It isn't. The pen experience on any and all surface products == abysmal. Too much line jitter. If you're looking for the Pro aspect of either a Surface or an iPad, the Surface is not for you.
It probably is. While the Qualcomm chip limits compatibility with some programs, it should still have much more professional software available for it. The iPad pro is good just for 120hz display and nothing else. Also the statements regarding the surface pen given by another commenter is a straight out lie as I've seen used it before and it is definitely better than apple pencil.
Ive been using my Surface Pro 4 and it still holds up fine today. I use it as my main PC. I'm a professional videographer/graphic designer and music producer on the side and its able to handle all of that no problem. I use a $10 bluetooth keyboard that works much better than the keyboard they sell with it. Also use a $10 bluetooth mouse. (make sure its bluetooth and NOT wireless) It sits on my desk and I have it connected to 2 external monitors so Im not looking at the tiny screen. Half the time I forget its the surface for me its just my regular computer. Then when i want to go to someones studio for music or take it with me on my shoots its just grab and go. Ive dropped mine several times with no protection and there was no damage. I can only Imagine the Pro X would be what I've experienced only better. The charger sucks though and had to get it replaced twice.

Maybe you bought the 32 bit Surface pro? They came in multiple version some couldnt handle 64. 32 bit version arent even supported with my Surface. I just verified on their website to make sure I wasnt crazy. I can ONLY run 64-bit so what are yo getting at?

I sold mine MacBook Air a while ago. Bought Surface Pro 6 and I love it! It'a perfect for taking notes prepare for exams etc. I highly recommend it to everyone who uses it for educational purposes.

I'm so sad to see Microsoft nailing the device specs-wise but failing to address the real issues since the start. The alcantara wears after sometime and starts looking pathetic. The OS still isn't optimized for touch (running youtube is a pain), the app store is still trash and the "2-in-1 device" form factor is more of a hassle than a ground breaking step. Been using the Surface pro 4 for 3 years now and i'm finally moving to a macbook soon. (have to say the build quality of the device itself is great, the pen concept is very intuitive and the hinge in indeed extraordinary)

I've been using the Microsoft Surface Pro since 2015, and I'm still happy with it. I used it as my work "laptop" for college and It out-performed my Macbook Pro 2012 that I was using previously for school work.
Unbox Therapy, I am a long term user of surface products. I just wanted to say that probably the best typing experience comes when the keyboard is not flat, but rather slightly up, attached to the computer magnetically. This way, it is a very pleasant typing experience, in my opinion, much better then most of the laptops.
I've got to say it. The lenovo L380 yoga is about the same dimentions, has an internally stored and charged pen, and can be used as a laptop without using a board to hold up the kickstand to keep it from falling over on your lap
after you checked the speakers your voice felt softer than the speakers and i had to turn up the volume because of the difference, nice speakers for a tablet/lapton😳. i loved the review and overall a very great upgrade to previous surfaces

I bought the Pro 6 Surface in Feb and I love it. Powerful, quick and its small and light. Perfect for taking to meeting's etc. I believe Microsoft are doing trade in's if you want to move to the Surface X too.

@@chrisnj2000 basically 64bit apps don't run on it, and 32bit apps written for x86 processor are emulated, so they are slow. Only ARM processor optimised apps run well, but that won't be your Adobe suite anytime soon, besides Fresco maybe.

Unless Microsoft have upgraded the charger by raising the total Watt of the power supply. Charging any phone over 1A while charging the computer results in neither of them charging... Also attempt sitting with the Surface Pro on your lap. Gave problems with some buttons and especially the track-pad on Surface Pro 3. Furthermore by throwing the Surface Pro 3 quickly into you're bag several times on the fly. The leather on the keyboards will tear up. Had the laptop for over 5 years as daily driver. Served very well but began to get slower and hotter as times goes because the 30 mm fan is too small. Finally switched to X1 Extreme from Lenovo because of you're recommendation. (Psst. Totally worth it by the way)
As an artist and designer I love the surface pros. The only issue I have is that any artist that does any real work on these things, is going to have *to rest their drawing hand on the screen* . *The problem? The hinge on the stand of ALL surface pros, can't take the weight of your hand resting on the surface while you draw, and it forcibly leans all the way down (which is actually really uncomfortable for drawing)* How Microsoft hasn't fixed this obvious problem, present since practically the invention of Surface Pros, is beyond me. If you have a Surface Pro, your best bet is buying a third party case, that's how I fixed this problem. I found a case that has it's own stand, and can support my hand and wrist while I draw on the tablet at a comfortable angle.
At least it prevents it from flexing. But for any serious productivity this thing just ain't it. Professionals are way better off buying a ThinkPad T series laptop or something similar. I owned a hybrid once (Asus Transformer) and ended up using it as a laptop only which it basically sucked at. That was the first and last hybrid I will ever own.
Man, I love this! I hope ARM chips and the fidelity of mobile chip technology get in the windows PC business real quick. I am frustrated with the high power consumption and massive heating issues of traditional laptops.
My big problem with the otherwise very nice feeling of the fabric surface, is that on my pro 3 after many years of use now the bottom right where my hand sits is a mess. Instead of the classic whitening of the color you get on a plastic or metal body, this is just like a torn fabric now...
The hardware is good... The software support is total garbage. It uses emulation to run 32 bit programs. 64 bit programs don't run at all. It has only a tiny handful of programs that run natively on ARM.
Watching this gave me flashbacks of my Surface 3 2015. Hated it. The blue-booth connection with the keyboard always disconnected and I would have to reset the computer to use the keyboard again. Multiple times. Got a regular HP laptop and it’s the best thing ever. Laptop or tablet. Never both at the same time

I think the ARM instruction set compatibility thing is much more of an issue than you let on.

My big problem with the otherwise very nice feeling of the fabric surface, is that on my pro 3 after many years of use now the bottom right where my hand sits is a mess. Instead of the classic whitening of the color you get on a plastic or metal body, this is just like a torn fabric now...

The hardware is good... The software support is total garbage. It uses emulation to run 32 bit programs. 64 bit programs don't run at all. It has only a tiny handful of programs that run natively on ARM.

Watching this gave me flashbacks of my Surface 3 2015. Hated it. The blue-booth connection with the keyboard always disconnected and I would have to reset the computer to use the keyboard again. Multiple times. Got a regular HP laptop and it’s the best thing ever. Laptop or tablet. Never both at the same time
