Hi Jane, so recognizable your talking about having your adult children home for a while, enyoiing it so much and the feeling of melancholy when they are leaving. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jane, Some lovely projects on show today ❤ I know what you're feeling about kids leaving home. I have four children, so it was a mixture of relief ( that you survived raising decent human beings) but sad because I think as a mother, our life changes more dramatically once they leave, 2 children moved quite a distance, whilst 2 stayed closer to home. I now enjoy the time with my grandchildren, and two grndaughters who are showing interest in knitting and crochet, it's such a delight to encourage and help along budding makers, away from mobile phones etc. Have a lovely week Jane, and I certainly appreciate all of the content makers on YT ❤ P.s..I've pre ordered my Laine
Hi Jane, Lovely pod, thank you. I totally agree about the kids, I'm so happy my boys have turned into lovely men and great dads. I do miss them as they have moved away so every opportunity to spend time with them is precious. Please could you tell me how much yarn the larger "Pressed Flower Bandana' took. I'd love to make one but not sure if I have enough of the yarn I want to use. Thank you.
Thank you for posting about St Mawes, my husband's uncle used to be headmaster there years ago. We miss Cornwall even though we haven't lived there for over 20 years. ❤
Hi Jane. Another lovely podcast. I have completed one MKAL although it wasn’t a West knits one. I knew it was going to be a circular shawl with some lace. And I only agreed to it because my daughter really wanted us to do it together. Which was lovely as she lives a few hours away and it felt lovely to do it with her.
My friends and I are knitting the Lady Violet by Twinset and Purl together. It is knit on 6mm needles, a bit of lace but otherwise just an easy knit. We have chosen different colours of yarn and different yarn combinations. It's great to all knit something together as it creates a community of knit chat and support. ❤
Hello Jane, thank you for another lovely episode, and the footage of your trip. Always very much appreciated! I absolutely love that neckline (and the colourwork) on the easy V sweater. As for (M)KALs, they are not for me, I am not steady enough, I will knit for two weeks without a break and then stop and not knit at all for a week or two, so it´s not for me. What happened to Stephen West last year was a mean attack that - i my humble opinion - was meant to hurt him but did the opposite, it got him loads of additional PR. I looked at the original design. Long and hard and from every possible angle. I found nothing wrong with it, one had to be determined to interpret something into it that was never there. And do believe me I am very sensible to that kind of thing. The way Stephen West handled the situation was as dignified as it was intelligent. That being said, I am not a fan of his desings but i respect him as a person and as such, he was wronged and he handled it brillantly.
I agree and thank you for your thoughts. I think he is a great person and teacher but his style is not for me. I felt really sorry for him last year so I am hoping this year goes well for him. Thank you for watching and yes this neckline is fab 🥰
I totally agree with putting the difficult things down - like stranded colourwork - and relax with the "bread and butter" knitting 😅 Like you said: it depends on the mood one is in. I usually have 4-5 projects going at a time.
Hi, I’m doing the Stephen West KAL for the first time. As a bit of a control freak it came as a surprise to me that I would want to!! But I even went for the mystery wool kit so not only I didn’t know what it would look like I didn’t even know what colour the wool would be!! The wool is beautiful and I know the shawl will be. His designs are works of art and even if I don’t wear it, it will be proudly displayed. I love that it will be a total surprise, as what passes for a grown up, there are few genuine surprises so I’m passing control to Stephen!!
Oh I agree his designs are a work of art. I am tempted by one or two of the previous ones but some are just too out there for me so that’s why I like to wait and see what the design is like. I am sure you will have a blast and learn so much ☺️ enjoy 😊
I’m loving your podcasts. Your voice is so soothing! I have knitted several Stephen West patterns and they are always really interesting and I love the finished result but I haven’t managed a mystery knit along yet though I would like to. Loves the footage of St Mawes. There is a picture somewhere of me aged 8 or 9 sitting on a cannon there! 😂
Hello, Jane, Related to your reflections on spending time with grown children: I'm the oldest of three; one of my younger brothers married at 20. We were able to visit often and I loved his five children and many grands, but rarely were we able to spend time one on one. One year shortly before Christmas when we were both in our sixties, he came to visit for three days. He has since passed; I do treasure those memories. Like you, I'm not willing to spend time and money on mystery MALs. I do watch from the sidelines, but I'd never keep up and probably never finish. My local knit group meets weekly, each working on her own project. We learn from and inspire one another.
