It's always so helpful when you include the literal translations of expressions. It helps you to learn to think in the language which is more fun than saying expressions without knowing what the words mean.
I was working at a hospital that cares for a mostly Hispanic community. At that time I barely knew any Spanish and I had a pretty young latina come in to have her MRI performed by me. My translator left after I got my history. Halfway through the test she had to get out and she seemed to be sweating. This is normal because my machine will heat patients up, up to two degrees. I wanted to reassure her that it is normal to have this happen. So I asked her¿Estás Caliente? Then proceeded to explain “A veces mi machina puede te haces estar Caliente.” She gave me a sheepish look and chuckled. I was very confused by this until years later I was attempting to learn Spanish and suddenly the interaction made allot more sense. 😅

En Cuba "coger" es una palabra completamente normal que significa "to take", asi de maravilloso y variado es nuestro idioma que incluso entre hablantes nativos es un reto comunicarse adecuadamente debido a todas las variantes. Ya sabia el significado en Venezuela (creo que al menos en Argentina significa lo mismo) pero igual fue divertido, muchos cubanos cuando van a Venezuela chocan con eso...saludos, muy buen video, muy ameno.

Es perfectamente válido usarlo en un contexto de felicidad o apasionamiento por algo que se está anticipando, como en este caso el ejemplo de estar "excited" por ir a la playa. Del mismo modo, traducir automáticamente ese apasionamiento como "emoción" o "estar emocionado" puede ser un eufemismo para dar a entender que se está llorando. Por eso, no conviene pasarse de rígido con las interpretaciones.
Completamente de acuerdo. No se pueden capar los significados de un verbo de esa forma. Excitar es el verbo correcto para indicar que alguién está nervioso. Me parece bien que se avise de que una de las acepciones tiene que ver con la excitación sexual, pero vamos se puede utilizar con otros significados en mil contextos diferentes, la excitación ante una pelea, ante un reto, ante un peligro, ante una aventura, un viaje, etc...

A Spanish language teacher that I know told me that another thing that could sound sexual mainly for south american people. If you want to say that you want to take or grab something, in spanish you can use the verb "coger" (for example "coger el coche" which means "to take the car"). But, "coger" could be misleading because it looks very similar to another verb: "cojer" (to have sex). To avoid confusion, since in spanish G and J have a similar sound, you use the verb "tomar".

I find the “false friend” of English “embarrassed” meaning “pregnant” rather amusing. I first saw it in a multilingual sign in medical facilities: tell the doctor “si está embarazada.” So what word is used in Spanish if you are actually in a mental state of embarrassment, but not gestating a child?

Si dices "tengo pena" aquí, significa "estoy triste" o "estoy afligido/a". "Excitado" is also to be a little out of your mind, unable to think correctly and reacting too fast. In phisics you use excitado in the same way as excited, related to impulsing or making some electric change in an object. In some cases you may say "está caliente" of a person when he/she has a fever, but be careful of the context.

That reminds me of two youtubers who collaborated. He is Mexican and she is Spanish, they were playing Minecraft and streaming. And while they were playing, eating this hilarious talk: She: ¡Mira! ¡Has cogido al cerdo! He: ¡¿Qué yo qué..?! 😳 She: Que has cogido al cerdo, no puedo pasar. He: No, yo no me he cogido a nadie. She: ¿Qué? He: agarre al cerdo, no me lo... eso. She: Macho, no entiendo. Tienes cogido al cerdo, lo estoy viendo. He: No, yo estoy tomando al cerdo. I've made these mistakes and a few. 'Leche' is one... And constantly confusing Pollo/Polla is another (embarrassing in the supermarket when asking your boyfriend what he wants for supper!). At least my Spanish speaking friends find it funny 🤣
We absolutely do because it happens so often that we are used to it and even native speakers make mistakes like this by using words normal to them but vulgar in another country :-)

5:27 - Funny, if you say "pelota" in Portugal, when trying to refer to a ball, you'll get the same look from us as you do to your american friends because "pelota" in Portuguese means naked. 😂
In Spain we say "estar en pelotas" which means to be naked, too. We also have the expression "en pelota picada" to say the same. Though, "hacer la pelota" means to flatter.
The Puerto Ricans I knew in New York used to say "coge la guagua" to mean take the bus. Someone from Colombia told me that "caliente" means hot and "calioso" means horny. And then there's the double meaning of "bollo", which seems innocently to mean a roll (like from a bakery). I typed "cabrón" into an online translator and it answered imbecile, but I was once told it has a very specific meaning to some: A man whose wife is having an affair with another man, and he knows it, but does nothing.
In English there is just as much, maybe even more, double meaning word play than in Spanish. This double meaning word play is used in all aspects of life, even in the professional, especially political setting. You can even hear it in songs that were written over a hundred years ago in English.

