  • Today we are driving around Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and exploring their historically poverty stricken or more crime ridden areas. Pittsburgh is a western Pennsylvania city that was once an industrial powerhouse, famous for manufacturing and steel production. It's industrial legacy earned the city the moniker "The Steel City". However like most American cities it's heyday is decades removed as this city hit it's peak population of 676, 000 people in 1950 and has since withered down to 302,000 people where it stands today. Between 2010 and 2020 , the city lost 8% of it's population alone. We wanted to see why... so today we take a tour of the Historic Homewood section, then ride through some other notorious areas/housing projects of the city such as Homewood North Apartments, Spring Hill/City View and eventually making last stop at the Notorious Northview Heights Estates. Please let us know what you think in the comments.
Is this city MISERABLE or LIVABLE? Do you see potential or lack there of? Pittsburgh NATIVES or those familiar with the city, let us know where to visit when we come back or any spot we've missed. PLEASE LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE! THANK YOU FOR WATCHING!

I run a supply yard in North Versailles and do a good bit of deliveries to Wilkinsburg, Braddock, & McKeesport. Definitely some run down areas that are pretty sketchy even during the day, but the people living there buying landscaping products are doing their best to improve their community.

Great video. You definitely hit some of the worst areas. They tore down some of the worst row houses in Homewood on Hamilton Avenue and Formosa Way some years ago. That area was a center for a lot of gang activity in the '90s. But the houses are so damn ugly they must have originally been built for the guys with the worst, lowest-paying jobs in the steel mills, like sweeping the ash out of the coke ovens.

Thanks for the info. Yeah I heard about those townhouses. A lot of abandoned buildings and vacant lots all about still. Plan to come back for another tour. Thank you for watching.