Thank you for sharing what must be a very precious memory for you. Sorry for your loss but it sounds like you had a wonderful connection to your brother and his family which is lovely. Local knit groups are the best. Our line at the shop has brought together so many people who are now friends and regularly inspire and help each other. 🥰
I totally agree, spending time with grown up children together is very special. It’s hard to believe that for so long it was an everyday thing that we took for granted. I’m having a Big Birthday very soon. I’m going away for the weekend with the three families but on the actual day I’m having lunch with just my three children , now in their 40s and 50s … very special. I also agree that I don’t want to knit something until I know what it is, and I prefer to choose my own schedule. Great podcast, thank you.
Thank you. Happy birthday when it comes and what a lovely way to spend it. For my 60th we just had us for a weekend away and it was special. I hope you have a fabulous time 🥰
Another lovely podcast, thank you Jane. Loving the Easy V jumper. MKALs, I have done Steven West's last two shawls. I enjoy the mystery, in part due to his obvious excitement in the video made for each part of the pattern release. With him, you never know the direction, techniques or anything really. And I do learn techniques. However it is also the community spirit and connection, encouraging and supporting each other along the way. So even a KAL is fun to do.
Thank you for keeping me company this afternoon. I have never done a MKAL, as I am not sure I could keep up with work and life. If I did I would want to know what I was knitting due to the investment in yarn and time, not sure a mystery would be for me. Loved the Caitlin Hunter sweater, it looked fab on you (even if back to front 🙂) I may have to add that to my list! Too many lovely patterns and not enough time.
Regarding knitalongs: I will definitely never do an MKAL. It's such an investment of time and money, like you I want to know what I'm in for. Actually I'm afraid I'm not much of a knitalong person at all really. I'm quite intrinsically motivated and having an external schedule etc stresses me out a bit, which is not what I'm looking for in my knitting :) Although I do like "observing" a knitalong - I definitely wouldn't mind getting a nice kit and pattern and working on that when I feel like it while you also talk about it on the channel! What I think would be very nice, and I would actually like as a mystery, is a swatch-knitalong, where we would for example knit a hat in a curated yarn and if you like that you could also do a sweater, like Siorr and Yomp by Kate Davies. (There, I've invented a new club for you ;) )
Good to see you again Jane. I'm not a fan of mystery knit-alongs - I do want to know that the project I am working on is something I have chosen to knit.
Hi Jane lovely to see you again. I love your colour choices for your planned vest,. Starting to warm up here in NZ with a few spring storms of late. I'm off to watch the All Blacks play Australia at the Spark Arena in Wellington this weekend, it's sold out and should be amazing. Go the ABs! We are starting to plan a long trip to the UK/Europe in a couple of years when my husband retires and Cornwall is on the list, would love to come and say hi, maybe incorporate a retreat if you're still offering them. Rather exciting! Enjoy your autumn knitting x
Wow. Do look us up when you are coming over and I will definitely still be doing retreats! I love a bit of live sport to watch. Bit of a grudge match I imagine between two old foe! It will be amazing to watch I am sure. My husband is a very keen rugby fan so watches all the time. Enjoy 🥰
I hear you about the empty nest. You miss their energy and the daily conversations. The good morning and how was your day when they come home. It really hits hard and the house is so quiet. I’m from Canberra in Australia and love watching you and seeing all your knits. I knit a lot and also crochet. I’m an Avid sock knitter but also knit lace and colourwork. We have 4 seasons in Canberra and range from minus 7 in winter to 40 degrees Celsius in the summer.
