  • ▶️ ☕ The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities sponsored an event, Saturday, December 28, at the soon-to-be-opened Grand Egyptian Museum to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest mosaic created with 7,260 cups of coffee. The mosaic resembled the famous Tutankhamun mask.
👉 The event was held at the museum, which houses the sarcophagi and the treasured collection of Tutankhamun's tomb, all considered centerpieces of the new museum which Egypt will open next year near the Pyramids of Giza.
Organizers say the execution of the portrait took nearly 12 hours in which 7,260 plastic cups, 65 kilograms of coffee, 1,000 liters of milk and 3,000 liters of water were used.
The event was organized by the Tut Coffee company, in cooperation with Egypt's Antiquities authorities, as well as the participation of people with disabilities as volunteers.
In order to fulfill the Guinness requirements, the cups of coffee were distributed to thousands of workers at the site of the Grand Egyptian Museum in order not to waste the resources put into the portrait, organizers said. (VOA/Reuters/AFP)
