using thousands of people worth of power to play a shittier version of minecraft seems very bad for... well everything theres several problems with this, lets start with the biggest two this can only recreate or reuse material, it cant create its own without taking someone else's work and melting it into something different. this is both terrible for creativity and terrible for artist's ability to get paid secondly, generative ai uses an ungodly amount of power. it was thought to be possible to create generative ai before but the power consumption and technology required was far too complex for use, now we have billion dollar corporations who can buy the rights to any power generated by an entire nuclear power plant for their ai and the engineers smart enough to make generative ai, however the power consumption is still obscenely high and for the product its a near 100000 to 1 return, you use the power of thousands of people per hour to generate something that has no practical or artistic purpose outside of "wow that exists now!" now for one of the smaller issues, that being its utterly useless as a proof of concept for anything. it has no spacial awareness, looking up changes the world around you, water a portal, and nothing looks quite right. what is this supposed to prove? that ai cant keep track of 2 balls if you put 1 behind a cup? making this video quite literally had a measurable negative impact on the global environment by using generative ai
