That's ME. I had no idea who Machine Gun Kelly was. I watched Bird Box and saw this hot blonde dude with tattoos and thought nothing really of it. Someone told me he was in the movie and then when he came on screen they told me which character he was. I looked up his music out of pure curiosity, not expecting anything special and listened to this song. this song hits me personally, because after years of physical, emotional, and mental self abuse and abusing several harsh substances over several years I feel torn in pieces. I wanna change and move forward but I always drag myself back to those bad habits, habits that I knew weren't 'productive' or 'helpful' for my own development but I still told myself it was helping. And Im speaking as if Im through that era of my life but Im not. I wake up and smoke, drink, whatever I can find to 'help me get my bearings'. And then I tell myself how sad of a person I am. The video also hits me because when I do get close to sobriety, and I get to the point where my back is completely turned from drugs and alcohol, I get that feeling of something within me is pulling me back. The demons we like to talk about, mostly in the metaphorical sense, can often manifest and take physical action. I literally have to grab my own hand and tell my self no, before collapsing into depression and eventually giving into the drugs or alcohol anyway. this song hits me personally, because after years of physical, emotional, and mental self abuse and abusing several harsh substances over several years I feel torn in pieces. I wanna change and move forward but I always drag myself back to those bad habits, habits that I knew weren't 'productive' or 'helpful' for my own development but I still told myself it was helping. And Im speaking as if Im through that era of my life but Im not. I wake up and smoke, drink, whatever I can find to 'help me get my bearings'. And then I tell myself how sad of a person I am.
The video also hits me because when I do get close to sobriety, and I get to the point where my back is completely turned from drugs and alcohol, I get that feeling of something within me is pulling me back. The demons we like to talk about, mostly in the metaphorical sense, can often manifest and take physical action. I literally have to grab my own hand and tell my self no, before collapsing into depression and eventually giving into the drugs or alcohol anyway.
