Agreed lol I'm trying this right now and I can get the pop, have my back foot follow it, and get back on but stepping off / doing it like while is hard af
I used to skate 20 years ago and the more I watch your videos, the more I was driven to go back skating. And I've been back to skating for 2 months since, having a blast! Thank you Jonny for sparking my fire for skating again!
watching ray barbee on public domain as a kid convinced me that no comply was the ultimate flat ground trick. and matt hensley in shackle me not as well. but yeah this was so awesome!
The freeze frame at the end of Ray Barbee's part made everybody realise that you jumped at the board BEFORE the board lands. That helped a lot. Great editing job
I was impressed that I actually had his signature deck. I could do these long before I could kick flip. I used to do a variation where body goes fs board goes bs, never seen anyone do that, but quite easy. If only we'd had tutorials like these back in the day.
@@uttopya1 oh nice! so not stealing your thunder, but check out natas kaupas bit in "streets of fire" he does something similar, *if* i'm understanding your description (i may not be, at all, so there is that!)
Hey Jonny, nice tutorial! I love this new, more detailed style. Way better than many other trick tips where they're just like "pop, make the trick, land bolts, lol" Those different foot positions and how they effect the physics of the board is so interesting. Could you do a trick tip on the BACKSIDE version of this as well? Verry rare trick, but in my opinion verry underrated. I have the feeling that I'm struggling with the foot placement on that one. Board does anything, but nothing near a backside 180 No Comply LMAO. Thanks a lot for all your work and effort on this channel. Greetings from Germany (da fällt mir jetzt gerade erst auf, dass ich das ganze auch einfach auf deutsch hätte schreiben können hahahaha)
Based on what he explained in his videos accross the last six months, you should also be able to "deduce" the proper foot positioning/motion purely by thinking about it. But hey, hand-on practice just feels way better. xD
Ma boy, thanks for that video! Maybe i'll finally understand no complys after watching this. Can you please make more trick tips, preferably on 360 pop shove it's,fs heelflips or late shove it's(bs and/or fs)? Anyway, keep up the great work and i can't wait to see you killing it at batb 12!!!
Hey, Jonny! I love to return to your channel and watch your guides and trick challenges. Mostly because of your attitude )) Its so rad and important to me!
Thanks for the tutorial! Every body else says" it's easy just pop the board and spin " but no... I'm a beginner i smacked me shins , landed one leg side ways and falled , my son asked me what was i trying to do. Your tutorial actually works !
Probably you could do at some point another video on No Comply variations. I think the No Comply is one of the easiest tricks to add variations to (like variations, revert, 360) once you unlocked the standard 180 frontside No Comply. Can give a fast learning progress for beginners.
Jonny I think this is an awesome style. Super receivable to new skaters the way you explain foot placement and movement, alternate methods, and intermediate steps. Keep doing this shit the world needs more skaters
I learned this trick pretty far into skating. I’m not sure why I watched this, since I can already do it. But when I learned it I couldn’t stop doing them. They are so fun
Thank you Jonny. This is exactly everything a beginner needs to learn this trick. Great trick tip for a great trick. I've always loved this trick and now do it 360 to fakie on banks
Tried it yesterday for an hour straight, harder than it looks but way worth it, i kind of landed two ugly and sketchy ones as hell but they felt like I'm king of the world baby. Oh and then I broke off my nose with a shove it so it was game over but that's another story haha can't wait for the new deck to arrive to go and practice it some more. Oh and watch the shins guys this one is a shin killer 😂
i recently learned exactly that trick more or less by accident and realized that its realy a lot easier then it looks one of the best ways to setup for fakie i believe
Super awesome fun trick. And once you "get it" it becomes super easy to do. No-complies in general really. They have a "flow" where you just kinda "stop trying and let it happen."
Hey Jonny: love the channel watch all the time. It occurs to me that if you did that trick back to back to back, switch then normal than switch, etc...it would look like you were walking with the board flying under your feet. I don't skate anymore, so I can't try it myself. But I believe in you... can't wait to see the Giger no comply
Could you make a 3 shuv tutorial? I personally find your videos the easiest to watch with your style. I think it's just super easy to learn from your tutorials and just really helpful. :)
