Thank you for the explanation! Just bought the the Godox MF12 as my first flash, had no idea what I was doing and how to set it up until I found this video. :)
If I can add one extra tip.....On the X Pro trigger, press the " Menu " button and scroll to the DIST ( Distance ) setting and make sure " 0 - 30 m " is selected. This will give you greater close range reliability than the 1 - 100 m setting. 😉
Where was this when I setup mine? Thanks for helping others in the community I hope it saves them some of the frustration of having to try and decipher the instructions that came with and the lack of the ones needed.
PERFECT!!! I just received the pro ii and the mf12s arrive tomorrow. This video is ideal for me thank you. One thing I discovered is that the lens cap no longer fits due to the ring attachment - so if you are out and about your lens is exposed to twigs and dust etc when not in use. Is there a solution to this?
Hi Allan! Thank you so much for your tutorial! It’s very helpful! My question is, if I want to use 2 and more mf12 flash, how should I set up them? Do I set up them in same group? Thank you in advance! ❤
Dear Sir, I am Chinmoy Biswas from India. I just want ot know-- Which Trigger is the best suitable for Godox MF12 Two lite kit Flash for Macro. Thank you.
The shape of the diffuser is less important than the amount of diffusion and the direction of the light, but in my opinion more light sources will always give you more options. I am using 6-8 lights in most shots, just because I like the effect of a huge soft light source more than I do a single bright point source like you get from one flash on a higher setting. But even bad diffusion is better than none.
Thank you for that clear introduction. I've ordered a set of two mini flashes plus remote. Do I have to put both in the same group and, if so, can I set one up for, say, 1/8 power and the other for 1/32?
@@AllanWallsPhotography Thank you very much for the speedy answer. That's lovely; I can have separate groups (up to 5) and they'll all fire at once if on the same channel. Perfect! I'm glad you didn't insist that we eat the silica gel in this video.
Yes sir - they are perfect for water drop and plenty strong enough - they also have a very short duration, down to 1/30,000 sec, for extremely sharp images of moving fluids.
@@AllanWallsPhotography That was my thought....as easy as it is to position them they seem ideal. I have all the parts just have to find the time to try. Thank you
Getting ready to buy this setup from B&H. Question: What material do you use to diffuse the flash and do a video on how you make the diffuser. Thanks in advance.
One more tip on Godox trigger units. Do NOT use rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries, they are 1.2V and give problems with trigger talking to flash unit. Lithium batteries are 1.5 V and Lithium Ion are 1.2V and make for unreliable function.
Allan, I have been reviewing youtube videos on Godox lights and triggers, there is ONE more way to 'stuff up', that is, put the controller X1/X2, etc into HSS/speed mode, if you do, and the flash is NOT in this mode, or probably thisalso applies to this macro flash as well; it will NOT fire this flash (akin to putting the flash on a different group or channel).
Hi Allan, I very like your videos. However, for me they have one major drawback. That is the background music at the beginning of all your videos. By tinnitus, it is very hard for me to cleary understanding your voice with background music. So, do me a pleasure, turn of your background music somewhat earlier :-) Kind regards, TWvU :-)
Thanks and I am sorry about your having to deal with tinnitus - I know how irritating that is for you. Unfortunately, I receive a lot of positive feedback about how music is integrated into my videos and I am reluctant to stray too far from something that is mostly working. But what I can do and have already been working on is adding captions. I usually play music for 1-2 minutes at the beginning and about 1 minute at the end of each video, would it be helpful if you could lower the volume for those bits of the video if captions were displayed? I appreciate your willingness to contact me and I will do my best to find a way to keep you as a viewer! All the best, Allan
@@AllanWallsPhotography Hi Allan, Thank you for your understanding. I understand your reasons for continuing the intro and ending of your videos with music. So I'm very happy about your suggestion for captioning the parts of the videos with music. It would be very helpful to me, and maybe also to some others. I hope you continue your blog for a long time to come. You have given me a lot of creative ideas for doing macro photography. Thanks ! Kind regards. T.W.van Urk

The clearest explanation on how to set up a flash with trigger that I have seen!! Thank you so much!
Thanks! You are welcome!
Great again!! And, nice you did the announcement about the next video for DIY MF12-diffusion ..... :)
Allan, again another very helpful video. Phenomenal content, always eagerly awaiting the next. Cheers
Thanks Allan, was struggling with the included instructions but this video had me set up in no time.👍
Hi Allan - Many thanks for taking the time to do this. Added another one yesterday, much easier.Family of 4 now! :)
I can't thank you enough for this helpful video. I just couldn't figure out how to make those two communicate. So again, THANK YOU!

Brilliant point! Forgot that one entirely. Thanks!
Thanks so much for this video!! Very helpful for a first timer.
Hi Alan , I use a Canon 6D and what Wireless transmitters can i use on the Godox MF12 Flash units thanks

would you please make a video about making a diffuser for these?

Please if I have 2 flash, need to set up one group or 2 group ? I mean one can be A et the second can be B or how ???
Hi Alan, I am struggling to remove the flash ring from my macro lens . Can anyone help?
HELO، I recently bought it , but I have a Phottix Odin wireless trigger and I could not pair it with the godox MF12 ? is it incompatible ?
Thank you for doing that I was struggling a little myself but that explained it so thank you 🙏
Thanks a million, your video helped me to set up my MF12.
question. why do you need to set you zoom on these? you say yours are all set to 24mm but for what reason? thanks

Hey Allan, can you use High-speed Sync with the MF12?
That was a great video! Many thanks

Ultimately what is better a single flaw with a concave diffuser or twin flash with a concave diffuser

They can each be controlled independently at any power, by placing in different group.

thanks for the video, got sorted nice n quick..
Pls can the godox xpro n work with godox do300 strobe light
Though I have no personal experience with this combination, I believe they work together.
This has to be the only advantage of the Nikon R1C1 over the Godox.
The Group and channel controls on the Nikon are just two simple switches.
Have to agree with you there. Give me a dedicated button any day.
Thanks a lot for this Sir 👍
Thanks, It helped alot 🙏🏻 شكرا لكم

For real?! Reverse video is oediv - that's what we shall call it!
