I could go on and on forever about how good these fake spoilers are but I’m not gonna do that because no one would have time to read it.
For extra sadness, compare the foreshadowing of the first time Hunter physically held Flapjack in his hands at the end of S2E6, and compare that with to the last time he held Flapjack in "his" hand here.
The thing that caught me most off guard was Luz's classroom tirade. It left me feeling, "Jesus, this girl needs help, that's suicidal talk right there." There's such a difference in her eyes; in the early episodes they looked so bright and cheery, like she couldn't wait to go out and conquer the world. Now she looks so tired, like if she didn't have important goals to accomplish, she might just lie in bed all day. Depression hits hard. Also, Hunter just bawling his eyes out because he's considered part of the family. 🥺
Luz and Hunter both express suicidal ideation in this series (Hunter is literally digging his own grave in S2E9 cause he failed a mission) and I’m honestly shocked Disney censors let them get that dark.
My head canon is that Camilla and Manny met at a Con... "Something's wrong" give Gus a break, *we're* seeing a closeup of Hunter/Belos, Gus is seeing him from about thirty, fourty meters away...at night...with no lights.

Well that happened to me too when I watched it. Was so "OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH!" about the nail colors I didn't even see the plaque until I watched that part for a second time.
Some cool stuff: when Gus makes Belos relive his trauma, he seems to be able to see Hunter's creation, and learns that he's a Grimwalker. Gus pointing out that one of the characters in Cosmic Frontier was a clone to Hunter wasn't an accident, and he wants Hunter to feel like he belongs. This is shown even more later when Gus says that he thinks the character that he later cosplays as "already knows" that Hunter's favourite character is a clone.
I just know this is going to be the only thing keeping me sane until For the Future 13 hours after this starts. Such an intense, heartbreaking episode this was.
Camilla really just is what every parent should strive to be. Also, the really gruesome thing about Belos possessing Hunter is that when he possessed those animals before, he dissolved them alive until they were nothing but bones and he had to move to a different host,- and that's what he did to Hunter as well! Really hope Hunter and Luz have the happiest of endings, 'cause these kids really deserve it.

To be fair, I doubt Hades can be a copyright name. It's the name of a Greek mythology god, which is very much public domain. I do not believe such things are copyrightable. It's like if you call the game Jesus. Good luck making that name your personal property.
In "Hunting Palisman" when Flapjack told the Bat Queen that they found someone, the Bat Queen replied "...after all this time." I didn't pick up on that until this episode. Flapjack had been waiting for centuries to make a connection! 😢 I can't even imagine what the poor little guy went through! I mean think about it, Flap was Evelyn's Palisman, so the love she had for Caleb, Flapjack knew firsthand.
The 2nd episode of season 3 will be airing on the official Disney Channel TH-cam channel on the 21st at 10 PM. From what I've heard, the ratings of the 1st episode of season 3 on YT were enough to make Disney sit up and notice them, so please spread the word that one of the best ways we can show Disney we want more of this show is to make episode 2's ratings even better!
I will rate it high if it impresses me 😌😌 I'm a very picky person to impress tho 🤣 I love Bleach and I'd still only rate it a 6.5 - 7 out of 10 🤣 Arcane, FMA:Brotherhood and Avatar the last airbender are the only shows I've ever given a 10/10 rating for.
@@WeeLassReacts I'm an OG Avatar fan, and it's still a phenomenal show. Have you seen Legend of Korra? I also think it's outstanding, and I'd recommend She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) if you're looking for other shows to react to. It's beautiful, emotional, nuanced, and also very gay.
@Jeremy the Gent Legend of Korra isn't bad. But you can tell it suffers from being an inital one-off that became popular enough for the network to demand more. It had a lot of good ideas but bad execution (though I blame the network for not giving the showrunners enough time). I still like it but definitely a shadow of its predecessor in quality.

Camila is such a good mom, taking in five kids from another world, supporting her daughter, both in terms of her interests, and her sexuality despite what everyone around her says, and even saving a possessed Hunter from drowning. And now she's going to the demon realm with Luz to help and protect her. I'm happy to say, she's become one of my favorite characters.

