Idk what everyone is talking about abt in the comments… but you are absolutely correct. Now more so than ever. Maybe when you posted this they were still selling for new prices even when used. But the knife market has taken a big hit in the last few months. Last 2 weeks alone multiple sebenzas sold for 200-350 on the swap! Good call!
6 months later, if you want a Sebenza 31 in magnacut I would advise just picking one up at full price. The used one sell in hours on the forums and don’t sell for that much less. Unless you have the time to hunt one down for week to save $75.
Because there’s a 4 year wait from the factory…..so you are saying because it doesn’t fit your hand , we should all return our Large Sebenzas? Fits my hand
Holy guacamole you are a crazy man but it’s fun to listen to your videos. No one needs a $500 knife. It just feels good in the pocket. In fairness the Chris Reeve in magna cut 31 is the best knife in the world. It’s the Rolex Daytona of pocket knives. Of course you don’t need it but life isn’t about what you need. It’s about what you want.
What absolute fucking knucklehead buys a knife and gives a fuck about resale? You goddamn dorks need to realize its a knife. Not a toy. Not a piece of jewelry. A mass produced consumer good of lower cost. Stop it
I prefer my Emerson’s. I have a bunch of 21s that sit in my drawers. I carry them on occasion but I don’t give a fck about the next best super steel. Been collecting since the 90s. We used to use ATS34 and BG42. I still love 1095. Learn how to sharpen a knife and you don’t need to worry about all the super steel hype. And yes I have magnacut, it’s a good steel but doesn’t matter to me much. The heat treat is more important to me.
This is such a strange video, I don’t know how you arrived at some of these conclusions. Don’t buy Magnacut because it will eventually be outdone by another steel? Magnacut is one of the biggest jumps in EDC steel quality I’ve seen in my lifetime, if there’s any “super-steel” that actually lives up to its hype, it’s this one. I think it’ll be quite some time before a new steel comes along that trumps Magnacut in every department, but when “forevercut” finally arrives, could you not just make the exact same argument against it? Why buy anything if we can assume it will eventually be outdone? It just makes no sense. Then you immediately follow by saying you don’t even need Magnacut and you’ll never use it to its full potential anyway, after telling us to wait for an even better steel to arrive. You don’t think those two points kind of contradict one another? What’s the point in making the budget knife argument when we’re talking about a $500 knife anyway? A CRK is a grail knife for most people, no one buys a Sebenza because they just need an EDC knife. They’re expensive and hard to find, anyone who buys one does so because they specifically sought out that particular knife.
Well said. Not sure how I stumbled across this dude with small hands channel, but what a waste. This guy reminds of someone that thinks the greatest knife ever is a Gerber Paraframe.
I am a sucker because I paid full pop for a new sebenza. Large magnacut. I had to get it cause it is a PDW w/ kraken waves on it. Dream knife. I have the money. My only folder.
..so dont buy it cuz magnacut will be obsolete...someday? Never buy anything.. ever. Cuz ive got a surprise for you.. every product ever has this "problem"
Sorry, but you’re mistaken and wrong about the financial and the resale value. This always holds at value and yes you may get $50 off but is that worth it? This knife always retain its value and in five years you will be able to sell it for almost 470 which is what they cost brand new. That’s just the way it is with this brand. Wonderful video by the way
Someone literally sold a Large Sebenza for $375 3 days ago: www.reddit.com/r/Knife_Swap/comments/15zg7k9/wts_large_sebenza_31_w_inlay_for_375/ on Knifeswap. The point that I was trying to say is that Sebenza Large in Magnacut (today in August 2023) is probably the worst time to buy it. It's because this knife was just recently released. But if you wait a bit, it'll go the way of all the others, and you'll get for about 25 to 35% off. Let someone else take the hit on depreciation.
That sale must be an anomaly - you are 100% incorrect about resale. I have a huge CRK collection and sold 2 of my 17 to make room for some MagnaCut - both sold for 20% over what I paid for them. CRK holds value better than any knife, their 6 years backlog attests to the demand.
You are correct, CRK resale value is incredible, demand for CRK has never been higher and as a big collector I can tell you CRK is at the very top of the knife game.
Can’t find a 31 dp anywhere in stock atm, even in the fb groups the knife is selling at retail or over retail. If you happen find a deal on one it’s either an anomaly or the knife is heavily used.
Get on the list today…. In 6 years, you’ll pay 2023 prices. I ordered a Mnandi in January of 2020. At the time the wait list was 14-18 months. I prepaid it and almost 4 years later, I’m still waiting…. (I’m a lefty and the rarely make lefty runs)When it comes, I won’t even have to pull out my wallet and when I think about it, I’ll have paid 2020 prices. In 21’ I ordered the Sebenza, when my time comes, I can always refuse the order but CR charges you “when you order” prices, not “current pricing”. The value is in it when it arrives!
Jesus Christ, no. I've been getting these way cheaper on r/knifeswap. If you look here, these are what they're selling for by other fellow knife people. You just have to be patient: www.reddit.com/r/Knife_Swap/search/?q=sebenza%2031&restrict_sr=1&type=link&t=month
I got mine off DLT a couple days ago, got a noti they came back in stock and jumped on it, especially since seeing they had a 3-4 year waiting list on the CRK website.
Edit: The discussion about Mora knives isn't to say that you should get it instead. It's moreso to say that for the majority of people that would consider a hard-use knife, the Mora Companion or equivalent is really what most people need. What of course makes the Sebenza an amazing knife is that it's beautiful, excellently engineered with excellent craftsmanship. The use-case is a very personal thing but I much preferred the Small over the Large. So the video isn't so much me saying that Sebenzas are no good. It's me saying the Large, in particular, wasn't as useful to me. The Small instead got much more use for me as an EDC knife and I still use it. I also think it's possible to get a much better deal with Sebenza knives than retail. If you're patient you can get amazing deals on Sebenza knives here. www.reddit.com/r/Knife_Swap/search/?q=sebenza%2031&restrict_sr=1&type=link&t=month
There is a lot to the Seb that you aren’t telling. I can get the ergos aren’t for you. But, it’s not that hard to find them on forums/groups brand new that isn’t raised ridiculously high. Comparing a Mora is not in the same category whether it fits your hand better or not. It’s a fixed blade and isn’t riding in your pocket like a seb would. I just think you could have done a lot better with explaining why you don’t like it. Steels will always keep evolving. To say that “I won’t buy this at this price because the steel won’t be at a level it is now in the future” is a bit ridiculous.
No one cares. Do what you want. Take those small hands, package up the coolest knife on the planet and return it. I'll keep mine. Not that you care about that either. 😂😂
I really want a large inkosi or seven a but I just love the smalls so much lol I have 3 small sebenzas and a small inkosi I rotate between as daily carries
A large sebenza magnacut is the perfect e d c knife for life. The sebenza 31 has been perfected.
Couldn’t agree more, it’s perfect. I respect his opinion but those other knives don’t even compare.
Idk what everyone is talking about abt in the comments… but you are absolutely correct. Now more so than ever. Maybe when you posted this they were still selling for new prices even when used. But the knife market has taken a big hit in the last few months.