Thank you. I can’t accept any praise for it apart from choosing the yarn and colours though. Bronwyn was a star and knitted it but I think I might make another version as this one is in the shop at the moment 🤔🥰
I look forward to your videos. Although I live in Ireland I am originally from England and my parents retired to Illogan. Cornwall is in my blood and spirit. I love watching your WIPs. You are truly inspiring, thank you 💕
Nice to visit with you, from Canada. Glad I am not the only one who puts on a top front-to-back! I am on a easy-knitting kick in knitting a generic version of the "Sophie scarf" that was a u-tube craze. This has a crochet picot edging. These make nice gifts for friends and brings me joy. I have also been crocheting a vest from a kit but I misread the repeat pattern. So, both the front pieces and the two back pieces are different so I am pondering whether to correct it or just leave as is and start a new trend. I wonder if anyone will notice it when I wear it. I have never knitted a Stephen West pattern - too complicated for me! I prefer to see the pattern before I start. I have never knitted socks but intend to do so one day. I enjoy watching U-tube channels such as yours and do follow a few in the U.K. I always enjoy your lovely travelogue at the end. My husband and I loved Cornwall. Happy Fall, cheers.
Lovely to see your finished items and wips. I’m going to Ally Pally and very excited, so I’ll come and say hello. I bought one of your children’s learn to knit kits to teach one of my granddaughters and I’m saving that for winter. I prefer to know what I’m making in case I don’t like the finished object! 😊
Hello Cornwall !! The sweater you are wearing is stunning, love, love the colors ! I’m just finishing the autumn bloom by Caitlin Hunter, I used the yarn specified in the pattern, very expensive but difficult to cake up! I had to keep cutting it! I’m doing the autumn bloom next with some Marie Wallin yarn from stash and the gorgeous spincycle ghost ranch for the colorwork. I’m totally impressed with your colorwork vest ! I have an all over Colorwork jumper (Kate Davies ) languishing in the closet, I don’t know if it will ever get done! I’m forcing myself to work on and finish one wip at a time, no more frivolous casting on because I’m determined to clear out the closet which has tons of bags, yarn , and wips! I simply can’t stand it!!😂😂 otherwise, mostly going well. I’m doing the Lento sweater next (as seen in Laine) simple cropped sweater with US size 10 needles, I’ve bought the La bien Aimee yarn directly from them which it calls for, it it comes out well, I might simply do a few of them with bulky wool, I crave tv knitting😢 sorry for waffling on as you say, love the podcast, !! Here in US there are many excellent crafters but the general public is quite aloof about the craft, you might show them a Colorwork project that took you two years. They always say @ that’s cute!” Anyway you are a mist talented knitter!!
Haha. This made me smile. I like a good waffle 😜 love your plans. I am usually only tempted by bits of colourwork so vests seem like the next level. Maybe an all over sweater is in my future but let’s see how the all over vest goes 😂 🥰
That’s exactly it. Who ever thought that parenting could still bring such a flood of emotions even when they are grown up and leading their own lives 🥰
How true about having your grown children briefly for a visit! My children are the same ages as yours, and I keep telling myself that I've done my job if they can succeed without me. I like the fact that uni aged young people are interested in crafting. When I was young, I was the only sewer (they call us "sewists" now) in my gang. When I went to sewing conventions, I was about 20 years younger than the other participants. It's healthy that they've discovered that knitting and needlework is a good coping mechanism. Plus, they end up with something tangible!