The masks Luz and Hunter wear are the mascots for the Band-Aid company Boo Boo Buddies. You can see them on the box when Luz pulled it out of the medicine cabinet. They just have a similar appearance to King and Hooty.
Alot of people forget her bringing the snakes to school in the first episode. A snake biting the principal was the "last straw" that caused her mom to send her to camp.
I absolutely love Vee, she IS adorable. Like Luz's more well-adjusted little sister. I also love that Camila seems to have full-on adopted her as a daughter. Camila really is best mom. Also I love when Luz gets up to go sleep in her mom's room Amity and Willow's cots are a little away from Luz's bed, the next time we see Luz get up in the middle of the night, Amity and Willow's cots are much closer to Luz's bed. Little details. Also the line kid Luz says, " I think this was the worst week ever," and the animation on that moment break me every time I watch it. I want hug her.
In reference to the thing about accepting parents: I got really lucky with my coming out situation. I had been questioning my sexuality for months until I learned I was Bi. I kinda kept delaying my coming out for a while until I felt I was ready. Then one night, in May of 2021 while my sister was visiting, I came out to her, my mom and my dad. Not only were they totally chill, but my sister literally got up and hugged me while shouting "I knew it, I knew it!" I was happy but also a bit surprised that she said that of all things but yeah, that's how my coming out went. My family for the most part is pretty understanding and I already had a cousin who had come out as gay some time before that point. My parents don't really treat me any differently, except now my mom makes "your future spouse" jokes instead of "your future wife" jokes.

Yes Flapjack!! Poor Hunter, he was created just to suffer, not just in-universe by Belos but also by the writers. But, in the months since this episode first aired, I've really come around on the choice to kill off Flapjack. Not only was it extremely foreshadowed (to the point where it was a fandom meme that he was gonna die... we regretted it when it happened), but it was also kind of inevitable just from the way the narrative was constructed. Flapjack is a remnant of Evelyn and Caleb, people who died centuries ago but whose memory Belos is keeping alive in his undying hatred for them (and also by literally making clones of Caleb). It wouldn't be possible to move on and look to the future while he still exists. Also, by saving Hunter's life, Flapjack finally broke the cycle of Belos killing his brother over and over again. My hope is that Hunter will learn to carve palismen, making a new friend in the process that represents his own identity instead of the dark history hanging heavily over him. Also, carving palismen would be a really beautiful and poetic way for him to start healing the damage Belos did to the world... something everyone is going to play a part in, that responsibility shouldn't fall on any one person. As a side note, I love Vee, and I love that she's the only one in the group of kids who can act like a 'normal human' because she went to the summer camp.
I believe gus did already know hunter was a grimwalker of belos's brother. If you remember, gus saw all of belos's trauma when he used the glass magic amplifier thing on him in the season 2 finale