Hey Jonny. Thanks for this! I learnt them some time ago but still appreciate this trick tip and for sure picked up some good pointers as it can take a while to really refine the technique of it. Stoked you did a trick tip for it! Danke sehr und guten tag! Duncan.
I cant wait to try this after my acl heals in about 8 months :( (I'm so struggling not having my daily skate days man but u will keep me busy rewatching all your vids tho 😅)
i tried with loose trucks. its scary af seems like when stepping off and turning the board its gonna come up and hit me in the shin. also stepping offfrom the middle of the board seems really scary because the weight then is shifted to the back powering the nasty shinner...
I have never learnt how to jump with the other foot before the back one landed. I have the step off and rotation part on lock but my brain does not allow the front foot to leave the ground. Could not do it 20 years ago, still cannot do it now. It is a mind fuck. Same with normal straight nocomplys. Is my brain damaged doc?
When I try to pop / shuv the board it goes too much forward. Even when I'm stationary. I can't seem to shuv it under me like you do... I must be doing something wrong :D
I've been skating for 15 year, I can do switch back tail, kickflip backtail, switch heel manny, switch and regular tre flips, and still for some reason I cannot do a no-comply 180. It gives me so much trouble and I can hardly land any. I understand how to do it, and I've practiced it, but it does not come easy for me at all. I don't know why. Hardest trick ever.
Hello all While I enjoyed the video I'm stuck with picking up my board "like Jonny Giger". A quick search on YT gives me some "5 or 10 coolest way to pick up your board" but before being cool I just want to be able to pick up the board... I tried today and the best way I found is to do a kind of "Ollie pick up" which is definitly not what we see at 1:10 Any ideas please ?
Hey Mr Giger what about a straight no comply. Or no comply Ollie I guess you could call it. I always have trouble keeping the board or my body straight after the 'pop'. Fs no comply is always so much more natural feeling then just no comply Ollie. Any ideas?
I want to believe in myself as much as Jonny believes in me.
fr brah skating like 90 percent mental
So true
This trick is so much harder than Jonny makes it seem 😂 Tried it yesterday, and even stepping off the board while moving is so strange! haha
I agree with you. For me its easier to land some (low and Rocket) kickflips than to figure out and get decent and solid no complies.
Agreed lol I'm trying this right now and I can get the pop, have my back foot follow it, and get back on but stepping off / doing it like while is hard af
Agree feels strange and hard
If any of you are still struggling, I've found just getting lower at the start helps with with it. Springing up makes the weight shift feel smoother
When you first tried to do it just stay still but when you get better at it you can have some speed
I used to skate 20 years ago and the more I watch your videos, the more I was driven to go back skating.
And I've been back to skating for 2 months since, having a blast!
Thank you Jonny for sparking my fire for skating again!
same here 😁
dude, are you still going strong?
Yeah, we're all motivated until the first one hits us just under the kneecap...
watching ray barbee on public domain as a kid convinced me that no comply was the ultimate flat ground trick. and matt hensley in shackle me not as well. but yeah this was so awesome!
Yeah, I totally remember that as well. After these two videos, everybody was into doing all types of variations of No Complies.

Great comment, agreed! I love the backside version - in case it helps, I keep by back toe right near the toe edge to keep the board level...have fun!

Landed this trick couple of months ago after watching this vid, the breaking down of practice steps works wonders!
What clicked for me was thinking of it as a jump more than just stepping off. Combining the step and pop was way more natural to me
No complys have always been a favorite of mine. What a rad trick.

Sweet trick tip Jonny! I’ve landed a few no comply 180s but never get em consistent. Gonna go out and practice!
Only in Switzerland can you find skateparks with a gorgeous view of snow-capped mountains. My skatepark has a great view of the freeway...

Thanks
Thanks Jonny, this vid has me hyped to try this soon! Been noticing it more in other skate vids and have really become enamored with it.

Why are No Complies not allowed at the Berics Battles?
You usually aren’t allowed to touch the ground in games of skate.

Back in the day that was called a "43". Ask Tommy Guerrero. I think I remember Ray Barbee calling them that too.
