You can hear the beginning of Wayne's voice starting to go in this video, yet this is still 5 years before the Stardust signed him to a 10 year 25 million a year contract, so he was still filling big show rooms. I've seen him as recently as 2016 and he's gone back to a lounge act with hardly any voice, but he's still Wayne Newton and for that 90 minutes you forget about the voice and just see The Midnight Idol himself. Not to mention he's a super nice guy.

He sang this song , He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother. On the Mike Douglas show in the 1970s and it was terrific.

And you are too much of a fan. Reality is that his voice is totally shot. Even his speaking voice is going. So get your head out of the sand!

there was an unbelievable performance of wayne doing he ain't heavy from when he was on The Merv Griffin Show one night. The best he ever did this song, unfortunately the video was taken down.

It sounds like recent video I've seen he still will get up on those high notes but not really hold them as he did in this video from 1994. It sounds to me like he's holding that high A & even high B or several counts like two measures on the musical scale but back in 1994 he was only 52 years old!. He has to have some voice left over or he wouldn't do it at all

Vegas is hard on the throat, not to mention the over 20k performances he'd probably already sang by this point in his career.

This is about the time that Wayne turned into a middle aged Polynesian woman with damaged vocal chords. I miss the tragedy that was the MDA Telethon.

Imagine and all that and still 4 years to go before he signs a contract for the highest paid residency in Las Vegas...

awwww...this is hurting my ears... and his toupee is awful. I admire his career and all he's done for Vegas and charities. At least this was before his plastic surgery that went very wrong. Too bad he just couldn't age naturally.