If you pay attention, the only witches in the show who have birds as their palisman are the Clawthorns and Hunter. And now we know Flapjack was the palisman of Caleb's witch lover.
I bloody love how Camila’s dream re-frames and establishes what was really going on between her and Luz. That they *both* grew up with ‘odd’ interests and imaginations in a way that didn’t ‘fit’ what was acceptable in school/society, and that Camila was pushed into sending Luz to the camp out of fear. We see the same in Amity being pressured by her parents, Willow’s well-meaning dads viewing the Abomination track as more useful, every single insidious element of the Emperor’s control over the Isles’ culture… The show’s powerful, fierce narrative that challenges how a status quo - in the ‘Human Realm’ and the Isles harms, often violently, those who don’t ‘fit in’ is one of the best things about it. I really hope that aspect continues to the end and Luz, Camila, and everyone gets a chance to live their lives as who they are.
Headcanon/theory thing: King would be able to use glyphs in the Human Realm, and that glyphs in general are the way that titans control their own magic - rather than commanding the magic around them as they with humans, demons, and witches, titans could use glyphs to channel their own power. Word-for-word, my reaction to this episode on a discord server I'm in was as follows: "Camila YES! Flapjack NO!" Camila in this episode was just... Incredible. I think I've heard that, while the crew always knew she was a good mom, they hadn't actually decided on how to depict that at first. And I think they knocked it out of the park. While I'm still sad that the show was shortened, there is a silver lining. Though I don't think it's ever been stated outright, the crew has implied multiple times that Season 3's overall plot only exists because the show was shortened. These three specials can be used to tell the sorts of stories they'd never have been able to tell otherwise, to really send the show off with a bang. I'm sad that the show didn't get the time it should have, but I'm glad for the stories we're getting that we wouldn't have otherwise. It's sort of... bittersweet. So, something about this episode: Luz is going into her sophomore year in high school, meaning she's most likely fifteen by this point. However, we know that she was fourteen during Season 1. Based on the fact that she would've returned home in early September, she probably turned fifteen at some point during Season 2 while she was stuck in the Demon Realm unable to contact her mother at all... ouch. Also, I sort of just wanted to talk about time in general, because this episode's dialogue is a little weird about how it describes the amount of time that the kids were stuck in the Human Realm. Amity says it's been "months" without specifying. Based on what clues we can see in the episodes, it's actually been slightly less than two months: the Day of Unity would have been in the first few days of September, and this episode would've taken place over the last few days of October. Also, this episodes presentation suggests that it takes place over the course of three days, but based on that the show takes place in 2022 it should be four days: starting Friday with Luz at school, and ending on Halloween the following Monday. Something I've seen people bring up is that glyphs didn't work in the Season 1 finale, even though there were two sources of Titan's Blood nearby: The portal key and King. With the key, I think it can be attributed to how little blood was in it in the first place, but with King that's not really the case. There's two main thoughts of why this could be: Either he's too young to have much magic, or his veins keep any of the magic in his blood from leaking out. I personally think that it's the latter, since it lines up with what we saw in Eclipse Lake with his father's veins reflecting any magic sent at them. This is the train of thought that led me to think that maybe King would be able to use glyphs in the Human Realm: he doesn't have a bile sac and so can't cast spells on his own, but has powerful magic because he's a titan - so, perhaps that's what glyphs are for in the first place. As far as I'm aware, this episode does not contain coded messages in the background. Most likely, the only hidden message is the first word of each episode, writing out a three-word sentence. Which, ah... I don't know if the title of the last episode has been announced officially or not, but I have heard what it is. Anyway... Code so far: "Thanks"
The reason glyphs didn't work in the Human Realm despite King being there is because the Titan's Veins reflect the magic inward, keeping it from escaping. And I suspect that the glass of the key was also made from Titan Vein.
@@jakeroo123 I also have a theory that Them's The Brakes, Kid and Hollow Mind took place the same day. The kids ended up in the Human Realm at the end of August.

With all the theories about Luz's palisman being a snake, I definitely could've seen it simply uncoiling rather than hatching, and the "egg" is it's staff form
I don’t think Flapjack was Evelyn’s palisman. Flapjack already had a bond with Hunter before they ever met. Flapjack sought him out, and Hunter never had to tell him his deepest wish. Flapjack was shown in the haunted hay ride as the magic Evelyn showed to Caleb. Eda learned palisman carving from her father, whose palisman looks like a yellow Flapjack, one of many hints that Evelyn is a Clawthorne ancestor, so it’s possible Evelyn was a palisman carver too. I think Flapjack was Caleb’s palisman, carved for him by Evelyn. That’s why he’s already pre-bonded to Hunter, and that’s why Belos seems to hate him. To Belos, Flapjack is the physical manifestation of the “corruption” he murdered Caleb over. Also, Hunter is a Grimwalker, his keratin is made of palistrom wood, so he’s literally part palisman himself. It’s probably why Flapjack was able to save him in the first place.
Gotta love how much character development we for Camila in this episode not only do we see just how far she's willing to go for Luz's friends and girlfriend but we also get her perspective on a lot of previous events of Luz's life including the fact that she was emotionally manipulated to send Luz to camp.

