As a child in the 60's, I found the one cent pennies interesting and would save them every time I found one. I had quite a few of them, and for some strange reason, I mixed them in a container with regular pennies and gave them away. Later I learned that a penny of a certain year was worth a bit of money, and I just knew that I had it.

These coins were unfindable in circulation forever. As a former coin collector who looked through endless rolls of coins 30 years ago. None of these coins could be found and had to be bought to fill out your collection. Anything valuable and old has been taken out of circulation many years ago as coin collecting has always had many followers.

It's interesting to see these because many people brush off wheat pennies as if they're nothing. I went to a coin shop near me and the guy said "well these you can go ahead and spend".... I literally had wheat penny's encased in a collection set. I usually go through my pennies a few times a year to find the wheaties. Sometimes I'll even find pennies on the ground and check if they're wheat. I just find them all fascinating.

It was once tempting to take a 1944-D penny, a comparatively common date, and file down the first 4 and pass it off as a 1914-D penny. But a dealer knows better- the altered penny will have a VDB under Lincoln's shoulder, which was not started until 1918.

Hey couch collectibles I have a seriously interesting error on a 1983 D quarter. I’ll include a pic if I can but a quick description is on the tails side of the quarter, the last A in America. The A is filled in; like it looks like a pyramid or the Eiffel Tower, due to not having the tiny triangle notch in the center that makes the A itself stand out as it’s letter. Also every other A on the coin has the expected tiny notch that makes a triangle the letter A. Trippyyyy

If I could back in time, I'd go to Denver and get some 1914-D cents and 1916-D Mercury dimes. Most coins with an 'S' mint mark from San Francisco were worth more, wish I could go back and get a roll of 1909-S VDB pennies. Other coins from the Colonial and Civil War days are worth a lot. Coin collecting is for the wealthy only now.

I found a 2015 with a triangular silver colored slash under and left of the 2. Is this an error or just a gouge?

Back in 1955, a friend worked at the A&P Store in Palmer, Mass and acquired 3 uncirculated rolls of the double die penny. Unfortunatelly, they were returned to the bank. He thought the customers would not accept them in change.

FACT IS: These coins were inserted into packs of cigarettes. So, for someone's tail of returning 3 BU rolls to the bank didn't happen. 😂

@@Stevesvoice Sorry, but it did. As a result, this guy started to collect coins and was not able to acquire one later on..

I picked up a 1914-D Penny from a wheat Roll. But Lincoln’s Bose is missing. Most likely in poor condition thought it was in Good.

Honestly the majority of those pennys after grading fees and auction fees the sellers lost money
Its worth noting that i stopped collecting coins when i tried to sell a rare penny and the buyer tried to rip me off by saying well i can get the same penny a year later for 5 cent that was the exact moment i decided to sell my entire collection and just put my money in the bank been putting my money in the bank most every paycheck since 1999 and am proud to say that the interest collected is worth far more than the resell value of most coin collections not trying to say collecting coins cant be profitable way to add a little extra income to your retirement but i will say collecting common coins is not the way

Hi Justin, i recently found an wheat penny i found quite interesting and was wondering if you knew anything about it. It's the reverse of a wheat penny but the obverse side of the penny is totally non existent, it looks like it was maybe a secret compartment for a microchip or something. I remember hearing about these "spy coins" when i was younger but idk much about them rn, any info would be greatly appreciated. It won't let me post the pics for some reason