Thank you. So many are recognising the therapeutic benefits of crafting which is great. In fact a number told me that hadn’t bothered going out on ‘fresher’ events as they don’t drink and would rather knit or crochet. Good to hear ☺️
On the grown up kids matter - mine are both in their thirties, my nest hast been empty for quite a while now but i have always seen my job as the one to give them roots, then wings, confidence and a hunger for their own decisions. Some of those were scary and some downright foolish but over all they are good people and making their own ways in life. In their own pace. So, as it was my job to get them ready for life I am not sad at all they are moving on. It´s their job to go and live without mama. It was my job to get them ready for it. I have always felt that it was a massive priviledge to be allowed to see them grow, learn, fail, cope and succeed whilst always knowing that I was there should they need me. Now we are there for one another, having our own lives but always there should need be - which is absolutely marvellous. I know too many people of all ages who do not get along with their parents or children and in that respect i feel truly blessed. I hope this does not sound like bragging, because it is not. I am forever grateful for how things were and are. And no. The worries and sleepless nights and sometimes missing them to where it really hurts do not end. Ever. I asked my mum, she knows. My brother is 66 and it never ends. So, parents, brace yourselves... the ride goes on! Love, Su / Pinguinpullover
Thank you Su this is such a lovely way of expressing this. You have obviously done a great job and have a lovely relationship with them which is a reflection of that. We are a close family and always there for one another, albeit from far away some times, and it makes me sad when families fall out. I look at my parents (who I still have to text when I travel and arrive at 61!) and the pleasure they get from all their family calling, visiting and just caring and I wish more people could have that as they age. It’s a tough job being a parent but my it is a privilege too 🤗
Hi Jane. Another lovely episode. As far as MKAL’S they are not my thing right now. Too much else on the go and on my needles. I do love to follow along and see the new designs that he comes up with. Love your travel videos and seeing your part of England.
An enjoyable podcast Jane thank you , we’ve just spent an all too short trip to see our son in the States , it was so hard leaving, it was our last trip to America as my husband is not fit enough to do it again but I’m sure we’ll see them over here one day , we count ourselves so lucky that both our sons have become great people and friends, what more can one ask for , well more yarn maybe 😂
Haha yes we can always do with more yarn. That must be hard with your son living far away and health limiting your opportunities to see him. Hopefully he makes lots of visits home to see you and you can spoil him rotten 😂
I did Stephen's 2 years in a row and won't do it again. I guess I don't like the mystery aspect and I haven't really used either shawl I made. I appreciate how you feel about your kids. Mine are in the same age range and I really value the time with them.
Hi Jane. Yes you are so lucky to have your children nearby. My youngest son and his family lives in New Zealand. We live in Ontario Canada. Another lives in British Columbia and our daughter in Michigan USA. Love your lovely podcast. Cornwall my favourite county.
I am on my third Mystery Blanket by Debbie Abrahams and loving it! Knitting one for each of my sons as a kind of heirloom! The project runs over the course of 10 months, but I find it takes me a year to complete ❤
Hi Jane. I'm currently knitting a test knit brioche shawl ... my first time doing brioche. Definitely character building at the beginning but now quite enjoying the journey. I'm not a fan of MKALs. Like you I like to know I'm going to enjoy the finished product. Our weekly knit group do a twice a year KAL with a theme. We've done shawls, baby garments, hats, socks, & next we are doing a baby/child toy. My next knit for me will be a summer top & after that I'm keen to knit St Catherine's cardigan by Kate Davies. Happy knitting. Barbara Hawker (NZ)
Your group sounds like one I would like to be in. What a great idea to hold a KAL twice a year in the group! Good luck with brioche. It tests me too much and i hate ripping it back but I love the fabric. And I am a huge Kate Davies fan 🥰
I have friends that will be knitting the West MKAL pattern, but only after they know what the pattern looks like. They done one before that they didn’t like. Too much knitting and money to not like the finished object. More of us might join in. Five of us did his Glittering Snowscapes Boxing Day MKAL, a beautiful pattern. Some were done in handspun, some in bought yarn. Five very different shawls. Good luck at Ally Pally 😘
Thank you ☺️ I agree too much effort and cost for something I may not like. But I have friends who knit it anyway as they like learning his techniques. He is a great teacher. 👩🎓
I love an Mkal as often learn new techniques and love the process of choosing colours even though I am not confident with colours. Often I don’t care what I am making, it’s the process and being part of a group I enjoy
I think if you don’t mind what the final product is then they are great and can be a real place for friendship and developing skills. So glad they bring you pleasure 😊
Thank you for another lovely podcast. I have only done one MKAL which was a.Stephen West sock. I thought I would have a go as if I didn't like it (which I do but still not knitted the second sock!) it wouldn't be too much time and yarn used. I'm very lucky that my grown children still live very close, there's nothing better than getting my two boys together.