"Never" It's normally pretty chill with supportive parents, I was planning on just not coming out and waiting until I got a girlfriend and then I realized... @M A. there is speculation that it was Bob Chapik who was head of diseny during the production of the first 2 seasons and he has a history of donating to anit LGBT causes. He stepped down as head of Disney animation but these decisions are made years in advance.
I just want to point out the foreshadowing, Gus shows hunter a cosmic frontier book, then says, "and chief engineer o-bailey who's hiding as a CLONE". Let that sink in, then later in the episode saying for hunter to cosplay as o-bailey, Gus was dropping subtle hints that he knows about hunter being a grimwalker, but just didn't want to bring it up.
You keep calling yourself an idiot, but I don't remember anyone else figuring out the Hollow Mind palisman crushing as a foreshadow. This episode made me cry three times. Camila's flashback, Luz's diary, and Flapjack. This may be at least the 6th time I watch it and Luz's video diary still gets me
In the final scene among the graves we can see a tombstone with the name of Owl House animator and couch squatter Spencer Wan. Known for his weakness to ice and amazing animation, in this world we can only presume Spencer was taken out by a snowball.
I always theorised that Flapjack and Hunter had some special connection because Hunter is the only person we've ever seen that can actually understand their Palisman. As in, like they're talking with another person. And I think that because Flapjack has merged with Hunter that Hunter can now perform magic freely, Flapjack basically acting like an artificial witch bile sack thing. Also, I have a feeling that because Hunter and Flapjack are now directly linked that Hunter will be able to converse with the spirit of Evelyn.
@@Janoha17 I feel like that was more like reading facial expressions and interpreting body language. While Hunter basically had full on conversations with Flapjack. Eda could understand Owlbert, but not converse with him like a fellow person. Even Bat Queen needed to use some kind of psychic link to converse with him. Hunter and Flapjack engaged in conversation, something we so no one else do. That's what I mean.

The thing that I found the saddest about Flapjack's death is the effect it wouls have on Hunter. At the beginning of the episode, you can see that he is in a really bad mental state, but then, within the following month, he starts feeling better. He was surrounded by people who loved him and away from the bad influences (Belos), he was discovering hobbies, he was acting like a teenager... His mental health improved considerably, probably the better he's ever been. And then, Belos comes back. And he ruins everything for him. Again. In the worst way possible. I hate him so much.
IMPORTANT FACT: TH-cam views for this episode, the ratings for the Disney Channel premier, AND the Amazing response from New York Comic-Con 2022 made Disney come out and ADMIT "they made a mistake shortening the show". CEO Bob Chapek stepped down & predecessor Bob Iger took over shortly thereafter (unrelated move, maybe?). IF Disney sees dollar signs $$$$ 🤑, MAYBE this bodes well "For The Future" ---- PUN INTENDED.
There's a very popular theory that Flapjack belonged to Caleb, and that Evelyn was the witch Caleb fell in love with. That's why in King's Tide when Belos saw Flapjack, he said "CALEB?!" And that's also why he said "Goodbye, Evelyn." when he killed Flapjack. Flapjack served as a reminder of both Caleb and Evelyn. Another popular theory is that Evelyn was a Clawthorne because of similarities in how she and Eda look, the fact that her name ends in "lyn" like other girls in the family (Edalyn, Gwendolyn, Evelyn) and the fact that we know that a Clawthorne knew a human.
In the very first episode of the show, Ida says that giraffes originated from the boiling isles, but were banished to the human realm for being too freaky. And when Gus is adopting his palisman, he says he wishes to travel to the human realm and reestablish contact with the giraffes.
It's so sad to watch the first minutes of this episode and realize it's showing like what could have been like 10 episodes of them having adventures in the human realm
The thing that bums me out about this episode is that every picture in willows album and every scene from the intro montage could have been its own episode if Disney wasn't Disney.

I am so glad you got to see the real Camila(ma) here. When you were sus of her in the first react I was a little heartbroken (by that time viewers had seen her acceptance of Vee) also Luz's eccentricities and perspectives and behaviours had to be encouraged by someone, I thought her dad, but clearly Camila too. And the Star Trek reference is from the original with Captain Kirk, Spok and O'Bryan. And Gus's comment,"Hey humans freak out just like us" also shows how Camila has had to hide her nerdiness. And can we please discuss Willow: Helping Hunter cut his hair - as he tries to hide the Grimwalker books. Encouraging Hunters costume. Asking to borrow the books and the WINK! Telling Camila to "Be careful with him" and I sware she told Gus NOT to mention the Witabane brother connection to let Hunter tell them when he is ready. Freaking love her.
I really like how adapted to the human realm Vee is. I imagine she doesn't care too much for Halloween because it reminds her of the demon realm and she's still dealing with that place being the place where most of her trauma occurred.
It hurts to know that this bomb of a show is ending. I’ll a 100% rewatch it in the future!!! Loved this reaction and I loved how we still got some lighthearted moments cause we really need it.

