Biber was light years ahead of his time. Great performance, where the violin in addition to virtuosity, gives us splendid nuances supported beautifully by the continuo.
Amazing! So much baroque string playing is thin and unremarkable. Augusta's playing is full-throated and brilliantly imaginative. How does she play notes that fast, and still have such rich and resonant tone? And the continuo section sounds like a million bucks. The cellist's subtle swells are perfectly timed to support the violin line. I was astonished when I reached the end of the video and realized this was a live recording and not a massaged studio piece. The audience's enraptured silence and then astonished applause is well-earned.
Biber è stato un grandissimo compositore e, a mio parere, nella musica strumentale è assai moderno in quanto le sue melodie sono semplici, essenziali, asciutte e per questo, senza tempo.
I am stunned by this performance! Augusta plays with such clarity, precision, expression... AND speed! A true delight. Thank you for sharing this quixotic piece from the past!
I think the players that participate in the "Voices of Music" ensemble really have a very good handle on how baroque music is supposed to be interpreted, as eminently displayed here by Augusta's brilliant and elegant performance. In far too many period instrument ensembles, "authentic sound" seems to be more like an excuse for shoddy, bland and unimaginative performances! On the subject of Biber, it would be awesome to hear a performance by Augusta of at least one his "Rosary Sonatas"; the "Crucifixion" is my personal favourite!
Look up the Spanish violinist Lina Tur Bonet. Her performances of the Rosary sonatas are other worldly, almost like she travelled in time from the composer's own time! BIBER. LINA TUR BONET. Rosenkranz Sonate Nº 10. Crucifixion. MUSIca ALcheMIca@@AnHebrewChild
Do you know that you have the best sound on youtube. Production is 🔥🔥🔥 I am super happy 'cause I found your chanel. Your musicians are incredible. Just keep going and keep doing that and never stop 😂 Big support and love from Serbia 🇷🇸 ❤️
Incredible performance! Thank you! Such joy and delight these musicians display in sharing this extraordinary piece! Would love for you to program some Erlebach and perhaps his Trio Sonata in A major and discuss scordatura tuning. Just an idea...
Can’t get enough of 4:30 - for all of Hanneke’s extraordinary qualities, her joy in promoting her fellow players is most endearing.

I always feel Biber sounds difficult to play but the soloist carried it out with aplomb. Superb.
Thank you.
I think she practices 30 hours a day....
Agreed fully . She doesn't need any further certificate. Excellent comment.
7:13 to 10:40 is some of the most beautiful music I've heard in recent memory. Its moments like these that make me understand why clapping is a thing.
Indeed. Those few bars are majestic.
outstanding performance..wonderful..moving..❤..homage to the composer and performers..thank you !
Biber went from obscure composer to my favorite composer for violin, subtly and hauntingly breathtaking pieces.
Augusta is a Goddess for real❤️

Why, oh why, was the music department in my school so under funded? I feel kind of robbed.
a tutto volume che tutti sentano
I assume the four people who gave it a thumbs down are the ones who can't spell Bieber.
Probably looking for Justin...
@@Petroglyph88 Exactly

Cool! I mean hot.
