- Originally a traditional miner’s song- the word “Shosholoza” means “go forward “or “make way for the next man”, in Ndebele, but the song also mixes in Zulu lyrics. Nels
on Mandela described how he sang Shosholoza as he worked during his imprisonment on Robben Island. He described it as "a song that compares the apartheid struggle to the motion of an oncoming train" and went on to explain that "the singing made the work lighter". The song became globally famous after the Rugby World Cup of 1995.
Not a bad version of this favourite song.
