  • My strategy for studying for the CFA Level 2 exam. This video brought to you by viewers asking in the comments for level 2 specifics. The CFA's vignette style questions need to be practiced to pass! Here is what I did.

    Hey Aj, been following your videos since L1. I was looking through your channel for a video on what your specific study strategy was for L2. I know you mentioned in this video, practice, practice, practice - but before you got to the practice stage, what was your strategy? Were you reading the curriculum books front to back? Were you using MM videos? Were you reading Schweser? Curious if you could drop some tips on how you approached the curriculum (aside from the practice problems). Cheers

      @@straighttalks-ajsrmek323 That would be awesome! I know myself & other candidates would find it highly valuable. I think it would be great to hear what your full approach was (ex; Watched the MM video, went right to the EOCQ solution videos.. took notes, then moved on). I haven't found any charterholders sharing their full L2 experience & approach. It would also be great to hear if there were any topics/readings you found most challenging/easy & how you tackled them. A lot of L2 candidates watching would be able to relate, & it's good foresight for L1 candidates. Looking forward to watching that video! Cheers.

    Currently studying for level 2. Level one was super easy for me considering I read all the CFAI books and practice the mocks. Not sure what level 2 will bring this December, but I will shoot for a 90th percentile score, if this fails, I'll probably end up passing lol.

    Hey man ! I have done my engineering now and very interested to finish CFA course
    I have been investing for 1 ½ year now and I am really interested in equity and investments and want to pursue a career in it.
    Is it good to do CFA now soon after engineering ?
    Or
    Do MBA and then do CFA ?
    I heard from one of your videos that you need to have 48 months of work experience , so is it good like , if I work for 2 years in an equity company and then do MBA and then do CFA while I finish another 2 years ?
    Really confused ! Please help
    Love your channel ❤️

    • @straighttalks-ajsrmek323
      @straighttalks-ajsrmek323  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, even if you pass all 3 CFA exams you still need 48 months of investment related work experience. So if there would be a gap between you passing all 3 exams and getting those 48 months, doing an MBA certainly would not hurt!

    Hey man, hope you good. I was registered for June 2020 level 2 exam, but now I managed to re-register for May 2021 planning to start my studying as from October 2020. I study after hours and on weekends.
    I wanted to know which study topic orders are more good to use. I thought maybe I should firstly start with low weighted areas 5-10%*, ( i.e. Economics, Quantitative Methods, Corporate Finance, Alternative Investments, Derivatives ). Then focus on the larger topics from next January. By doing this I think I can recall the most critical topics unlike studying them now first.
    So please kindly advice me which topic orders are more advantageous. Sorry for the long message, your response will be highly appreciated 🙏😇

      @straighttalks-ajsrmek323  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have talked about this in other videos, but I do not believe that studying in any certain order will help your chances of retaining information. I think just do it in whatever order you are most comfortable!

    • @kabothabana2969
      @kabothabana2969 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the response, highly appreciated. I had a set order Iused before postponement and it was going pretty well, but felt demoralised after June 2020 didn't happen. Anyways,I will definitely work out which order to use before commencing, the most important thing is to understand the topics, application and concepts.

    How would you rate the difficulty of exam questions compared to EOC and practice online questions? For level one I found it easier and at par with EOC , practice online questions were tough. Here level 2 practice online questions are way difficult than EOC questions.

    • @straighttalks-ajsrmek323
      @straighttalks-ajsrmek323  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      EOCs are about equal. Practice questions are harder.

    • @eatyourcarbs
      @eatyourcarbs 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Damn what a relief.. in my experience from level 1 I did exam more or less to be EOC equivalent. Practice questions on website were nuts I got so demotivated today. I will be practising them anyway because I have time but wouldn't stress that much now. Curriculum example and EOC is top priority for me.
      Thank you for your reply.

    I need some advice from someone who has completed level 2: I would like to write level 2 in August 2021 but I have a CA(SA) board exam in April meaning that I will only be able to dedicate 4.5 months to study for it. Is this a sufficient amount of time? I only had 3 weeks to do level 1 and I managed to pass that but I've heard that level 2 is a lot tougher than level 1. Appreciate any feedback/ advice!

    • @straighttalks-ajsrmek323
      @straighttalks-ajsrmek323  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Level 2 is tougher, but not by all that much. If you were able to study enough to pass L1 in 3 weeks then you should be able to pass L2 with 4 months of study.

    Hi, really appreciate all the explanation. This is really helpful! I am currently registering for Level 2, 2021. But I am still debating between when to take it: June/August. Would be really helpful to see your opinion.
    A little background info: I am a final year master student. And next year spring would be my last semester. I anticipate less course work but more work to do on the recruitment front. So really curious to see your thought, as I have seen one people on TH-cam saying he cannot understand why people will take the August Exam. Thank you for reading this long message :)
