  • Oak Trees are living legends, they have been common in Britain for the last 12,000 years, since the last ice-age. Living to be up to a 1,000 years old it is no wonder that they have so much folklore and so may beliefs attached to them.
Interspersed throughout you will find ancient deities, Kings, Faeries, Lightning and weather forecasting alongside little known food sources and how to fix sore pads on your dog's paws.

Here is a wonderful prayer to Trees by the great poet Jagannaatha PaNDita:
    धत्ते भरं कुसुमपत्र फलावलीनां
    घर्मव्यथां शीतभवां रुजां च /
    यो देहामर्पयति चान्यसुखस्य हेतोः
    तस्मै वदान्य गुरवे तरवे नमस्ते //
    dhattē bharaṁ kusumapatra phalāvalīnāṁ
    gharmavyathāṁ śītabhavāṁ rujāṁ ca /
    yō dēhāmarpayati chānyasukhasya hētōḥ
tasmai vadānya guravē taravē namastē //
I bow my head to worship the wonderfully compassionate Guru, the TREE, who bears the weight of flowers and fruits and leaves for the benefit of others, who suffers from the burdens of a hot summer and the chills of a cold winter for the sake of others, and who even gives up HER or HIS own body for the benefit of others.

Wonderful, thank you so much Chris.
I love all trees but Oak always have a special place and I’ve always been lucky to have found a sapling growing, close by, sometimes not in such a good place so it’s been moved to a roomier location. xx

We don't have many oaks in Australia, but my grandpa had one in his front yard growing not far from the ocean.I was very young and called it Thor tree ,I'd never heard of the Gods before, only after getting older I realised how weird that was.
