What did you use for those instruments that hit at 0:04? (really good job BTW)

So the instrumentation is:
Acoustic guitar (both mic'd and recorded through an amp to get that distorted sound)
Then I recorded some Melodica chords, some brass chords and Musical Saw (which is the bit at 0:04)
Then there's just some super distorted bass and electric guitar kicking in + the song ends with some synth and cheap Casio keyboards to get that ambient lo-fi noise stuff from their early tapes/On Avery Island

I never liked NMH and this pretty much encapsulates the experience. It’s a crazy whiny guy with a guitar singing nonsense, which is exactly what they sound like to me.
