I prefer double feature DVD's over standalone one movie per DVD. That's how we did it back in the drive-in days. Watch the first movie, take a quick break for bathroom and kitchen refreshments, come back and watch the second feature. Dark Force Entertainment's numbered drive-in double features are the coolest ones to have. Original lobby card artwork, two features, a cartoon, and some old school commercials from our grandparents era. The only thing missing is watching 'em in the great outdoors the way God intended.
The reason Slumber Party Massacre III is out of print was because Roger Corman's son filed a lawsuit against his dad, back when he first tried to sell his film library to Shout!. I don't know what internal agreement or contract the Corman family had that caused the suit in the first place, but the final settlement allowed Corman to sell to Shout! the first two parts of his library, the films made under his New World and Concorde banners, which went from the 70's to the very early 90's. The films from the other two companies New Horizons And New Concorde are owned by an entirely different entity. So be prepared to wait for Slumber Party Massacre III, Carnosaur and all those late 90's remakes.
@@beyondsourgrounds5602 The first one was put out by Scorpion Releasing years ago, so there might be some floating around. Hard To Die hasn't been seen since VHS!
@@BillFromEllerslie I'm fortunate to have the old doube feature DVD with SHM and SHM 2. I may pick up the Scorpion disc someday, but I'd really like to see someone do a nice blu-ray boxset with all 3 films!
I really miss the double pack they had and you are right about Troll/Troll 2 because I bought their second print and they didn't have the documentary. I only have some of them.
Dungeonmaster is awesome. I love W.A.S.P also. The double pack i wished I would have known about before it went OOP is Deathstalker and Barbarian Queen.
I watch those films on Tubi playing it in background muted and blasting on my 2 channel Stereo Tower speakers W.A.S.P 💨💨 is freaking scary 😳 adds deeper dimension. If u select right track it better than MTV music video.
That Ghoulies I & II combo I payed $110 a few years back , although these days I'm not a fan of being a sucker to "market prices". It's the original box art that I go for the most. Also funny how you mention the pixely art on some releases from Amazon. I've got a copy of Star Crystal in that very quality.
I have most of these too. Not sure what Shout's deal is with the Slumber Party series. Its great to have SPM and SPM 2 on 4K/blu-ray, but I don't understand why they've let part 3 go out of print, and I don't understand why they aren't releasing Sorority House Massacre, Sorority House Massacre 2, and Hard To Die as well. I would encourage everyone to hold onto their DVDs and blu-rays for Visiting Hours and Bad Dreams as Disney acquired those in their 20th Century Fox acquisition so who knows if those films will ever since the light of day again. I'm absolutely convinced someone is working on 4Ks for Troll and Troll 2 right now. It may very well be MVD but I'd love to see Severin do them. My favorite Claudio Fragasso flicks are Troll 2 and Monster Dog so I'd love to see those two restored in 4K.
Goodbadflicks (Cecil) did a episode of Witchery and the movie itself looks hilarious in a cheesy way. His videos are where I discovered a lot of gems including Sleepaway camp and The Nest. A few of these movies I still want to watch. I absolutely love Terrorvision and Slumber party massacre.
I own everyone . I Also have all the midnight movies on dvd double packs also awesome video ps in the video dead when the kid flushes the whole bag of weed down the toilet that just kills me
I still have the Corman Classics DVD triple pack of the Slumber Party Massacre trilogy (signed by Brinke Stevens!) from Shout Factory. I was disappointed that Scream didn't release this set on Blu-ray. I'm sure it was a matter of losing rights to part 3.
I have the slumber party 1-3 in dvd which is good enough for me lol I was upgrading for a while but now I just want to some new releases like, Leif Jonkers Darkness. They just keep re-releasing the same stuff!
@ I know, I keep checking up on it and the guy in charge of the release just says he had health issues. There are so many releases I’d love on blu ray though.
Couple you didn't mention one that you really need to own which is The Curse and Curse II - The Bite. Curse II is just batshlt crazy, such a fun fun movie worth the price of admission for that alone! The other is Vendetta and Naked Vengeance, I wouldn't call them horror, more revenge action flicks but they are on the scream factory double bill label andl both are definitely worth a watch.
The Beyond Darkness you are holding is a different film than the Beyond the Darkness Severin films restored. The one from Severin is a Joe D'Amato movie. Yes, it gets confusing. To make it even worse, there is even another one from Germany called Darkness Beyond (or L'Altrove) which is as far as I know the first and only time anyone anywhere has ever attempted to put H.P. Lovecraft's 'The Horror out of Time' to film. That movie scared the crap out of me which is why I give L'Altrove a 10/10. In America it only has a long oop VHS tape and that's it. There is an Italian DVD, but its a PAL disc. I think even that DVD is hard to find now.
Was looking copies of EMPIRE OF THE ANTS and FOOD OF THE GODS for ages before Kino released them, and it drove me crazy that that the two 1970s, giant-animal films from AIP were not paired together in the Scream Factory double feature blu rays (EotA was paired with JAWS OF SATAN, which seems like a better fit with FROGS to me anyways), especially given how expensive they movies were to get at that time.
Visiting Hours is the most underrated and unseen 80's slasher film....I personally like visiting hours MORE then Halloween 2. Its a hospital slasher with michael ironside and its ironsides best leading bad guy role. Bad dreams is not good...i tried 3 different times and its boring and i fall alseep at the 30 minute mark. christian, i think you need to sit down and give visiting hours another chance because every person i put that movie onto they wind up LOVING it.
Amazon screwed me over big time on the Scream Factory double feature that had High Spirits. I pre-ordered it, and then it was delay after delay, then a forced cancellation by Amazon, then I ordered again, delayed again and then it went out of print with no explanation and immediately skyrocketed in price over $100 a copy immediately on ebay. I love High Spirits, that's the only horror comedy that ever gave me bad dreams the first time I saw it on TV a long long time ago. I was never able to get the mgm DVD either, it was also stupidly out of print. Why is the one movie I was forced to watch on youtube in 480p just to see it again and finally laugh at that movie, so freaking darn unavailable. Is High Spirits another one where one of the crew members in trouble with the law?
Christian, "El Cheapo". I prefer individual releases. I don't mind collections from tje same series (Saw, Nightmare)...My only excpection is from movies/series I LOVE like Game of Thrones were I want each Season. But don't like multipacks.
I don't think Shout Factory is really for the fans anymore. Night of the Demons 2 & 3 should have been offered up as a Scream Factory double feature set, but instead they decided to milk us for each one at collector's edition prices. I'm also annoyed they chose not to do a hard case collector's set for all of the Child's Play movies. So I lost out on their slipcover first runs of Bride and Seed because they were charging too much for each one and ever since I have lost all desire to keep up with Scream Factory's new releases.
Two movies on one disc is not my idea of high quality, but there is a missed opportunity there. They should have given you the option to play them back to back, like a double feature with an intermission and trailers for their other double movie discs.
Scream Factory's website exclusive blu-ray double feature of Amazons / Barbarian Queen will be their downfall. Scream Factory fans are still salty over the super limited quantity of that one which you had to be ready to hit purchase at the stroke of midnight to get that release before it was gone. I am one of the lucky ones who does have it.

