    Back home from school one summer I think I saw you play at a festival at Navy Pier in Chicago. You were sportin' a Fro plaing guitar for a very famous Jazz drummer. Any chance it was you?
    I to play at nursing homes and I did an exercise piece you did for the magazine Guitar Technique. It was only 30 seconds but I loved it. When I was approached and asked about it by the folks, it as an opportunity to say "The reason you liked me playing was because of the writing and that is the great Jimmy Bruno". Iam not a Jazz player but I had to learn it and then tell people about you. You made me look GOOD!
    THANKS

    Thanks for the tour. I enjoy seeing an artist's work space and seeing where the magic is being made. Surprised to see a Quilter combo amp, honestly. But they do sound good and have a long history of popularity in the Southern California area, but I didn't realize that Maestro Bruno would be playing one out on the East Coast. I have a Quilter Mini 101 (head) and it has plenty of clean head-room for jazz guitar applications. But I prefer my little Fender Vibro-Champ combo amp because the tube rectifier makes it "warmer." I was expecting to see rows and rows of guitar cases, but maybe these are in storage. Thanks again for an intimate look into your man-cave.

    Jimmy, I noticed something but wanted to confirm. When you walk up a 3 note voicing, like you do at 2:00 here from Abmaj to Cminor, when you get to the Bbminor, are you able to hold down both the 4th and 3rd strings with just your ring finger? That's fucking hard to do!

I did a double take when I Googled you and realized you are two years younger than Scofield and Frisell :). I love your wit and commitment to such a great era of songwriting and jazz playing. There is a love ballad in that phrase, "I seem to have lost interest....." It could be both about falling out of love with a woman AND a severely devalued savings account after major economic collapse.
      Fine romance? Lost another one.
      Net worth? It ain't a large sum.

I can play my ass off but I never taught myself to read notation. I;m a real dedicated player/(student) too. So what's the best way to learn how to read music? If I dedicate a good quality 1/2 hour a day to
    it how long would you estimate that it would take to become a real good notation reader? Oh yea I'm staying pissed off too. Thanks

    • @JimmyBrunoJazz
      @JimmyBrunoJazz  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Quincy.. Learning to read is not that hard but you would have to start from ground zero... If you are doing fine with your playing, you don't HAVE to read

    • @quincy8914
      @quincy8914 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Jimmy. Yes I can play my ass off but I still want to learn how to read to be the "complete player". Also I do think it makes it easier to communicate with other players and for them to be able to communicate with me. Plus yes I can play my ass off and I'm going Pro with it soon. And I know the music business is "harder" than it used to be and yadda yadda yadda. I know it was easier to make a buck in the music biz before the I.T. industry stole the music business. You don;t hear people talking about it that way but that's what really happened. The money in music is still there but instead of it going to the record companies and the artists like it used to now a big chunk of it is going to Tech companies. You want to buy music these days where do you go? These days they don;t even go to UMG or some other record company to buy music they go to APPLE itunes, or stream it on Spotify. Pandora, or Apple music etc. Those suckers even give away the artists/human beings work the artist generated through their blood, sweat, and tears for FREE to get traffic to their websites then the Tech company (which is what those companies I mentioned really are) get's paid BILLIONS through Ad revenue. Pretty slick huh? Steal the artists work then Tech companies make BILLIONS of $$$$$$ from the Ad revenue meanwhile many artists are now struggling. Putting out records that can only sell a fraction of what records used to sell and then being told by record companies that they actually owe the record company money for its services and crap like that, total fucking bullshit. Even this site right here TH-cam (part of Google, a giant Tech company) steals artists work gives it away and makes BILLIONS off of the Ad revenue. Don't believe me well Merryl Lynch recently valued TH-cam at over $70 BILLION dollars. A nice chunk of change considering Google only paid about $1.6 Billion for it when they bought it. These crooks are making BILLIONS of of the music industry alone so they should give thanks for the music/enertainment business everyday and do their best to make sure the industries stay healthy and strong. That also includes artists being able to get paid and paid well at all levels and all aspects of the game. If not then eventually somehow someday they'll get pushed out somehow and the artists and labels will take it all back, Karma's a bitch ;)
      Do I sound pissed of enough to you Jimmy? These mutha fuckas out here got me working security, guarding their fucking overpriced bullshit products. If some of their products get stolen they have a fit. Yet these Tech companies have been doing the same thing to musicians. They STEAL musicians PRODUCT. nobody really uses that word for the musicians output put it is their PRODUCT just like their overpriced bullshit they have me guarding are their product. The common thief steals from a store then goes out and tries to sell it on the "black market" (whatever the fuck that is?) to make an easy buck. Well these Tech companies have been doing the same damn thing except they don't have to run from the cops or hide it. No they do it right out in the open. Steal from musicians by getting their PRODUCT for FREE then getting paid a fast buck through Ad revenue (is that the new black market lol?) For the PRODUCT they stole from the artist.
      OMG how did I get on that rant?? I guess it was my turn to go on a rant. See I'm pissed off too and not just about that. Anyway Yes I'm going Pro with it. It's harder today then it was in yesteryear, well so what. It's not ALL about money with me it's about something that's supposed to be more important than money and that called LOVE. I LOVE it, I can play my ass off in jazz as well as rock and blues. I'm really creative too and can write. Put that together with my serious and well developed talent and a heaping helping of LOVE and I'll find a way to make a buck in the game. I'm really really fucking good, I LOVE it, it's my passion, and I want to accomplish some BIG philanthropy through my gifts. That's what I'm going to do. I'm an atheist, and hardcore on that, but I still want to do BIG philanthropy to assist needy folks out there. The philanthropy piece was also a big part of me deciding to do music. I suppose that makes me part of the proof that you don't need no stinking religion to care about and want to help the needy out there. I just need jackasses to get out of the way and help me get my thang started so that I can make it all happen, and do it quick before I put a goddamned brick through their collective skulls. Is that pissed off enough for ya my friend?
