Historic Brighton hotel ravaged by fire

  • East Sussex fire and rescue service (ESFR) were called to the Royal Albion hotel on the seafront in Brighton at 5.24pm on Saturday 15 July 2023.
    A spokesperson for ESFR said of the emergency: “East Sussex fire and rescue service remains at the scene of a now 15 appliance fire in #Brighton. An incident command centre has been set up at the scene.
    “We are working with other emergency services and agencies including Sussex police, the Environment Agency and Water Board. Locals are being advised to avoid the area where possible.
    Sussex police said: “We are supporting the fire service at the Royal Albion hotel in Old Steine in Brighton. The Old Steine and part of Kings Road have been closed while the incident is ongoing. We are asking the public to please avoid the area.”
    Part of the hotel in Kings Road, Brighton, has been gutted and now plans are being made to demolish the facade.
    Firefighters from across the south east were called to tackle the huge fire.
    It began on the fourth floor but spread to the first.
    George O'Reilly, group commander at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, in charge of the response, speaking on Sunday afternoon said the facade of the building will be demolished so firefighters can put out the remnants of the blaze.
    The historic seafront structure has dominated the seafront ever since it Opened on 5th August in 1826

    Strange how the fire was in two different area of the building at the same time.. Very Strange.

      Probably dinghy-divers making a fire to keep warm in their taxpayer-funded room during the current "extreme" temperatures...!

      It's ok, the illegal aliens will be housed with English families who have young children, this is to make sure the settle in and learn our ways. Once that is done they will be given either a flat or house to live in, they won't have to pay any money as we as tax payers will fund everything for them.
