- Saban is at it again. Did they learn their lessons after their first crack at adapting a Precure series? Was Super Megaforce any good?

If Saban was so determined to localize Pretty Cure for Western audiences, then why would they keep the “Dokidoki” subtitle? In Japanese, the term “Dokidoki” is used to refer to the sound of a heartbeat and has no English meaning. Wouldn’t it have made more sense to call it “Glitter Force: Heart Beat” or something along those lines?
I personally really like DokiDoki Precure, and I know a lot of people weren't a fan of it, but I don't think it's undeniable that this is excessive cutting. Like...condensing episodes this much shows that they don't really care for the original material. :/
And the cutting of character development is indeed very frustrating. I hope they don't really mess with Regina's story too much.
*EDIT:* Also yes, NO don't they dare cut Ira and Rikka's episode. That one was really sweet.

To be honest, I've never seen toei do well with its dubs. The original sailor moon ojamajo and one piece dubs were all fairly different than the original shows. We'll see though. I just hope they start selling more merchandise here in the states!

About that Toei NEVER made a SINGLE English Dub AFTER BOTH Glitter Force dubs of Smile and Doki Doki Precure FAILED as ones.
I just realized what they did with Doki Doki. The name Glitter Force Doki Doki is just a front. They just borrowed the trademarked name they used for Smile and slapped it onto Doki Doki to hide the true name. It's true name is Doki Doki Precure: the Abridged series.

Doki Doki Precure is one of my most favorite Precure series of all time, and to see it get this sort of treatment from the west, yup it is understandable why Toei wouldn't want that to happen to one of Japan's most popular franchise. Also if you want to know more about Megaforce or Super Megarforce go watch Linkara's History of Power Ranger episode on that, but the short version summary is, it is BAD!
Doki Doki PreCure started the PreCure franchise's current ratings decline.
And it's a misconception that Toei took the series back, more like it was passed on to them to plan for the future. A few months before the transfer, Toei filed a Glitter Force merchandise trademark that went live before the May 26th production transfer. In all likelihood it's going to stay in house with either Saban or Toei themselves at Studiopolis, but Toei is just taking time to plan their core for future installments. Toei USA's website hasn't updated their PreCure page since the start of Maho Girls, and it's likely because they see plans for Glitter Force.
I am not sure if this is true, but from what I gathered at a blog, the Precure franchise's decline has already begun once Heartcatch begins, and the ratings keeps declining from Suite onwards till today.
Whether or not Doki Doki Precure started the franchise's decline, I truly love Doki Doki Precure for what it is, but to see it being butchered in the localization is unacceptable to me. If this keeps up, Glitter Force won't even survive for one more series, heck I can't even imagine how are they going to survive through Happiness Charge.
Retroranger Review Show I just hope they handle the dubs with more care to the originals instead of doing the immense amount of cutting Saban did. Since Doki Doki is probably my least favorite out of the Precure's, the changes made didn't really anger me all that much (tho it still was very annoying to see), but if something like this happens to Heartcatch or Go!Princess, then I'll be very upset. All I want is for them to stick closer to the originals. Name changes and minor stuff like that isn't a problem for me, but cutting or changing the meaning of some episodes is.
Maka Albarn Okay apparently I remembered it incorrectly, yes Heartcatch did had an increase, then it dropped in Suite but pick up again at Smile. Doki Doki did cause a decrease, however Go Princess Precure also cause a decrease in TV ratings. Ironically despite Maho Tsukai having a decrease in ratings, toy sales are a lot better.

I thought Glitter Force Doki Doki was a pretty solid adaptation, but the episode edits are ridiculous. Not just for cutting out sub-plots and character development, but also just from a story-telling perspective. Some of the "new" episodes make little-to-no sense! I hope Toei continues adapting Pretty Cure into english (Either as Glitter Force or Pretty Cure), but without the edits, censorship, and erasure Saban has tried.

Definitely better voice actresses than the previous one.
Guess, This is gonna piss off a lot of not only Rikka fan's but the Fans of the Dokidoki PreCure itself , I have no complaints with Doki Doki but I think Pretty Cure was never meant to be a Saban product.
Well, I liked that it happened! I also like to accept glitter force, for what it is, and for what they have done with, and I don't want to bother knowing about or seeing the cut episodes, since for me it is like seeing it in a whole diferent way, although I try to like it, but not like this

That's not very nice Cure Hana. When I first found out about it, I loved the name and didn't it could have been nicer. It could make me see each character as shiny and glitter, which I thought was perfect and would not excpect that it sounded week for somebody who just wanted to name their original girl anime, which they could have in the world. Imagine if glitter force was the original name, then I wonder if you would have noticed that it sounded lame.

My favorite Precure is probably Smile Precure but, I have not watched Glitter Force. I probably will not and same with the Doki Doki version because, I like the original so why watch it over again with cut episodes; no thanks! Doki Doki would also be on my list for favorite Precure series. 🤔🙁
I knew glitter force first. When I founded out about prexure later, I was kinda interested in seeing that version next, but now it's kind of complicated. Since I stopped watching glitter force for a while since I knew precure, it doesn't feel comfortable to me to watch smile or dokidoki now, since for me, the original was glitter force, and the only reason I even know precure. I could still watch other seasons, but just not those two exactly, and if I do see clip from both series know and then, it's only short times, and I try to keep precure and glitter force serenade, so it doesn't confuse and complicate me, because I still want to watch and know the glitter force series as the way they are and how I used to think of them, and thinking that it was orginal, but it's hard because I know see both differently as precure as a diferent version that I was used to, and it doesn't really help by the fact that other are making me feel like that I am being forced to like the original version only and see it as the way that it is
They cut a lot of Rikka's episodes and secenes? Well that doesn't bode well for the one episode that helped really give Mana some deep characterisation, that being the one, that explains Mana is always able to do what she does, because Rikka always has her back.
Also couldn't care less if they cut Rikka's episode with Ira, since in the original the subplot it introduced went no where and the romantic subtext felt really forced from Rikka's perspective. Also just my opinion, but felt like the story they did with Honoka and Kiriya, only don baldy.
Technically, episode 12 wasn’t completely cut, either. The very end, where Regina first appeared, was kept in the dub.