I agree a sock isn’t too much investment in terms of yarn and time so that might tempt me. Enjoy your family time I expect they love seeing mum. I would so love to have one of mine live nearer to me but I just have to make the most of when I can get to see them. 🥰
I agree with you Jane, and do not enjoy a "mystery" knit-a-long. This may be because I not an advanced knitter. I may enjoy them in the future but for now, I prefer to know what I am creating.
Hi Jane, wow you are a very busy girl with so much on your plate! How do you find the time to knit your own garments with everything else you do? I’m impressed! I’m a lot like you and don’t enjoy mystery knit along as I don’t want to spend money and time on something and then find I don’t like it ( I do that anyway without it being a mystery )😂 Yes empty nest syndrome is alive and well here too 😔 I miss my children being at home and it’s been hard adjusting to not having them around. I like you, appreciate the time I do have with them and now I have grand babies which is a real bonus and so much fun 🥰 plus I get to knit all those cute baby knits! Thanks for a lovely podcast x
Thank you for sharing your thoughts Sue. Being busy makes me choosier about taking part in MKALs I suppose 🤔 I don’t really knit for me anymore but heyho that’s the ting they say about starting a business out of your hobby. I like the process though so that gives me loads of pleasure 🥰
I can relate with your grown children. My 2 boys are too busy. The eldest hasn't visited in 12 years. Its always me going up to see them. We moved 450km away from our original family home. I like knitting garments. Not a lover of shawls or cowls and dont knit a lot of socks.
Thanks for sharing!! That must be tough for you. 🤗 I hope you have a good network of friends you can spend time with. Our children do fill their lives up don’t they but that seems to be what this generation do. I know trying to get a window into my two can be challenging. 😊
I participated in the shawlography MKAL. It was this community thing, very exciting with various new techniques. I love the result. But I unraveled The twists and turns shawl from 2022 because for me the single elements don’t belong really together. So my experiences are very different. Nevertheless Stephen is a great designer, motivator, teacher and an artist of color. What about a sock KAL or MKAL? My middle son will go to the German army in the beginning of October for the next 12 years. I am quite anxious about his decision in these times. But it’s his decision and his life. Thank you, Jane, for your new episode!
Thank you ☺️ yes he is in a class all of his own. Just his designs are not really for me but I love his teaching and personality. I will plan a KAL soon ☺️ it’s hard to let go and I still worry like mad about mine too. 🥰
Mystery KALs are not for me, especially if it's a large and complicated project. Lovely to see a new podcast from you. I'm watching this from Devon, on a four day break. The Cornish views are wonderful.
As always a lovely time spent with you. Great Easy V. Really like the Pressed Flowers little neckerchief. Thinking I’ll knit one to a bigger size. MKAL not for me. Love his patterns but need to know what so I can chose colours.
Hi Jane you will be pleased to hear that I have caught the knitted sock bug and I have now done 3 or 4 pairs, the only problem is I am struggling to get the hang of doing the heel flap and gusset more so the gusset so I leave out the heel.
Hello Jane ...I am going thru and watching all the videos while I knit. :) And perhaps you mention in a different episode, but what is the black and white hexagon blanket behind you? Thanks so much! (And I love the short excursion videos around Cornwall at the end of your episodes!)
Thank you. The blanket is a pattern by Toft (UK company) and is basically crocheted hexagons in 5 different shades all joined together. It is a simple crochet pattern and easy to do in the go. 🥰
I thought I''ll have a few years with my children when we renovated and extended our house two years ago. I have three children. Two older ones got married in the space of 11 months (big fat Indian destination weddings and all different ceremonies, we moved for renovations and back, my husband had a knee rplacement, my son who got married first had a baby and we dropped my youngest to University, not to mention both older ones buying their own houses!! yep im have major empty house syndrome.