What Amity said to Luz at 46:12 is what Luz said to Amity when she asked her out. And remember Hooty made tea for Lilith? Amity put the tea bag in the wrong way around when she made tea for Camila, but it's not like they don't have tea in the Boiling Isles, as proven by Hooty making some for Lilith, so I think Amity knows how it's supposed to go, but was just nervous about making a good impression with Camila, and ended up doing something so adorably ditzy. Also, if you remember, Masha was one of the people Vee became friends with at summer camp, but we can gather that Vee and Masha haven't hung out in a while, given Vee's reaction when she saw them again, likely not since we were introduced to Vee. I think the reason for them not hanging out anymore is either because Vee didn't have enough magic to maintain her form disguised as Luz. After all, she was only getting so much from the cards Luz and Camila helped her get, and Vee was shown to be in her natural form when home alone with Camilla (possibly to conserve magic or to relax), or she didn't want to get too close to Masha as Luz so as not to deceive them or complicate Luz's life when she returned to the human realm. The fact they're supposedly hanging out again, or even dating, now that Vee has her own human form is so cute. I love that even if we don't get to see how it develops, it's great this is the direction they went with it because now Vee can do as she pleases without worrying about pretending to be someone else or making things harder for Luz.
(At 10:45) maybe cuz the Red Cardinal has "experience" in the human world. That and he may know this. After all apparently Eda's not the only witch that has came to the human realm. Plus, Flapjack is probably older than everyone.

The thing that caught me most off guard was Luz's classroom tirade. It left me feeling, "Jesus, this girl needs help, that's suicidal talk right there." There's such a difference in her eyes; in the early episodes they looked so bright and cheery, like she couldn't wait to go out and conquer the world. Now she looks so tired, like if she didn't have important goals to accomplish, she might just lie in bed all day.
Depression hits hard.
Also, Hunter just bawling his eyes out because he's considered part of the family. 🥺
Luz and Hunter both express suicidal ideation in this series (Hunter is literally digging his own grave in S2E9 cause he failed a mission) and I’m honestly shocked Disney censors let them get that dark.

Some cool stuff: when Gus makes Belos relive his trauma, he seems to be able to see Hunter's creation, and learns that he's a Grimwalker. Gus pointing out that one of the characters in Cosmic Frontier was a clone to Hunter wasn't an accident, and he wants Hunter to feel like he belongs. This is shown even more later when Gus says that he thinks the character that he later cosplays as "already knows" that Hunter's favourite character is a clone.
I just know this is going to be the only thing keeping me sane until For the Future 13 hours after this starts. Such an intense, heartbreaking episode this was.
Camilla really just is what every parent should strive to be.
Also, the really gruesome thing about Belos possessing Hunter is that when he possessed those animals before, he dissolved them alive until they were nothing but bones and he had to move to a different host,- and that's what he did to Hunter as well!
Really hope Hunter and Luz have the happiest of endings, 'cause these kids really deserve it.

In "Hunting Palisman" when Flapjack told the Bat Queen that they found someone, the Bat Queen replied "...after all this time." I didn't pick up on that until this episode. Flapjack had been waiting for centuries to make a connection! 😢 I can't even imagine what the poor little guy went through! I mean think about it, Flap was Evelyn's Palisman, so the love she had for Caleb, Flapjack knew firsthand.
The 2nd episode of season 3 will be airing on the official Disney Channel TH-cam channel on the 21st at 10 PM. From what I've heard, the ratings of the 1st episode of season 3 on YT were enough to make Disney sit up and notice them, so please spread the word that one of the best ways we can show Disney we want more of this show is to make episode 2's ratings even better!

@@WeeLassReacts I'm an OG Avatar fan, and it's still a phenomenal show. Have you seen Legend of Korra? I also think it's outstanding, and I'd recommend She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (2018) if you're looking for other shows to react to. It's beautiful, emotional, nuanced, and also very gay.
@Jeremy the Gent Legend of Korra isn't bad. But you can tell it suffers from being an inital one-off that became popular enough for the network to demand more. It had a lot of good ideas but bad execution (though I blame the network for not giving the showrunners enough time).
I still like it but definitely a shadow of its predecessor in quality.
@@unvoicedapollo3318 I agree with some of what you're saying. It's not as consistently amazing as Airbender, and it definitely would've helped if Nickelodeon had greenlit 3-4 seasons from the start. But when it hits its stride, I love it.
Camila is such a good mom, taking in five kids from another world, supporting her daughter, both in terms of her interests, and her sexuality despite what everyone around her says, and even saving a possessed Hunter from drowning. And now she's going to the demon realm with Luz to help and protect her. I'm happy to say, she's become one of my favorite characters.