Puedes hablar del clima con "está caliente" si lo que quieres decir es algo como: (el día) está caliente. (El país) está caliente. (Aquí) está caliente. Yo estoy aprendiendo Ingles y me pasaba al reves. No queria decir 'I'm excited' por miedo a que pensaran mal. O decir, It's too hot. Seria interesante mas bien saber que palabras No podemos decir en Ingles que para nosotros no signifcan nada sexual y para ellos si. En Mexico hubo un tiempo que podias decir 'coger' y no era tan malo. Pero ahora coger, recoger son palabras que la gente siempre lo toma en otro contexto. Aun asi, nosotros nunca hemos usado la frase 'cogeme aqui' para decir que me ayudes con algo. Solo decimos, hey ayudame con esto. Tampoco decimos 'cogeme que me caigo', solo 'agarrame', 'ayudame'. La palabra coger en forma sexual se usa mas como: 'vamos a coger', 'quiero coger', 'el no coge hace mucho'. Casi no se usa para decir que vas a agarrar algo: voy a coger la mesa, porque ademas no tendria sentido tener sexo con la mesa, jajajaja.
"balon" es común -- se usa en Pepa Pig traducida en español. No usa "bola" nunca. En Harry Potter se usa balon, bola y pelota porque quidditch tiene demasiadas tipas de pelota.
Whereas "Emocionada" is too much of a drama in other places... "Exited" is better said "Entusiasmada!" or "contenta". Emocionada sounds as if you would say "emocional" and that is a little over the top even in Spanish... weather is never "caliente", weather is "caluroso' and if it is conjugated with a pronoun it would be "estoy acalorada"....pffff, take this because I can't hold it equals "toma esto que no me lo puedo"... well, better just speak freely and we help you on the way. Everybody makes mistakes, and people should keep their heads out of the gutter anyway.

I think u mean testículos. Means the same. Testículo is more formal or "correct" way to say that body part. Huevo is normally used in an informal way . i dont know if u mean that😓😓

I find the “false friend” of English “embarrassed” meaning “pregnant” rather amusing. I first saw it in a multilingual sign in medical facilities: tell the doctor “si está embarazada.” So what word is used in Spanish if you are actually in a mental state of embarrassment, but not gestating a child?

You could use "Tengo vergüenza" as to literally mean "I'm embarrased", in a very neutral way. The word "vergüenza" alone means "embarrasment".

"Excitado" is also to be a little out of your mind, unable to think correctly and reacting too fast. In phisics you use excitado in the same way as excited, related to impulsing or making some electric change in an object.
In some cases you may say "está caliente" of a person when he/she has a fever, but be careful of the context.

Usualmente uso "tomar" para evitar esto.
Para mi amiga, "quiero coger un taxi" significa "I want to take a taxi", pero para ti probablemente significa "I want to f*** a taxi" 🤣🤣.

'Leche' is one... And constantly confusing Pollo/Polla is another (embarrassing in the supermarket when asking your boyfriend what he wants for supper!).
At least my Spanish speaking friends find it funny 🤣
We absolutely do because it happens so often that we are used to it and even native speakers make mistakes like this by using words normal to them but vulgar in another country :-)

In Portuguese the word "excitada" has the same meaning as in Spanish.
The word can be used in both ways. With the spanish meaning or wirh the english meaning.
It depends on the context
Italian too, emozionato (excited) vs eccitato (horny)

No obstante, considero que el verbo coger a pesar de tener doble significado, se usa mucho en Espana y muchos paises hispanos. En mi pais coger se usa mas que agarrar o aguantar. Me parece que mas bien se trata del contexto de la oracion o frase. Si en Mexico y otros paises de habla hispana tienen inconvenientes lascivos con el verbo coger, en muchos paises de habla hispana el verbo coger es muy usado. Con el unico significado que deberia tener, agarrar o tomar cosas.

In the song "Rico Suave," does "rico" mean rich, or hot, or is it ambiguous?
More like "delicioso", "sabroso" = "delicious", "tasty". Rico is also used when you are talking about food.
The Puerto Ricans I knew in New York used to say "coge la guagua" to mean take the bus. Someone from Colombia told me that "caliente" means hot and "calioso" means horny. And then there's the double meaning of "bollo", which seems innocently to mean a roll (like from a bakery). I typed "cabrón" into an online translator and it answered imbecile, but I was once told it has a very specific meaning to some: A man whose wife is having an affair with another man, and he knows it, but does nothing.
In English there is just as much, maybe even more, double meaning word play than in Spanish. This double meaning word play is used in all aspects of life, even in the professional, especially political setting. You can even hear it in songs that were written over a hundred years ago in English.

Yo estoy aprendiendo Ingles y me pasaba al reves. No queria decir 'I'm excited' por miedo a que pensaran mal. O decir, It's too hot. Seria interesante mas bien saber que palabras No podemos decir en Ingles que para nosotros no signifcan nada sexual y para ellos si. En Mexico hubo un tiempo que podias decir 'coger' y no era tan malo. Pero ahora coger, recoger son palabras que la gente siempre lo toma en otro contexto. Aun asi, nosotros nunca hemos usado la frase 'cogeme aqui' para decir que me ayudes con algo. Solo decimos, hey ayudame con esto. Tampoco decimos 'cogeme que me caigo', solo 'agarrame', 'ayudame'. La palabra coger en forma sexual se usa mas como: 'vamos a coger', 'quiero coger', 'el no coge hace mucho'. Casi no se usa para decir que vas a agarrar algo: voy a coger la mesa, porque ademas no tendria sentido tener sexo con la mesa, jajajaja.

"balon" es común -- se usa en Pepa Pig traducida en español. No usa "bola" nunca. En Harry Potter se usa balon, bola y pelota porque quidditch tiene demasiadas tipas de pelota.
Whereas "Emocionada" is too much of a drama in other places... "Exited" is better said "Entusiasmada!" or "contenta". Emocionada sounds as if you would say "emocional" and that is a little over the top even in Spanish... weather is never "caliente", weather is "caluroso' and if it is conjugated with a pronoun it would be "estoy acalorada"....pffff, take this because I can't hold it equals "toma esto que no me lo puedo"... well, better just speak freely and we help you on the way. Everybody makes mistakes, and people should keep their heads out of the gutter anyway.