Actually, I think even of a teensy bit of episode 12 was shown in glitter force, because from seeing your first reveiw on it, it seems like they only putted that small scene where regina appears for the first time, right in the end without showing her face, but it was also the episode right before her first full appearance in glitter force, in the rose, contest alice episode. So that would mean in a way, every episode in the first half of the season really had sighting of all them in any way.

I love the fact that when you look up the episodes of either the original Doki Doki precure or the dub that instead of having the episodes in one list and just the sub and dub numbers on the left like with smile or other shows like Pokémon, it instead has two different lists for both the original and the Saban recreation.

This is making me want to watch the original
And it's kind of sad😥, if that means that the it is making you, is by trying to point out that the dubb is awful, which it is not, and it is original in it's own way, in it's own version and name. No one should be forced to like something only that others like just by trashing you like, just imagine if it did happen to you. This can inspire you to watch the other version, by just mention it, like it did to me in the bigginig, but unfortunately it had to be much more complicated than that. This is the reason why now I change my mind about liking the japanese, I don't even want to see it, because I feel like it's going to spoil for my thoughts on glitter force, and I want to like it and accept it like I originally did. I was first interested about knowing the original japanese,, but seeing the way how it's fans are treating for it with original that I first liked, it just doesn't seem worth it. I feel like people are trying to force to me to like the other good thing with more of it, and it doesn't make it is look good, if it's side is like barging against the other one in a mean way, not having very good way of a support towards, it trying to compare it
I actually stayed up until 4 am to finish glitter force doki dokis first season and now i can't wait for more! Awh!

As a person who never watched "Doki Doki Precure", and who just watched all of "glitter force doki doki" the other day, I can easily say I enjoyed Glitter Force's version regardless. While I will agree that "cutting" entire episodes isn't good for the show, that didn't make it feel any less seamless in my watching of it. While some cuts are strange and weird, others aren't that bad. Such as when Maya decided to reveal her secret identity to Rachel. Rachel is her best friend and Maya had flying magical pixies with her to back up the claim. It's not hard to see that Rachel, with the obvious evidence shown to her, believed What she was told by her Best Friend.
Thanks for the support! I wish more could understand. That did not seem weird to me either, and I knew glitter force first, and loved it. How was I suppose to suspect that it not make sense, and that there was another version that adds up

Well I am even angry with you if you are going to to insult this and all the work, because I ckuld not find a reason yo be mad at something that is diferent and nice in their own way you just don't like it if they do something just as good ot fine diferently!! I you are going to be mad at them and their actors, then also try to be mad at me for liking it first, and just so happening to find it, because that would be ridiculous! Also I wish people would just leave glitter force alone, and saying that precure is the only great thing. Maybe it's because I am a bit biased against Doki Doki, but I liked a lot of the changes that were made. I found myself more entertained by the material. I can almost guarantee that these episode cuts are partially a response to negative feedback about the Japanese series and partially due to budget. Let's see how the back half does.
I have yet to take a look at the English dub of Digimon Adventure tri yet, so I can't say how Toei will handle it on its own with only a distributor backing it, but we will see. They've already done more than Saban by actually getting the first series' opening finally available for sale. So there is that.
I'm probably in the same boat as you. Didn't really care for the original version and I'm fine with them skipping some of the filler episodes, but I do think they went a little overboard with the cuts. I just hope the latter half and the inevitable other seasons of Glitter Force will be treated better.

put it in a kids perspective, they always get side-tracted, i feel like doki doki glitter force was busy enough which made my eyes glued to my laptop, which is super rare for me. besides cutting episodes from a anime with mainly filters is really nothing to stress over about if the plot is still there (which it is)

Now, although I agree Glitter Force isn't a great dub, it isn't going anywhere, like it or not. If there is actual evidence that Toei is cancelling it, I'd love to know as well.

I hope this BS Netflix Adaptation series will end. And also I an Praying that they skip the episode with Ira having amnesia. Oh, not because i hate it! I Love that episode. But with that VA they casted to portray him in Glitter Force...lets just say it is the 6th Gen anime dub of Pokemon all over again. #SAWYERBURNINHELL he is bleeping younger than Ash! In my honest opinion I thought that Ben Diskin did a good job at voicing Ira, I say this because if I'm remembering this right, at his core Ira is supposed to be impulsive, childish, and bratty
Patrick Condron and they couldnt find an actual kid VA or get Tara Strong to voice Ira? I am sorry but half the choices companies make for Casting VAs for male child characters are completely lazy. I mean it works for shows like digimon where they have a wide cast of characters that are roughly the same age with a majority of them being male, but when a show has more female characters its like they dont put in the effort to cast voices for the relatively few main male child characters. The ONLY exception to this critisism is the original English dub of Sailor Moon. Throughout seasons 1 and 2 male child characters were given voices that made them sound like the ages they were and also fit the characters personality even if they were just one off characters with maybe one or two exceptions per season tops, and by season 3 the voices for child characters in general were even better, especially with Rini. Which is something i appreciated. Where is that kind of effort to casting roles? Is it because they are too lazy? Its just so aggravating, and grating on the ears.
