It takes one acre of hay field to feed six goats. Goats are not good grazers like cows and sheep. So I cut green chop for them every day. They have access to grass if they want to eat some directly but they don't eat enough to keep in good condition. The alfalfa/orchard grass haynfield is so lush that I am feeding a very small portion to my twelve goats. The rest of it I am cutting and using for mulch on my 1/4 acre garden to suppress weeds. The soil here keeps getting better and better.

      @@Marilynkefirlady Not here in Oregon when you have very hot dry summer. No grass can grow between early July and early September unless you water your grass like crazy. You have to supplement your goat with hay other than what you get from your field. In winter time when the grass grow very slowing, you can't feed your goats with grass from the field. So, for at least 5-6 months your goats have to feed on something else. I have two acres and I don't mow my lawn. I know how much grass I can get. There is no way you can feed 6 goats on just 1 acre of grass even for the 6-7 months that your field has grass. You may have enough grass for your 6 goats from your 1 acre of land only for 3 months (April to June) of a year.

    • @ArthurHau
      @ArthurHau 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Marilynkefirlady By the way, if you keep feeding your goats with your one acre of land without watering and without fertilizing it, your land will turn a desert within a couple of years.

      @@ArthurHau I live in Michigan. It rains here. There is plenty of grass on my six acres to feed fresh all summer and to make hay for winter. I only have 12 goats. So I also have enough to mulch my garden.

    • @Marilynkefirlady
      @Marilynkefirlady 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArthurHau The acre the goats live on is the most lush grass of all because they are fertilizing it. But they don't eat it down all the way. I have to mow it. It is rye grass and they don't like the taste as much as orchard grass. My six acre hay field is half orchard grass/ half alfalfa. The grass is crowding out the alfalfa more and more each year. Earlier I mowed the whole thing before it got too tall and let it drop. That is one way to fertilize in place without buying fertilizer. I spread diluted kefir on maybe 1/4 acre. I have to mow that area twice as often as the rest of the field. I did that last year and the year before. This year I have not put any milk products on my field or lawn. Those areas are still growing better. I think it has something to do with the probiotics in the milk unlocking the minerals in the clay and giving a better habitat for life..