I love these double packs. My favorite one ever is the Terrorvision/The Video Dead. I agree that we need a 4k Troll and Troll 2!
Terrorvision is so much fun. Gerrit Graham is wonderfully deranged and the whole cast is having the time of their life. Great effects too!
I used to watch Love At First Bite all the time as a kid. I haven't seen it since then, so about 35 years, but I remember loving it.
I LOVE the Scream Factory double features, they feel like home version of the drive-in double show!

I just got the Umbrella Troll1n2 double pack because the Scream Factory one is $50 on ebay.
I’m so glad you like the video dead ! I really enjoyed it and feel like a lot of people don’t like it much but I enjoyed it 🎥🩸🧟♀️👍

I've been meaning to pick up the Terror Vision Video Dead double feature for quite awhile
The only Scream Factory double pack I own is Eddie And The Cruisers 1 & 2.
I started first with collecting Videos than by DVD and after that it's Now Blu-ray and 4K Now Man!!!😉☮️🖤
When I first started collecting back in 2000, I hated combo packs lol I wanted individual cases for everything

Just in case you didn't know, 101 Films brought out Slumber Party Massacre I & II in 2024. Both films are in 4k.
The Schizoid/XRay double Scream Factory pack on Blu-ray was also good as well imo
“The under carriage” 😂

Ghost House and Witchery were La Casa 3 and 4 in Italy. Promoted as sequels to Evil Dead 1 and 2 😂
Once bitten is still in print
I have the double pack of slumber party massacre 2 and 3 from scream factory but that's been long out of print
Cool
Terror Vision and Video Dead was the best one.
I have a few of those SF double packs. I have the troll/troll 2 with the best worst movie, Terrorvison/the video dead & Blacula/scream blacula scream

I have the ROTOR and Millennium double pack
