1946 Fairchild 24R - 1st Flight In Over 30 Years!

After months of work, EAA Chapter 838's 1946 Fairchild 24R soars above Racine, Wisconsin for the first time in over 30 years!!

I am the proud owner of this beautiful bird! I spoke with Jason this morning and he congratulated me on buying a great piece of flying history. I want to thank him and all the guys at the EAA up there in Racine, Gregory @ Southwind Aviation, Howard and Pat @ Sunshine Aircraft and all they had done to get her back in the skies! The plan is to ferry her down to Tampa and hopefully post some videos of that flight here on TH-cam for everyone to enjoy!

You are a lucky man. As much as I love the old radials I would not trust them for those long cross country flights. The ranger was built for going anywhere and back.

Beautiful airplane. I was the fortunate owner F24r 81361 during the 70s. It was by far the most comfortable airplane I ever owned. The Ranger was upgraded to 200 hp.
