musically most superior band in the history of american hardcore
I was at this show. RKL was one of my favorites back in the late 80's. Iwas so lucky when a friend told me of their gig, I never thought it would be a last one. Unfortunately dozens of my friends went out like Jason do to Hard Drugs. I'm glad I got out in time. RIP Jason
Fuckin Tight! I too Love RKL been a fan since the mid 80s! No doubt one of the best bands ever! Damn we're getting old! RIP jason n bomber!
This should be the recognized as a treasure thank you
I will always regret that I never got to see them live.
Rad Skanking Skateboarder I feel ya
Saw them in '87 at Gilman Street Berkeley...I had no idea what I was in for...epic.
I'm so glad I did, and I'm glad I got to see OPIV live (3 times) lol....
Same. Bomer and Jason both passed when I was just 15 and on the other side of the country.
Same would have been a kick ass show
Jason is completely wasted and he nails every song almost perfectly. Legend.
Yaaay. Awesome. Most underrated Band ever. We had great times with those guys in the 80es. RIP Jason.
I saw RKL many times in the 80s. I love that band RIP
Amazing. I wish I'd been able to see them live! RIP to one of the greatest punk bands of all time.
Boz is an old friend of mine from Oregon. We used to listen to RKL together back in 85'!
He's a nice guy .. sick drummer.
All this time I thought it was Bomer, now I look obviously it isn't, haha
He’s an incredible drummer
Best band of all times!
definatly for me best band ever, best record of all my collection is RKL double-LP live in Berlin `88. After listen again all the 80 minutes album, i found this on youtube, still enjoying this great Rock`n Roll Hardcore sound....
Jason sings perfectly. He also looks in shape. Sad i couldnt watch them live in all these years. Luv. Rip Jason, Derrick and Bomer
So sad he really nailed this show they were all so talented
14:17 I love Jason's response to flippin hahaha
19:40 Jason's smile after singing that line in a deeper voice for fun haha
Bomer and Derrick were amazing with RKL but credit where credit is due Boz is fuc*ing killing it on drums very impressive.
One of the best bands of all time!!
one of the best bands ever. i was lucky to see them live in 2004 in Santa Barbara. i flew in with a friend from Germany. We interviewed Jason before the show. during the Show i had a dictaphone in one Hand and a drink in the other Hand. I got knocked down hard several times by some violent guys. It was Incredible- but i couldnt move for two days :)
I still have my Malt Soda Bash T-shirt! Was a great show! Miss these guys 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Seriously tight. This bad should have achieved NOFX status at least. Fat Mike said there would be no NOFX without RKL. Drugs SUCK. RIP Jason...RIP Bomer.
jason said that quite a few bands have claimed RKL as influence, but as they were coming back no fucker wanted RKL to play at their shows - except NOFX! RIP Jason, RIP Bomer, Derrick too ofc
@@owenpaullucas6882 I only got to see them once at the Country Club.
Did you see them?
I saw them at the Pound in San Francisco 2004 . I was in the back courtyard smoking and I saw this chick leaning on a wall and she was like super drunk. I hung out with her and she sobered up a bit. Turns out her and her friends were friends of RKL. She introduced me to the singer Jason in between songs. He was like, uh "hi"? Haha. Much respect to RKL
I was at this show with my pal and it was the last time I got to see RKL before "the end". Thank you for posting this!
this version of betrayed.... soooo good when the riff kicks in.. so heavy
Oh man so sad! They end with that song! Damn so inappropriately appropriate! Heartbreaking! RIP RKL! WHY!
You are so right
Ha RKL my #1 fav. Seen 'm twice. My band Monster Truck Driver played w / China White when they were on tour in Seattle.
RKL la mejor banda de Punk que e escuchado.. Feelings Of Hate
8:27 Sargasm
14:33 Give it up
44:07 Beautiful Feeling pt. 3
48:52 Rancho Burger
57:53 Betrayed
1:02:08 Why
Fkn awesome....
thank you, my heart is flowing with tears today from losses, and this just is what I needed to see, so thank you....