Thank you for another interesting episode Jane. I’ve done the Stephen West MKAL a few times as I got pulled into the excitement and community. I eventually finished the 2020, Shawlography. I abandoned the 2022 Twists and Turns but still joined last years 🙄. Last year’s yarn has been repurposed and I’ve now learnt my lesson. I will watch his MKAL videos though as they are entertaining and informative. So MKALs are not for me and I’m not sure KALs are either.
I totally agree with that. I watch and enjoy both the entertainment and knowledge shared but don’t get sucked into making something I don’t think i will like 😊 Thank you 🥰
MKALs are not for me either, I started a couple but didn’t finish them and realised that I like to know what I’m knitting before I commit yarn to it. I had to look up the Cossandra Sweater to see if there was an adult version and there is, that’s another pattern added to my favourites 😊
I agree about a 'surprise kal' I like to know what I am going to make and that I will like it at the end. I enjoyed your sock and cowl kal's from earlier this year. I have the pattern and yarn ready to start a 'smookie' sweater. I am hoping to be in Falmouth early October. Will your shop be open while you are away?
P.s RE Knit alongs I've only ever participated in a small project which was a smaller scarf. I really enjoyed it, however I gifted it to my daughter as the style just didn't suit me, but I do think it's a good idea to practice your knitting skills.
Thanks for another lovely podcast Jane. Yes I can relate to being a mum of grown up kids. I'm enjoying every minute whilst mine are still at home. I must confess when they do fly the nest I'll miss them enormously but I am looking forward to not living with my son's mess/stuff/gear. They are great people so that out weighs everything.😁
Knitalongs: I knit a Mystery Mittens from Skeindeer having knit several of her patterns beforehand so I knew what to expect. Otherwise, mystery is not for me. Knitalongs however are lots of fun because subscribers have a common point to chat about and offer each other support. Prizes or not, the main thing is participation.
Hello! When you mentioned the “roosty tank top”,it made me think of the one Dan Jones made for his wife, Kay, on Bakery Bears. I think they found some mistakes in the pattern. Maybe that has been corrected? I always enjoy seeing the filming of your adventures! I like KALs but I do not care for “mystery “.
Thank you. 🤩 oh I didn’t know that I will report back on it. I have only just bought it so hopefully the mistakes have been changed. Lots of trips planned for the autumn 🍂
I'm not a fan of MKAL's. I don't like mysteries or surprises even in knitting. I like the idea of KAL's, but am not a faithful participant. You've made some lovely knits, Jane. The retreats sound like a good time.
Thank you. It seems we are not alone in not liking MKALs Katherine. KALs for me should motivate and be a shared experience where everyone works at their own pace but over a common project. I never finish when I am meant to either 😜
Hello Jane, Anne here. Thank you for showing my “Maple Leaf Forever” leaves. The stiffener is white craft glue and water in equal quantities.
Thank you Anne. 🥰 I had a mental blank about them once I started speaking but I wanted to show them as they are stunning 🤩
Your maple leaves are beautiful!
Beautiful!
Hi Jane, so recognizable your talking about having your adult children home for a while, enyoiing it so much and the feeling of melancholy when they are leaving. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching 🥰
Jane, you´re the best 💖. I love your pod, always much appreciated!
Thank you so much! ☺️
Hi Jane,
Some lovely projects on show today ❤
I know what you're feeling about kids leaving home.
Have a lovely week Jane, and I certainly appreciate all of the content makers on YT ❤
P.s..I've pre ordered my Laine
Thank you for sharing your story. How lovely to have some grandchildren nearby, especially if you can share your knowledge and craft with them. 🥰
Thank you.