The masks Luz and Hunter wear are the mascots for the Band-Aid company Boo Boo Buddies. You can see them on the box when Luz pulled it out of the medicine cabinet. They just have a similar appearance to King and Hooty.
Alot of people forget her bringing the snakes to school in the first episode. A snake biting the principal was the "last straw" that caused her mom to send her to camp.

I absolutely love Vee, she IS adorable. Like Luz's more well-adjusted little sister. I also love that Camila seems to have full-on adopted her as a daughter. Camila really is best mom.
Also I love when Luz gets up to go sleep in her mom's room Amity and Willow's cots are a little away from Luz's bed, the next time we see Luz get up in the middle of the night, Amity and Willow's cots are much closer to Luz's bed. Little details.
Also the line kid Luz says, " I think this was the worst week ever," and the animation on that moment break me every time I watch it. I want hug her.

In reference to the thing about accepting parents: I got really lucky with my coming out situation. I had been questioning my sexuality for months until I learned I was Bi. I kinda kept delaying my coming out for a while until I felt I was ready. Then one night, in May of 2021 while my sister was visiting, I came out to her, my mom and my dad. Not only were they totally chill, but my sister literally got up and hugged me while shouting "I knew it, I knew it!" I was happy but also a bit surprised that she said that of all things but yeah, that's how my coming out went. My family for the most part is pretty understanding and I already had a cousin who had come out as gay some time before that point. My parents don't really treat me any differently, except now my mom makes "your future spouse" jokes instead of "your future wife" jokes.

Yes Flapjack!! Poor Hunter, he was created just to suffer, not just in-universe by Belos but also by the writers. But, in the months since this episode first aired, I've really come around on the choice to kill off Flapjack. Not only was it extremely foreshadowed (to the point where it was a fandom meme that he was gonna die... we regretted it when it happened), but it was also kind of inevitable just from the way the narrative was constructed. Flapjack is a remnant of Evelyn and Caleb, people who died centuries ago but whose memory Belos is keeping alive in his undying hatred for them (and also by literally making clones of Caleb). It wouldn't be possible to move on and look to the future while he still exists. Also, by saving Hunter's life, Flapjack finally broke the cycle of Belos killing his brother over and over again. My hope is that Hunter will learn to carve palismen, making a new friend in the process that represents his own identity instead of the dark history hanging heavily over him. Also, carving palismen would be a really beautiful and poetic way for him to start healing the damage Belos did to the world... something everyone is going to play a part in, that responsibility shouldn't fall on any one person.
As a side note, I love Vee, and I love that she's the only one in the group of kids who can act like a 'normal human' because she went to the summer camp.

If you pay attention, the only witches in the show who have birds as their palisman are the Clawthorns and Hunter. And now we know Flapjack was the palisman of Caleb's witch lover.
I bloody love how Camila’s dream re-frames and establishes what was really going on between her and Luz.
That they *both* grew up with ‘odd’ interests and imaginations in a way that didn’t ‘fit’ what was acceptable in school/society, and that Camila was pushed into sending Luz to the camp out of fear. We see the same in Amity being pressured by her parents, Willow’s well-meaning dads viewing the Abomination track as more useful, every single insidious element of the Emperor’s control over the Isles’ culture…
The show’s powerful, fierce narrative that challenges how a status quo - in the ‘Human Realm’ and the Isles harms, often violently, those who don’t ‘fit in’ is one of the best things about it. I really hope that aspect continues to the end and Luz, Camila, and everyone gets a chance to live their lives as who they are.