Only Scooter Buell could have made this happen! Jason was one of the most difficult human beings to work with and yet, at the same time, he was ridiculously loyal to his friends and he loved Scooter like family which explains why he left Epitaph Records for a minor label like Malt Soda (which says why he was the man!)!!! . . . . I miss my crazy old friend! :-(
How was Jason difficult to work with? Just curious. Love his sense of humor, would have loved to meet him. I’ve met Joe a few times and he was incredibly chill and humble. It was cool he was actually engaged in conversation and not just trying to breeze through the interaction
damn, you guys are just playin some rocknroll dude !
Ultimate I had seen Awesome bands Regrettably never seen these guys but limped home Soflo and played this tape my friend Rob Ramy still plays for DRI so I was in the Mix Somehow
still one of the tightest hardcore bands. I remember listening to the EP and being blown away at the engineering that they fit this much noise into slick little slots and it was all juicy. skated many a half pipe to RKL.. wish I got to see them at this stage. and man this has to be the best ive ever seen them hit "find a way". man such pure power and trained rage. god im glad the soundboard engineered grabbed this. much better than the pressed version.. dam
Miss you Jason.
Incredible punk band
SO good....Always!
Pure class san bern CLAS$
Simply the best!
Thank you for video!
Cheers from Croatia :))
I saw them twice I’m so happy I did there the best ever
Boz Rivera on drums
yeahhh!
thank you thank you thank you!!!
Amazing to see this, I am torn, so great to see such a great show that somebody captured, but it is painful to see the state that Jason was in.
Jason and Bomer R.I.P. miss you my brothers
I remember seeing them in Bielefeld/Germany in 1987 or 88. One of the wildest shows I have been to. The crowd in this video seems to be sleeping🙄
Thanks. I wish I could of been there
it's on my brain....scab on my brain!!!
love Jason thanks for this concert full
cheers from Cro! :)
Drummer multi intrumusus I got storys galore Soth Fla Hardcore back in the late 80s
HOLY SHIT THANK YOU PROBABLY ONE OF JASON'S LAST GREAT SHOWS!
These people witnessed one of the greatest bands of all time .
RIP past members Jason Bomer Derrick
amazing!!!!
So good that I came.
what you see is what you get
I heard them on punk'o'rama and didnt like the song, so i never listened to them all these years. I just got into them and they are fuckin awesome. NOFX RKL= best skate punk harcore ever
Exactly ! i also didnt really get Jason's vocals on that song, at the time.. but i moved to santa barbara in 96 where their legend is big.
Great video!!
FUCK YEAH!!!!
I remember when in late 89 at amoeba record store I picked this up and the girl at the counter said f;'"*ck yeah !
Wish I could see these foo’s live
Holy shit, this is GOOD!
I love how these guys would throw in odd time signatures and Jazz Fusion-like guitar work.
Remember going to the record store bought that tape best choice ever all the others around me did not appreciate it but I knew
Went on to work for CCU Framer live top of Haight till late 92 I left cause I was Killing myself the bands I seen Full Moon Saloon The I Beam Warfield ect high point Surfing under the Golden Gate Trippin Balls Who knew 20 years later I would go Crab fishing for Dungeness crabs off San Fran thats a whole nother story
14:10 - You can hear Limo from Scotland and then Fat Mike?
My first perfect punk bend🏆🤪
Yea.
This was im San Fran post quake
barry wrote that one... thanks barry
It sucks how drugs kill a lot of everyone.
I think I hear Joey Cape talkin to Jason right before give it up!!!
That's totally the Caper man! hahahaha! Makes sense... Both of their first bands was with each other. Joey was playing drums I think. They were 12! so knowing all this back story between the two bands etc. lyrics for lagwagon and RKL at given time periods makes a lot of sense.