Thanks so much 😊 the version I knitted took 2 x 50g of DK yarn. Do give it a go 🤔
Thank you for posting about St Mawes, my husband's uncle used to be headmaster there years ago. We miss Cornwall even though we haven't lived there for over 20 years. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
‘Really enjoyed the podcast, Jane - thank you. Loving the pattern/yarn recommendations on here and for the Flock. 🧶
Glad you enjoyed it! 🥰
Thank you for the free pressed flower pattern. I’ve been meaning to stick my toes into the pressed flower and this will be a great way to start
You are welcome. 🤗
That’s a perfect reason to do one 🥰
I have just discovered your channel. I came into your shop on holiday last October and bought some lovely wool. Great to see your knits ❤
Oh thank you! And welcome 🤗
I am all for building the knitting community. We get so much out of sharing our passion for yarn don’t we 🥰
Hello Jane, thank you for another lovely episode, and the footage of your trip.
Definitely. I read an article today that talked about the benefits of having multiple projects in the go to suit your mood and circumstances. ☺️
Beautiful scenery! My three kids are all adults but one is still at home (she’s 18). The other two are relatively close by and for that I’m thankful.
Thank you. ☺️
Thank you. Ok have not knitted one of his designs but I know many who have a learn so much. 🥰
I absolutely love your hexie blanket that was in the background.
Thank you it’s my own cobbled together blanket of crocheted hexies. I used 5 blending colours of DK ☺️
@@thecornishknitter it’s the colours that I particularly admire. 👏
Thank you. I agree he is such a big personality he is probably the only one I think can really carry it off 🥰
Loved watching this episode, after visiting Cornwall this summer and your beautiful shop in Fallmouth, I subscribed straightaway ❤
Awesome, thank you! ☺️
Definitely not enough time for all the makes I would like to do. 🥰
That beginner scarflet is so cute! Very modern.
(There, I've invented a new club for you ;) )
I love it! 😍
Good to see you again Jane. I'm not a fan of mystery knit-alongs - I do want to know that the project I am working on is something I have chosen to knit.
Me too ☺️
Hi Jane lovely to see you again.
Enjoy 🥰
@@thecornishknitter it was an awesome game!
I have been looking for a simple pattern for my daughter, the little scarf looks great, will look out for it!
@@sharonmorris924 and it’s a free one too ☺️
I hear you about the empty nest.
Yes thats exactly what you miss. It was just lovely to have a moment in time when that came back 🤗 Wow you really do have a spectrum of weather!
Hi Jane. Love your easy v. That's what I'm knitting right now. Gorgeous pattern. Fab podcast again 😊
Thank you. I can’t accept any praise for it apart from choosing the yarn and colours though. Bronwyn was a star and knitted it but I think I might make another version as this one is in the shop at the moment 🤔🥰
@@thecornishknitter go for it Jane. It's a lovely pattern to knit and it looks great on you.
I look forward to your videos. Although I live in Ireland I am originally from England and my parents retired to Illogan. Cornwall is in my blood and spirit. I love watching your WIPs. You are truly inspiring, thank you 💕
Thank you ☺️
Nice to visit with you, from Canada.
Thank you and yes, definitely start a new trend 😜Do give socks a go they are a small and portable project and make great gifts too. 🥰
me too 😊Oh do come and say hi. We are on stand TGB32 🥰
doing the Lento sweater next (as seen in Laine) simple cropped sweater with US size 10 needles, I’ve bought the La bien Aimee yarn directly from them which it calls for, it it comes out well, I might simply do a few of them with bulky wool, I crave tv knitting😢 sorry for waffling on as you say, love the podcast, !!
Children leaving home 😢. Sadness and pride mixed together that only a mother can experience. Thank you Jane for reminding me ❤
That’s exactly it.
