Daoiri has just been here in Australia at the National Folk Festival, fantastic intimate recording here. Where is part 2? I love your pronunciation of Bodhran!
I know the feeling about the first music teacher. As a teenager interested in folk music and raised hearing Irish traditional music, I wanted to learn to play acoustic guitar. My teacher had an electric guitar and the first song he tried to teach me was Free Bird. I had never heard the song, so the music made no sense to me. Had he understood where I was, musically, maybe he would have taught me some John Denver, Pete Seeger, or The Wild Rover. Years later in my thirties, I picked up a Tin Whistle and tabbed songbook at a shop in Kerry, I instinctively taught myself to blow harder to get the higher octave without understanding anything more than which holes to cover and knowing the tunes.
This lad is unreal, its like Andy Irvine all over again!!...I’d listen to him all day