Seen a shit ton of killer shows at the pound SF. 🔥
One of the greatest rock bands of the 80's! I can't imagine how much better they may have been without all the drug abuse. Such a waste.
Rip bomber and Jason
Fuckin' impressive
Oh my god :( its very sad to see Jason all covered up in clothes...
Ooh Jason you holding up there at Beautiful Feeling #3?
Who else can play like that?
Respect Skinny Puppy who was new at that time and BomB who I thought was unerated post Primus
Shits good
World's Greatest Hardcore Band period.
lucky i go to see them live and from the first note, the place exploded.
The bands in the air, the crowds in the air and Jason is in the middle
of a maelstrom.
Travesty that more people know those crappy pop punk groups of the 90s and they became millionaires while RKL was mostly unknown.
Best shit in the fuckin world !
Jason was rad
everyone but goddamnit.... even if he didnt try he was better
Just when you're going to see Fang, China White and RKL playing at the same show again?
You want a singer... I'm in.. lmk
I like the how ironic the band name is. Rich people really only pop pills or snort coke. Lsd is supposed to liberate the mind, and rich people are corporate slate holders. Rebellion against parents? The music is kick ass too.
you can't truthfully say "rich people really only pop pills or snort coke".. in Beverly Hills, La Jolla, Santa Barbara etc. i've seen rich people do any drug.
pibbles i thought it was ironic, because some rich people are sellouts and don't want people to liberate their minds, and LSD does just that. you might be a chill rich person, but it doesn't mean others are.
Daniel Simon i feel you
Hahahaha Daniel.
Cat Manes I know right especially since one of their albums is named Riches to Rags
@13:00 anyone else reminded of early RHCP + Spice Girls - Wannabe.
Fuck man this tight like tigerrrrrr...
Jason had the world by the balls that's why he was testing fate
It doubled me
Is that Jerry A from Poison Idea in the crowd?
Yeah thats Jerry a. from Poison Idea his side project 'the illegitimate fuckskids' were the very first opening band that night and it was their first live show ever! They only had 4 songs but they played each song 3 times and ended their set after Jerry chugged a fifth of Evan Williams in 2 gulps and chased it with another fifth of Evan Williams! Then he tried to crowd surf and broke a rib!! Epic night for sure! R.I.P Jason, Bomer, and Tom Robert's aka Pig Champion!
fucking sick!!
Joe Raposo going nuts on the bass...
Im gonna leave it its appropriate
I got a book me self thanks
f**ing more brilliant than me :)
Baddest Bass lines in Punk hands down
Puta que pariu! What a show it was ...
the lead singer died in t.j from a heroin overdose is that true ?
+elserpent no he was receiving treatment there with ibogaine, which is an illegal
substance in the US. Not sure but I think it was already too late..
sucks eh
Hrvo182 yeah it does suck I seen them live twice in long beach they are a very talented band he will be missed
It probably would have happened anyway, In 2006, Sears died in a detoxification clinic in Tijuana, Mexico, of pulmonary thrombosis unrelated to the treatment. According to Mexican authorities he had been suffering from serious skin abscesses and an infection. He was being treated for addiction with ibogaine, a psychoactive compound with anti-addictive properties that is illegal in the U.S.
so he didn't die from the ibogaine? I know you can die from it, but it's not that common to especially when you're in a medical clinic being monitored
TomatoShips no he was suppose to take another additional substance along with the ibogaine but he refused to. that's what I remember reading
voihan vittu .band is like 95´s,expect mike tysons son drummer and none like jason.world greatest bass forever !.semi-viking finland
who's on drums? is that bomer, raun, or plourde?
+Harry Pinkeater it's Boz Rivera
+Hrvo182 nice ty
Harry Pinkeater
uhm no, it's actually Boz Rivera.. Jason says so in the video..
+Hrvo182 I didn't say nice try. I said nice thank you.
Harry Pinkeater looool sorry man.. my bad :P
Where the fuck is the hero with the timecode?
