I wish there were event nodes in DD2 like the ones in slay the spire. Events that appear randomly per region but have fixed rewards. Like the vampire event or the sacrificial dagger event or the duplicate event. Academic studies are like that a bit but they just give random unnecessary stuff or just very weak or situational trinkets. I think this game needs to add rare powerful trinkets that change the run instead of the boss trinkets being the best thing.

The academic study is too inconsistent. I almost always skip it if I'm in the near end of my run or mid way.
@@reubenthawmte8504 think of it like this. You go to a node and chose a hero to infect with bloodlust. Or have a hero turn crystaline by the shard or offer trinkets that get stronger every battle. Or trinkets you have to unlock by doing certain tasks.
I feel like DD2 is playing it really safe with the things you get per run. There is no broken combo like the deadbranch curuption like in slay the spire. Something that you will get 1 in 10 runs if less that lets you break the game.
The SFX on En Garde has a 100% base chance to give player Chills
Also worth noting is that with full stagecoach armor everyone starts a fight with Block, so having that upgraded by Stone Mount is also very good.

@@theduhjit only works once you have the upgrade that makes the default 3 I’m pretty sure, also us being full wheels makes traveling healing 50% more powerful if you didn’t know that too.
@@chainsawboy2388 i did know about the wheels. I used to just go for armor breaking nodes because I thought it was free, but apparently it's not
I find this boss significantly easier than the others so I tend to target it frequently during my runs.

I just got into dd2 so I'm really glad you're still making fresh content for it. I currently suck, and can't get past chapter 3. Haven't even gotten to the obsession boss yet. Imma keep pushing though!

Chapter 3 is definitely the hardest, a lot more than the final even if you have 4 memories on each hero...
The only thing the region guide is probably missing is lair boss trophies. A brief overview of those might be helpful for guide-watching players in making a decision of which lair boss to go for.
I think they deserve their own quick guide.

i think combat nodes should give guaranteed mastery points. sometimes it feels really bad to get only 2 mastery points in a region just because of bad RNG
So I didn't know the roots could be returned if you hit the thing in the back... And this was just a damage race. Always ate one nightmare every time. First time, it wiped me. Second time fowards, I always took a raw damage party and got it killed in no time.
It was the same with me, this video autoplayed for me and that's how I found out you should hit the vines:) I also beat the general on the second try, with bunch of blight while everyone was being strangled lol.
not sure if it was pointed out, but The Soil Stirs and Creeping Growth do follow Taunt mechanics (that is, if you have a taunt token before the action occurs, your Taunting hero will be one of the two targeted). it's somewhat difficult to use, but it also means that a constantly taunting MaA or other similar tanks can soak up damage very consistently.

Having 2 units that do AOE to back line like Flagellant and Plague Doctor then you win that fight super easy. Just top up your health while doing DoT
The Tangle is my favorite region. I pretty much always hit it, especially if I have a MAA that I can kit with the incredible tanking trinkets.
Footman's Grog carried me on my Act 5 run.
Cardinal's Exultation & Strange Axis kept my party buffed every cultist fight 👍.
For the Armoury key you can get really lucky and get the bonesaw from Churgeon, then it's easy to get both buffs
Just picked up DD2 thanks to the Switch release and was so genuinely confused about wtf the mechanic was with the general 🤦♀️. when I tell you I IMMEDIATELY ran to your channel for answers in a panic 😂
Never thought that one of the top tips for beating a boss would be “Oil up the root”
The next area you cover has to be the Shroud.
I've been saying it since launch, but there is definitely an area imbalance with the Tangle and Shroud being literal hell (from enemies, to bosses, to rewards, to your GPU when it comes to the Tangle LOL) compared to the Sprawl and Foetor which, not only have some of the best trophies and trinkets in the game imo, but are also mostly chill areas where things usually don't go wrong unless you make a stupid mistake or get really unlucky.
Covering the two hardest areas (which also unsurprisingly host the two hardest lair bosses) would be highly appreciated.

a full blight team makes the general so free lol. just spam acid rain and plague grenade to hit both targets, and graverobber can poison dart the root if PD or flagellant need to heal. i usually take highwayman to tracking shot the general before using sepsis so PD can still use cause of death on the next turn (completely overkill but very funny). u can also tracking shot the root if both PD and flagellant need to do something else. i just got to ambition the other day and because i had yellowhand highwayman *both* bosses were a breeze

The dreaming general has been slapping my shit every time even when half of my team has back line damage to manage the vines. They just never leave on the characters that I need them to leave alone.
Feet soldiers are so pushed, they have death armor, hit for decent damage and have block.

