Hi Sithija. I love your channel, man. This is like a rare preview of my potential future PhD life at Cornell. Can I ask you about the graduate courses you've taken? And those you plan on taking too. Did you take measure theory? oh, sorry to see the truck accident. hope the insurance company will take care of it for you soon.
Hey Tio! Good to hear from you again. It's been a minute. As far as graduate courses go, these are the exact courses I've taken: (All are grad level) Prob 1 & 2, Math Stat 1 & 2, Stat Computing, Stat Consulting 1, Linear Models, Understanding ML, Causal Inf. and ML, I plan on taking another prob course as review and Consulting 2. Not sure about other courses yet :) Thanks about the truck, insurance is taking care of it so it's all good! Good luck
@@sithijamanage Thanks for letting me know, Sithija. I am currently taking a course in advanced probability. It is dense and tough! Hopefully it'll prepare me well for grad level Prob and Stat classes. Keep up the good work at school and on TH-cam. All the best!
@@sithijamanage what math classes do you think are the most important for success in a PhD? Idk if you have a video talking about more specific PhD stats related things or not already
Hi Gaurav, thanks so much for watching. A Masters in Statistics or Mathematics is not required for PhD in statistics. However, from what I can tell, it is pretty helpful for international students. For reference, about half of my cohort has completed a Master's degree. Hope that helps! Good luck
Hi Prabhathiya. I think it depends on the program. However, I would guess that most do not because the ones that I am familiar with (Math, Applied Math, Stat) only have Fall intake. Good luck ayye
Hey!! I'm currently in my last year of masters and thinking of applying in phd program (soil and crop sciences) at Cornell. Can you please tell me about tution charges and do all phd students get the stipend?
Hey Raahat, awesome. If you are accepted to the PhD program, you should not have to pay any tuition. The graduate program (I am 99% sure) will cover your tuition and give you a stipend to cover expenses. You will just need to do the teaching assistantship work they set up for you. That is how it works for statistics. According to this website, Agriculture PhD students at Cornell are fully-funded: fellowshipbard.com/degree-programs/fully-funded-phd-in-agricultural-sciences-at-cornell-university/#:~:text=Tuition%20Coverage%3A%20Cornell%20often%20covers,the%20stipend%20is%20approximately%20%2430%2C000. Good luck!

@@prod.kashkari3075 I think hands down, the most important is real analysis. Top 2 are Real Analysis and then a good Math Stat Sequence.
Man, I miss that truck ;(
I miss Blitz 🛻 :/
very epic
Thank you 🎉
Is Master in Statistics required for PhD Statistics or even we take it with Master in Mathematics?