Headcanon/theory thing: King would be able to use glyphs in the Human Realm, and that glyphs in general are the way that titans control their own magic - rather than commanding the magic around them as they with humans, demons, and witches, titans could use glyphs to channel their own power.
Word-for-word, my reaction to this episode on a discord server I'm in was as follows:
"Camila YES! Flapjack NO!"
Camila in this episode was just... Incredible. I think I've heard that, while the crew always knew she was a good mom, they hadn't actually decided on how to depict that at first. And I think they knocked it out of the park. While I'm still sad that the show was shortened, there is a silver lining. Though I don't think it's ever been stated outright, the crew has implied multiple times that Season 3's overall plot only exists because the show was shortened. These three specials can be used to tell the sorts of stories they'd never have been able to tell otherwise, to really send the show off with a bang. I'm sad that the show didn't get the time it should have, but I'm glad for the stories we're getting that we wouldn't have otherwise. It's sort of... bittersweet.
So, something about this episode: Luz is going into her sophomore year in high school, meaning she's most likely fifteen by this point. However, we know that she was fourteen during Season 1. Based on the fact that she would've returned home in early September, she probably turned fifteen at some point during Season 2 while she was stuck in the Demon Realm unable to contact her mother at all... ouch.
Also, I sort of just wanted to talk about time in general, because this episode's dialogue is a little weird about how it describes the amount of time that the kids were stuck in the Human Realm. Amity says it's been "months" without specifying. Based on what clues we can see in the episodes, it's actually been slightly less than two months: the Day of Unity would have been in the first few days of September, and this episode would've taken place over the last few days of October. Also, this episodes presentation suggests that it takes place over the course of three days, but based on that the show takes place in 2022 it should be four days: starting Friday with Luz at school, and ending on Halloween the following Monday.
Something I've seen people bring up is that glyphs didn't work in the Season 1 finale, even though there were two sources of Titan's Blood nearby: The portal key and King. With the key, I think it can be attributed to how little blood was in it in the first place, but with King that's not really the case. There's two main thoughts of why this could be: Either he's too young to have much magic, or his veins keep any of the magic in his blood from leaking out. I personally think that it's the latter, since it lines up with what we saw in Eclipse Lake with his father's veins reflecting any magic sent at them. This is the train of thought that led me to think that maybe King would be able to use glyphs in the Human Realm: he doesn't have a bile sac and so can't cast spells on his own, but has powerful magic because he's a titan - so, perhaps that's what glyphs are for in the first place.
As far as I'm aware, this episode does not contain coded messages in the background. Most likely, the only hidden message is the first word of each episode, writing out a three-word sentence. Which, ah... I don't know if the title of the last episode has been announced officially or not, but I have heard what it is. Anyway...

The reason glyphs didn't work in the Human Realm despite King being there is because the Titan's Veins reflect the magic inward, keeping it from escaping.
And I suspect that the glass of the key was also made from Titan Vein.

With all the theories about Luz's palisman being a snake, I definitely could've seen it simply uncoiling rather than hatching, and the "egg" is it's staff form
I don’t think Flapjack was Evelyn’s palisman.
Flapjack already had a bond with Hunter before they ever met. Flapjack sought him out, and Hunter never had to tell him his deepest wish. Flapjack was shown in the haunted hay ride as the magic Evelyn showed to Caleb. Eda learned palisman carving from her father, whose palisman looks like a yellow Flapjack, one of many hints that Evelyn is a Clawthorne ancestor, so it’s possible Evelyn was a palisman carver too.
I think Flapjack was Caleb’s palisman, carved for him by Evelyn. That’s why he’s already pre-bonded to Hunter, and that’s why Belos seems to hate him. To Belos, Flapjack is the physical manifestation of the “corruption” he murdered Caleb over.
Also, Hunter is a Grimwalker, his keratin is made of palistrom wood, so he’s literally part palisman himself. It’s probably why Flapjack was able to save him in the first place.
The goose at 24:16 was also a palisman from palisma on adoption day
Gotta love how much character development we for Camila in this episode not only do we see just how far she's willing to go for Luz's friends and girlfriend but we also get her perspective on a lot of previous events of Luz's life including the fact that she was emotionally manipulated to send Luz to camp.

I just want to point out the foreshadowing, Gus shows hunter a cosmic frontier book, then says, "and chief engineer o-bailey who's hiding as a CLONE". Let that sink in, then later in the episode saying for hunter to cosplay as o-bailey, Gus was dropping subtle hints that he knows about hunter being a grimwalker, but just didn't want to bring it up.