Can more than one of the Clenching Claws effect trigger at once? Similar to 50/50 chances in the first game sometimes both happening or not at all? Like weakening and stunning simultaneously?

Came to see what i've been doing wrong. Killing this boss but losing half of the party.
Turns out i was doing everything right. It's just boss is a complete BS. With forcing 2 of your party members to spend turns on hitting root (if you dont have some combat items, which you dont have many on first playthroughs), then having to heal 2 of your teammates getting hit by walking dead, then having to kill the boss.
So if you dont have combat items - it is really hard to do

My favorite region
I'm still pretty new to the game and was doing a run yesterday with full DOT run to see if I could finally beat Act 2 boss (I suck at the game lol) Alchemist PD for Blight and heal, Virtuoso (fuck the bleed path, Virtuoso best path for anything) Jester for Bleed and Stress heal, Arsonist Runaway for Burn and Cauterize, and Scourge Flagellant for tanking, the massive heals and ally DOT removals. Run was going extremelly well and while I wasn't planning on facing any specific lair I ended up in the Tangle as region 3 and I was upset yet kinda laughing how I fcked up the root management and my party was wiped out... EXCEPT for the flagellant, mf refused to die and wanted to solo the boss and once the Toxic started to ramp up it was over for the General. Still soloed the rest of the region unil the Obliviong thingy they started to stack bleed and a lucky crit took me out, honestly my favorite tank, but have to experiment with its moveset, if I read the skills thouroughly and realized Acid Rain can hit the root maybe my party wouldn't have died
Does dreaming general tap root behave differently with 2 stacks vs 3 stacks of rooted? Like does 3 stacks create a stronger version of waking dead?
I think 2 sets the target and 3 activates it. Doesn't boost damage or anythibg

I have a few. Check the dd2 1.0 playlist and look for a thumbnail with a rabbit in it

I legit didn't know you could attack the taproot. I usually got nightmare once every fight and went into it accepting I'd have to deal with at least 1 meltdown
I only do tangle if I'm playing act 4, to prevent knowback from the mountain boss
Probably my fav region, exept for the Dreaming General boss which has no replay value, but that's a problem many other bosses have.

Technically, wouldn't it be better to let general get 2 stacks on your slow characters while keeping your fast ones at 1? For example MAA and Leper are never going before PD, I don't think there's any daze/stun in this fight. So PD can just let them simmer until one of them gets strangled, then clear it all the way with plague grenade while keeping a combat item in case she needs to clear a 2stack from a character that might go before her.

I'm kinda annoyed you didnt show the nightmare attack. There aren't any video on it. Would love to see the attack.
It's just waking dead but hits all four heroes. It isn't common as it is one of the skills players tend to actively avoid/ignore.
Going into Tangle first is great move because if you beat general, you have fifty/fifty chance that you get one of the best trophies in the game that can hard counter Leviathan, Harvest Child and certain cultist enemies. Plus it makes drawbacks of certain heroes with their dance moves not a problem anymore (Jester)
Immobilize doesn't prevent Undertow AFAIK
@@br0ck689 It does, your first hero only needs to have hight movement resist, as undertow checks for movement resist and if it fails, it will go to the front and if first hero gets failed check, they get taken, but 2nd hero will ALWAYS resist it because he cant move.
I really hate the Sleeping General. That Waking Dead Crit Bleed has killed quite a few of my characters.
I hate that i feel like almost Any time i fight and beat a lair boss, i feel so beaten down and weak after that i just lose anyway. A shame i Need a trophy to actually get to the mountain. I hate this game. I hate that i want to like it.

i just did a run of this, and every time i damaged the root, it receded from a hero that it didn't need to recede from :)
Boss is easily beatable with 1 character that attacks both the stem and general such as pd plague grenade or occultist spaghetti attack