Love,
Su / Pinguinpullover
Thank you for watching 🥰
An enjoyable podcast Jane thank you , we’ve just spent an all too short trip to see our son in the States , it was so hard leaving, it was our last trip to America as my husband is not fit enough to do it again but I’m sure we’ll see them over here one day , we count ourselves so lucky that both our sons have become great people and friends, what more can one ask for , well more yarn maybe 😂
Haha yes we can always do with more yarn. That must be hard with your son living far away and health limiting your opportunities to see him. Hopefully he makes lots of visits home to see you and you can spoil him rotten 😂
Thankyou Jane for a beautiful podcast 🧶
Thank you ☺️
Love to see your travels around Cornwall! I’m not particularly fond of knit alongs either as I do generally like to know the pattern! Thank you!
Yay, thank you! ☺️
I did Stephen's 2 years in a row and won't do it again. I guess I don't like the mystery aspect and I haven't really used either shawl I made. I appreciate how you feel about your kids. Mine are in the same age range and I really value the time with them.
Thank you. I feel that shawls can be really personal too. We all lien different shapes, designs, and sizes 🥰
Hi Jane. Yes you are so lucky to have your children nearby. My youngest son and his family lives in New Zealand. We live in Ontario Canada. Another lives in British Columbia and our daughter in Michigan USA. Love your lovely podcast. Cornwall my favourite county.
Thanks for sharing!! That is a long way away and so dispersed too. I expect its extra special when you get to see them 🥰
I am on my third Mystery Blanket by Debbie Abrahams and loving it! Knitting one for each of my sons as a kind of heirloom! The project runs over the course of 10 months, but I find it takes me a year to complete ❤
Wonderful! She is a lovely designer and I think blankets are a safer option. So glad you enjoy it and i am sure they are lovely gifts 🥰
@@thecornishknitter he is. I’ve watched many of his videos because I’m a visual learner.
Thank you. So many of us don’t like them and knitting is about pleasure and putting us at ease so enjoy everything you make 🥰
Hi Jane, wow you are a very busy girl with so much on your plate! How do you find the time to knit your own garments with everything else you do? I’m impressed!
I’m a lot like you and don’t enjoy mystery knit along as I don’t want to spend money and time on something and then find I don’t like it ( I do that anyway without it being a mystery )😂
Yes empty nest syndrome is alive and well here too 😔 I miss my children being at home and it’s been hard adjusting to not having them around.
Forgot to add, not into Mystery KALS. I would get anxious if I had a deadline to meet.
Wonderful! I hope you have plenty of knitting with you (and remember it’s jam first 😜)
As always a lovely time spent with you. Great Easy V. Really like the Pressed Flowers little neckerchief. Thinking I’ll knit one to a bigger size. MKAL not for me. Love his patterns but need to know what so I can chose colours.
Thank you. Yes the Pressed Flower kerchief would make a great shawl so do give it a go and the pattern is free! 😊
Hi Jane you will be pleased to hear that I have caught the knitted sock bug and I have now done 3 or 4 pairs, the only problem is I am struggling to get the hang of doing the heel flap and gusset more so the gusset so I leave out the heel.
Yay. How do you do the heel then? Have you looked at an afterthought heel or shadow wrap? They might suit you more ☺️
@@thecornishknitter At the moment I'm not putting a heel in.
Oh I feel for you. That’s a big change in a short time. I hope you have a lot of good friends who you can talk to. 🤗
Yes I saw that too! My list is growing 😂
We will plan another one soon but no surprises I promise. Yes we will be open as normal Tues-Sat 1030-4. ☺️
Jane I usually end up smelling the sweatshirts and other laundry which are usually a small token that Lauren has been there !
Ah me too 🥰
P.s RE Knit alongs
I've only ever participated in a small project which was a smaller scarf. I really enjoyed it, however I gifted it to my daughter as the style just didn't suit me, but I do think it's a good idea to practice your knitting skills.
Yes they are great for extending your knowledge and maybe taking you out of your comfort zone, I expect your daughter was delighted 🥰
I qm going to the show for the first time I am very nervous about getting there on the underground
You will be fine. I have been as a participant before and the transport is good and good links from train stations to the venue. Do come and say hi 😊
Haha. Enjoy them whilst you can! Ironically both of mine are super tidy as adults 😂☺️
I agree. I just love the chat and camaraderie 🥰
