My brother was a high powered Washington DC Attorney. A sharp Litigator and much in demand. He was also a life long Agnostic, borderline Atheist despite going to excellent Catholic Elementary and High Schools. In 1994, he went to Southern Italy to visit another Attorney who had retired at 50 and settled in the Calabria area. He was asked by some local ladies if he stop at this Monastery. At first, he said that he charged $2,200.00 but said he would and at no charge. Next thing I know, he apparently asked to become a Choirmonk & Priest. He went through a rigorous check and psychological battery including a call to his own Psychologist. Waivers were accepted and he is now a very happy Carthusian Choirmonk & Priest.

I can tell you that KYRIE ELEISON, CHRISTE ELEISON is from Greek and means LORD HAVE MERCY, CHRIST HAVE MERCY.
If I had the text of the sufficient knowledge of Latin and Greek, I would translate it...but I have not :-(