Say "full pop" one more time and see what happens.

The resale value is incredible? And you can always send your knife back in for spa treatment to make it look brand new before reselling

I have never seen a mike stand looking better and in sharper focus. Could not see the knives you were waiving about though
Lay off the red bull dude
You didn’t watch this on 2x?

The Protech Mordax is also a great choice.

Check out r/knifeswap. They often go on sale. Magnacut however is still at full retail or near full price.@@Razor_Regiment

You recommend buying a $15 fixed blade instead.........................🧐

I just got the large 31 and won’t be wasting money on another. CRK is behind the times.
cocaine is a hell of a drug
Why would I buy a knife new? Because I want a knife that I know it’s history.
There is a lot to the Seb that you aren’t telling. I can get the ergos aren’t for you. But, it’s not that hard to find them on forums/groups brand new that isn’t raised ridiculously high. Weirdest knife video on TH-cam...and I love it!😂

valid points, dude

You’re the sucker for buying two Sebenzas in the first place?
Keep your small hands out of picture. They are just a big blur. Maybe put them in your pockets and your video will look better.
Set playback speed to .75
Dude I hope you don’t mind a little advice : Stop bouncing around
"Full ___" what? Full pop?
Who cares?
Trashes the Sebenza and then recommends utter rubbish that’s better.
Yikes terrible video
