Ask us How WeBe Could Be Selling Your Car Too!
This is not a Monterey, this is the base series.
My folks bought a black one when I was a toddler. Traded it in ‘59 for a caddy, also black.
I pried off the coin-sized Mercury man emblem above the glove box. Looks like this one is missing too. Ours had a six, I believe, with a tall, oil bath air filter. I recall being fascinated by how my Mom shifted it.
We saw our old Mercury driving around town for at least 10 years after my folks sold it.

I distinctly recall the engine’s tall air cleaner and my Dad saying it was an oil bath type. Did not look at all like these flat ones I see on YT for eight cylinder engines, therefore I assumed it was a six. I see the Wiki entry confirms what you’re saying about Mercuries having eights.

I was about 4 at the time. Recall many details from my youth. When I was 2-3 my Daddy would carry me on walks and I would name all the car makes and model years. Of course, there weren’t as many as now.
I recall much more about our 59 Caddy.
I stand corrected. Maybe. Before the Mercury we had a ‘50 or ‘51 Chevy. I checked a few videos and saw a tall oil bath filter. So it was possibly that car, not the Mercury. I was three at the time, but recall him explaining how the filter worked. OTOH, I also saw a ‘53 Mercury here with a similar, tall, probably oil bath filter.
Pretty good memory, even though I maybe got the cars confused!

The wide whites and skirts suck.
Why do say that?
@@jamesbosworth4191 Skirts are old man. I grew up back then and they weren't that popular
I had a 53 23 dr. hdtp fort a few years
@@robertsnyder5149 The Monterey came standard with skirts, but they were optional on the base series. Also, whitewalls were almost the full sides of the tire in 1953. The narrow-bands didn't come out until about 62. I grew up back then too. We ARE old men now.
