- In this video I install an aftermarket radio in to my 2011 Jeep Wrangler. I was surprised with how much this radio could do for the price! Not only does it offer wireless apple CarPlay but also includes a module that allows you to retain your steering wheel controls! I would recommend this radio even at their full price of $170. Works great! Thanks for the tutorial. My stock radio kept cutting in and out then stopped all together. Just installed this and it works perfect. Louder than the stock. CarPlay works just fine and so far the mic picks up my voice very well. Switching between certain menus does make it think/skip, but only for a fraction of a second. I got the 32g unit. Thanks again.

@@Edscomment My Jeep is an unlimited trim so I only have volume and skip on my steering wheel, both of those still work with the included controller. If you have the Sahara or Rubicon all the other controls are suppose to work, but unfortunately I can’t verify that. Thank you for watching!

Thanks for the video. I just installed the 2GB version into my 2014 wrangler Sahara which had the UConnect/SiriusXM touch screen radio. It works well and I’m really surprised at the value you get here. Have you figured out how to remove apps from the Home Screen in order to add the ZLink app?
Awesome, thank you for watching! I have not added the Zlink app to the home page, I wasn’t aware you could do that so I’ll look into it. I always wait for it to auto boot which takes about 15 seconds or open the app page and click the Zlink app. I’ll try and see if I can get it added to the home page and update you if I figure it out.

Thank you! I still listen to Sirius XM with this radio. I didn’t purchase their extension to plug into the radio, but I have the Sirius XM app and can listen to that using the Car Play feature. I sure could use some advice on the camera install. Reversing rigger line called a6. However no lines is marked as such…I’ve got key1 and key 2. White, brown…anybody know which it might be?
Also at rear of truck. Red connects to positive pole of reverse light cable? Could use some help on that…and camera power cable black to ground I understand but red goes to reversing light cable???ugh I need help…
@@vinceowens165 thank you for watching! I had a similar issues and took me awhile to figure out, very frustrating. I’m going to do a reverse camera install video, just haven’t had time to record yet. Back by the camera you have a red, black, and another red wire connected to that yellow RCA type connector. Black goes to ground, both reds tie together and go to the power side of your reverse light. Then the yellow RCA cable by your radio had a red wire that need to be hooked up as a trigger. If you have the same radio I do, this wire was not labeled but is the pink wire in the main power harness on the radio. I hope this helps and I was able to explain ok, if not keep an eye out for the reverse camera video and I’m going to cover all of this. Thanks again for watching!

Thank you! I got the 1+32g for car play, there are some other options that have more memory. The one I got is the base model and is the cheapest. Whichever one you pick read through their description and make sure it fits your year model jeep. Thank you for watching!

Hey, great video! Very informative. Do you know if the reverse camera will only come on when the Jeep is in reverse? Having a two door I don't really need a backup camera and am wondering if it can be mounted on the front of the Jeep and turned on while not in reverse? Like the front cameras on the new Jeeps.
Thank you! The way I have it set up the camera receives power and turns on while in reverse. You could mount it on the front though and put the power side on a toggle switch. That would let you turn the front camera on when out on the trail or something. Thanks for watching!

@@paulswanholm-do3un Absolutely! I try to reply as quick as possible. At around 9:15 in the video I show how I ran the wire for the GPS, I mounted it on top of the dash in the center. My dash has a little square cast into the plastic and that’s where I stuck it. I realize I didn’t get a great shot of doing this but hope that answers your question.
@@JKJeep It did. I bought one and while hooking it up realized where you mounted the GPS antenna.
Unfortunately, the radio turned out to be a piece of crap and needs to get sent back. It seemed to be working at first, but now has quite a few problems.
I'm not blaming you, maybe I got a bad one, I don't know. Oh well
@@paulswanholm-do3un sorry to hear that! I hope the seller got you a new one or refunded your money. On a good note, at least this radio doesn’t require and mods to the dash so you didn’t cut up your dash to put in a bad radio. I wish you the best in getting something you will enjoy!
Was just wondering where you ended up connecting the microphone and if it has 3M tape on the bottom side to attach it somewhere on the dash

Correct me if I’m wrong but how is the sound quality. My jk comes with the alpine system and I’m curious to see if sound quality is affected at all with this install
Thanks for watching! I could not tell a difference from the stock unit, if anything this one sounded better than stock. But, my stock unit was their basic one. This radio is too much for the factory speakers, so I’m looking at upgrading to some Alpine speakers soon.

I still love this radio, and you can’t beat all the features you get at this price! Glad I purchased it and I would recommend to anyone wanting to get a car play capable radio that doesn’t have a ton of money to spend. Thank you for watching

You showed the volume on the steering wheel control works with the unit, but how about the previous/next buttons and answer call button? Will they work with the unit as well? Thank you
The previous and next buttons also work for skipping songs. I have been impressed with the features of this radio at this price point. My Jeep does not have the phone button on the steering wheel so I cannot say for certain, but I bet it does work. With the included mic, I can use the phrase "hey Siri" to bring up the assistant to initiate phone calls and text as well as reply to text. Thank you for watching!

How’s the lag? It looks like it’s lagging a bit from when you touched it to when it actually moved.
Thank you for watching! There is a little lag but it’s not terrible. It is pretty responsive to switching between screens, but the transition isn’t as smooth as your phone or a higher end unit. When on the main screen, listening to music while using the GPS there is no noticeable lag. Overall better than I expected out of a unit at this price point. I would still recommend this if you are looking to get wireless car play in your vehicle with something you can put in yourself without spending a fortune. Thanks again for watching

FM reception is not the best. It picks up local channels well, but others I use to listen to don’t come in very clear. Since installing I only use Apple car play and stream the music and stations I want to hear and it works great for that. Thanks for watching!

I have no sound with radio everything works but no sound i have alpine speakers how do i hook up to 2017 wrangler jk not sure why it works with no sound need help?!
Dang, that is not good sorry that happened. Luckily the harness they provide makes it so you don’t have to cut your factory harness. Have you reached out to their customer service? That has to be a bad unit it it’s not putting out any sound. I hope they take care of you and get this resolved quickly. Thanks for watching!

How many watts per channel is it versus the factory radio?
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I have looked through the literature that came with the radio, and I am unable to find the answer to your question. I couldn’t find a watt rating on the radio itself either.
Ok, is the volume high? What is the max volume number?
Also, does the phone button on the steering wheel activate the radio
@@antjuanrivera the max volume is 30, it’s pretty loud. I would even go as far to say it sounds slightly louder and then stock even with stock speakers still. My Jeep does not have the phone button, but if you have it then it should bring up your phone assistant to make calls/text. It comes with a microphone, I can just say “Siri” and have my phone send a text or make a call all through the Apple car play.
