I think he loved her. I don’t think he loved how he felt AROUND her. One thing that is very clear to me: this is a guy who felt trapped, 100%. Regardless of how he reacted. He was in a situation he no longer wanted to be in. He felt cornered and wanted out, and blamed her for the way he felt. He reacted poorly. My guess is that he didn’t have great emotional role models growing up. Maybe his parents didn’t give a shit about his feelings. It sounds like an excuse but you never know what that hell is like unless you grew up with it. It makes your patience VERY thin. It’s like having PTSD, where you’re forced to endure trauma over and over with no foreseeable way out. When you grow up feeling like an inconvenience, with parents that never cared how you felt and only did what was in THEIR best interests, it is very anger inducing. You remember the feeling of wanting to get out of that situation so bad but having no other choice. You feel trapped and angry that you can’t do anything.