This episode made me cry three times. Camila's flashback, Luz's diary, and Flapjack. This may be at least the 6th time I watch it and Luz's video diary still gets me
In the final scene among the graves we can see a tombstone with the name of Owl House animator and couch squatter Spencer Wan. Known for his weakness to ice and amazing animation, in this world we can only presume Spencer was taken out by a snowball.

I always theorised that Flapjack and Hunter had some special connection because Hunter is the only person we've ever seen that can actually understand their Palisman. As in, like they're talking with another person. And I think that because Flapjack has merged with Hunter that Hunter can now perform magic freely, Flapjack basically acting like an artificial witch bile sack thing.
Also, I have a feeling that because Hunter and Flapjack are now directly linked that Hunter will be able to converse with the spirit of Evelyn.
Eda could understand Owlbert.
@@Janoha17 I feel like that was more like reading facial expressions and interpreting body language. While Hunter basically had full on conversations with Flapjack. Eda could understand Owlbert, but not converse with him like a fellow person. Even Bat Queen needed to use some kind of psychic link to converse with him.
Hunter and Flapjack engaged in conversation, something we so no one else do. That's what I mean.

The thing that I found the saddest about Flapjack's death is the effect it wouls have on Hunter. At the beginning of the episode, you can see that he is in a really bad mental state, but then, within the following month, he starts feeling better. He was surrounded by people who loved him and away from the bad influences (Belos), he was discovering hobbies, he was acting like a teenager... There's a very popular theory that Flapjack belonged to Caleb, and that Evelyn was the witch Caleb fell in love with. That's why in King's Tide when Belos saw Flapjack, he said "CALEB?!" And that's also why he said "Goodbye, Evelyn." when he killed Flapjack. Flapjack served as a reminder of both Caleb and Evelyn. Another popular theory is that Evelyn was a Clawthorne because of similarities in how she and Eda look, the fact that her name ends in "lyn" like other girls in the family (Edalyn, Gwendolyn, Evelyn) and the fact that we know that a Clawthorne knew a human.

the crew confirmed that the original plan was to end the show with the day of Unity being the climax (the collector wasn't even part of the show pre-shortening !) so no, we wouldn't have gotten any human realm episodes (but we would have gotten more yes :c )

I am so glad you got to see the real Camila(ma) here. When you were sus of her in the first react I was a little heartbroken (by that time viewers had seen her acceptance of Vee) also Luz's eccentricities and perspectives and behaviours had to be encouraged by someone, I thought her dad, but clearly Camila too. And the Star Trek reference is from the original with Captain Kirk, Spok and O'Bryan. And Gus's comment,"Hey humans freak out just like us" also shows how Camila has had to hide her nerdiness.

What Amity said to Luz at 46:12 is what Luz said to Amity when she asked her out. And remember Hooty made tea for Lilith? Amity put the tea bag in the wrong way around when she made tea for Camila, but it's not like they don't have tea in the Boiling Isles, as proven by Hooty making some for Lilith, so I think Amity knows how it's supposed to go, but was just nervous about making a good impression with Camila, and ended up doing something so adorably ditzy.
Also, if you remember, Masha was one of the people Vee became friends with at summer camp, but we can gather that Vee and Masha haven't hung out in a while, given Vee's reaction when she saw them again, likely not since we were introduced to Vee. I think the reason for them not hanging out anymore is either because Vee didn't have enough magic to maintain her form disguised as Luz. After all, she was only getting so much from the cards Luz and Camila helped her get, and Vee was shown to be in her natural form when home alone with Camilla (possibly to conserve magic or to relax), or she didn't want to get too close to Masha as Luz so as not to deceive them or complicate Luz's life when she returned to the human realm. The fact they're supposedly hanging out again, or even dating, now that Vee has her own human form is so cute. I love that even if we don't get to see how it develops, it's great this is the direction they went with it because now Vee can do as she pleases without worrying about pretending to be someone else or making things harder for Luz.
Flapjack was originally Evelyn's Palisman. Hunter was a Grimwalker of Caleb, which is why Flapjack cared for him so quickly
(At 10:45) maybe cuz the Red Cardinal has "experience" in the human world. That and he may know this. After all apparently Eda's not the only witch that has came to the human realm. Plus, Flapjack is probably older than everyone.
