This has been a mind boggling problem that I've had for a while now with my 2000 Mercury Sable. The theft light flashes rapidly and it creates a no start/crank condition. However it's a intermittent problem. Sometimes it will start up just fine. This seems to be a PATS related problem. I have replaced the transceiver and key and still have the same problem. Replaced the neutral safety switch and still have the same problem. Pulled ignition inspected, clean and lubed, still have the same problem. The only thing I can think of is that the PCM may possibly be bad??? Please keep us updated on the status. This is a very frustrating problem and I really wish I knew how to completely bypass the PATS system. Thanks for posting this video.
Check fuses first.. My excursion had the PATS (passive anti theft system) blow a fuse. Would crank but wouldn't start. Look up the fuse names and look for PATS first.
Aaron Kimmins Will do in the am. From what I have seen the PATS system goes out on these a lot. Sadly it won't even crank but I have already ruled out the started and battery. Fuel rail pressure sensor is going out but not related to this issue. I will post updates as the repair proceeds.
Yeah, fuse is easiest...always start with easiest.if it's not even cranking pull up on shifter while you turn the key! Mine likes to not go in park. If that doesn't do it put in neutral and crank
I’m so pissed off at my 04 Expedition same thing. Having key guy come tomorrow. He thinks it PATS problem. About ready to create the demolition derby style ignition with an on off switch and pus button ignition. I hate friggen computers. Maybe I’ll by a like new 72 Chevy $20,000 restores truck and make it my everyday driver. I’ve had it with this electronic junk no one knows what’s wrong. Spend. Oops that’s not it. Spend more. Well sorry that’s not it. Try something else. Well that’s not it either. Spend $1000 on 2000 dollar ride. Still won’t run.
jsumuano Yes for me it was the battery cable. disconnect the negative and see if that works. I did do another video on the subject if you want to check it out.

Anybody have any luck yet? 2004 Ford Explorer with exact same issue, and rapid anti theft light when i try turning over. No crank/start. Thanks!
