Thank you so much you are wonderful. My audiobook keeps getting rejected from Audible/ACX because of the one second of silence. This helped. I think I may be using the wrong measurement to time my clips. any advice on this. Thank you again! You are Great! gloria

I love this--I am doing things totally different. I edit on single track, and have different room tones on number keys 2-5 on the clipboard (1 being used for dialog replacement). Then I blend both these inserted roomtones as well as mouth sounds with the spot healing brush tool. I'm typically only an editor, who gets mostly pre-edited tracks from the VO artist, so the workflow is different.
But I really like your multitrack setup, as the dragging up and auto crossfading looks like a fantastic method. I appreciate the awesome tutorial.
Side note, your dropping a lot of frames in the recording, which sometimes makes it hard to follow the video.

How do you fix dropping frames? Is it my pc is too weak?

When you use a noise gate do you fill the silence with room tone?

Thanks Garrett. This was a great tutorial and very helpful. I've just started recording audiobooks can use all the help I can get :) Quick question... You don't go into the final exporting steps in this video. Have you covered that in another video? If not, would it be possible for you to do so?

What workspace are you editing in? I like the setup. Please share.

Uh, you know? I don't recall ever altering my workspace...so the answer is I don't know! I know it's not the default one, but I must have picked it so long ago that I've forgotten the name.

Hey Garrett, thanks for this tutorial. Super helpful. Question--any thoughts about Audition's new(ish) punch and roll recording? I'm working on recording an audiobook and still finding it tricky to edit when I record in punch and roll.

I use a plugin for that, which has been around for a while. It's a great plugin. If Adobe gave us in-program punch and roll, that's news to me! I'll try it when I can.

@@GarrettRobinson Yes, I believe it came out in April. Which plugin did you use? Any tips for editing in punch and roll mode? Or do you pretty much treat it just the same?

No, it's quite different! And honestly it's MUCH easier with punch and roll. You almost never have to fix timing. You're just repairing the breaks between files, and filling them with silence and then crossfading the ends. Then, of course, you still have to fix mouth sounds in the middle of and between words. But overall the process is much faster and easier, because you're not having to remove outtakes/fix timing through the whole edit.

Great, thanks. If you get a chance to use the new Audition punch and roll mode and have any thoughts on it, I'd be curious to hear. :) Thanks for your replies and your videos.
