I’m new to scenic painting and I’m trying to figure out the best product for giving a mid sheen finish to faux wood grain to make it look like older, more expensive furniture. What would you suggest?
There are a lot of different sealers you can use that work great, the biggest difference in them is really the durability. If it doesn't need anything super special for being roughly handled, I usually like the Varathane brand water-based polyurethane. It comes in a blue and white label. It seems you'll want a satin sheen, or semi-gloss.
Thank you so much for your reply, this is exactly what I need. Kept going around in circles with what would be best and this sounds right. Thank you and great video!
I used this technique on a cheap cabinet that we are using for a prop. No one at practice tonight realized it wasn't real wood. Thank you!
Absolutely amazing
It looks great!
Looks pretty good even from here,me looking through your camera.
