      This is certainly one of the nicest car designs of the postwar era. But, I would have to say that the best design in my opinion is the early 1950's Bentley Continental R Type fastback coupe. The fastback design is quite extraordinary and very sleek in appearance. They made about 200 of these cars and some have sold at auction for over $2,000,000.

      @@boblacks945 I always thought the Continental R Type fastback appeared bloated, heavy, and cumbersome.

    Now I was thinking what a beautiful car . I love the 55 Chrysler models and an Italian coach built one ! Then you talk about the history and I start to really take notice.

    • @matrox
      @matrox 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      No...not really. Looks like they took queues from the 55' Mark II Lincoln, designed by Elwood Engle. Chrysler would later fire Virgil Exner and hire Elwood Engle to replace him. Chrysler then began to design more stylish cars like the beautiful.64-66 Imperial Crown models.

    • @OceanJoe-cy8rx
      @OceanJoe-cy8rx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Agree, never seen one before, they make the Mark II exterior look crude. Love the tail lights borrowed from the regular Chrysler of that year.

    • @yoregano
      @yoregano 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Don't you get it? This isn't a regular production car. It's a custom based on a 300 model.

    • @michaelverinder8158
      @michaelverinder8158 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      If I were you I would tread very carefully about criticizing the Lincoln because the Chrysler is sporting Mark 2 taillights and the Lincoln was a production Luxury Boat type automobile while the Chrysler was more of a sportster set of wheels like maybe a Thunderbird. If you ever drive a Mark 2 you will find that they're no slouch. I had a '56 Chrysler 300 and it was super quick unfortunately the previous owner had driven it very hard and it suffered engine and transmission problems.

    On first sight I thought it was one of Graber's variations on the 1950s Alvis TC21, but was totally knocked out when I read 'Chrysler 300B' which meant that it was American AND about 60 years old! It could so easily be mistaken for a British or top marque European car of that time, except that they would look old today. This car has a truly timeless beauty about it.The guy who commissioned it was a true visionery. Without question the most beautiful car I have seen in my 80 years, and is a credit to the restoration team. Whoever paid $1.1m for it got it so very cheap!

      Joe, There was a Detroit based company named Dual Motors that produced a Chrysler based car with a Ghia body between 1956 and 1958; it was know as the Dual Ghia, there were 117 made and were very popular with the Hollywood set including Sinatra and Martin. The Chrysler 300B in the Video was bodied by Boano who only did 2 cars of their own design this one and the Lincoln Indianapolis show the car. Both were single unit production making them true one of one auto's. Thanks for watching.

    So who stole this design from who? It looks suspiciously like a Bentley Flying Spur of the same era.

      In a 1995 letter from Gian Palo Boano he states "Ordered new in April 1955 by Gianni Agnelli the car was to be a, "2-seat coupe with a powerful, modern mechanical system '" a classic. British-style coupe, not a modern shape." So that explains that althought the Chrysler is a much more gracefull design and exicution and the Bentley is more stiff upper lip; in my opinion. Thanks for watching.

    Don’t you just love when car companies pass over a great car design and continue to crap
