    Man, AtGames really killed it with this 4K model. Really like what I see, I’m jealous of new ALP owners, haha. But would I sell off my current, modded one? Absolutely not. Looking forward to Part 2!

    I'm kinka new to the virtual pinball world, but am getting excited about this Legends 4k. I'm happy to see many of the upgrades, but I wish they would forego the marquee. My favorite pinball machines usually had one large image on the backglass. The marquee made sense on the Legends Arcade (which I own) because those classic video games had marquees. I would also be more likely to buy this if it's simple & easy to own lots of different classic pinball simulations as I'm not really interested in streaming, memberships, etc. Thanks for the great content.

    My biggest gripe is the dinky 8" DMD. They increased the Backglass size significantly, but in doing so, it makes the DMD look so tiny!!!! I've been using my ALP backbox in OTG as a FullDMD screen and I've got a 15" cheap $80 LCD running on top as the Backbox screen. Much nicer experience for a fraction of the cost. Based on what we're seeing so far, I don't see the 4KP being a justifiable purchase at what I'm guessing will be a ~$1,200+ retail. Certainly not for someone who already has an original ALP. It's concerning that the HD table packs and 4K table packs are not compatible with the opposite devices and makes me wonder why they would bother offering an upgrade kit. Hopefully AtGames does the right thing and grants customers access to both versions of purchased tables so that people who already have a library of tables and then buy the new 4KP don't have to repurchase their entire library. Otherwise this is going to be another controversial scenario like Pinball FX.

With all the mods I've made (vibs-board, haptics upgrade) I'm quite happy with my current version of the ALP for now. But of course, in a few years I will have to buy a new one. And ATGames still has the best virtual pinball machine in this price range.

    Wow, looks like they are going for the DIY market by offering a complete pinball cabinet kit with all the desirable features (options for arcade controls and SSF), 4K playfield, and full DMD.
    For those saying $1,000-$1,250 is overpriced for this, I disagree. A VirtuaPin cabinet kit can run $1,500 before monitors, PC, speakers, exciters, plunger, legs, etc.A complete build around one of those would probably approach $3,000. RecRoomMasters used to offer a pincab kit for about $850, but they haven't reintroduced it to the market yet; and prices on their previous line of arcade cabinets have gone up 25% since 2018 when I bought mine. Even if the ALP 4KP is $1,250, no one else offers a complete kit for that price.
    I only wish that AtGames had bumped up the playfield size to 40" with a 32" backglass and 15" full DMD - like a full-size cabinet kit. Sell that with the AtGames / RockChip motherboard for $1,250-$1,500 and that could almost corner the entire market.
    That said, if I catch a good sale, I am seriously tempted by this!

    If they remove that title marquee, they can have a 10-12" DMD. The 8" is way too small. They don't have to go full 15" DMD (it would be great to go Stern size though), and there are hundreds of beautiful 1080p fulldmds for PC pinball that really need a nice large beautiful DMD display to fully appreciate. There's nothing like them. But at least give us a few more inches! The 8" may look OK with built-in native titles, which is all they likely care about but it would look so much better with just a few more inches but probably too late now to source.

    • @Tamarocker88
      @Tamarocker88 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As usual, one step forward, two steps back. They had the wherewithal to increase the size of the Backglass, but in doing so, made the already small 8" DMD look tiny by comparison. I'll stick to my original ALP with my additional 15" LCD for OTG. Having a matched set of Backglass and FullDMD displays is something I won't downgrade from.

      @WagnersTechTalk  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a beauty!!

    • @Tamarocker88
      @Tamarocker88 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That's a bit of an excessive prediction, no? There's plenty of factors that would lead people to be uninterested. The price point will be key for many. How AtGames chooses to handle access to the new 4K versions of tables will be another critical point. If they tell customers who already own the HD packs that they have to repurchase the same tables because "it's a new 4K version", those customers are not going to be happy about paying twice to play the same tables. This would turn away most of the existing customers who specifically play the built in games. For someone like me who exclusively plays OTG, I'm not interested in the new 4KP based on what we've seen so far. The DMD screen is half the size of the FullDMD screen I'm already running now. A screen that only cost me $80, btw. The 4K resolution of the playfield screen would be nice to have, but I could have already replaced the screen myself if I really wanted to. I'm not seeing enough net positives so far to justify investing over $1k on the new 4KP, even if I sold off my current ALP (I think $1k is a conservative enough price for us to agree it's a safe assumption).

    • @TheForsaken30
      @TheForsaken30 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not necessarily. What the price is can make a difference on if people decide to sell current one. Also. On a 32 inch screen 4k may not be a big enough difference for people to want to buy the new one. And since it seems like OLED and 120hz is off the table, as a whole the difference could be considered marginal.

    • @Tamarocker88
      @Tamarocker88 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheForsaken30 Yeah, even for most people who buy into 4K for the sake of 4K, it's a relatively small improvement all things concerned. What most people fail to consider is that 4K content requires significantly more robust hardware to run at the same frame rates as 1080P (let alone at 120Hz), so I'm expecting built-in tables to struggle (despite the beefier processing power of the new chip). In the likely case it's neither OLED or 120Hz, it's going to be a deal breaker for majority of the hardcore community who use these things for OTG. The investment in the new hardware relative to the benefit will be to the point of diminishing returns. Hell, for a measly $80 you can buy your own 15" Full HD LCD screen for OTG and have identical sized Backglass and FullDMD. Far more enjoyable than using a giant 24" Backglass with a tiny 8" DMD.

    It only makes sense for Atgames to get into the upgrade market. They are losing money to other companies with the bigger back boxes and hardware to upgrade your Playfield. My only question/hope is that running OTG /popper,vpx will be ok with a 60hz screen. If it will lag. I'm waiting for this review before I spend another $1,000 upgrading my play field and back box if this thing turns out to fill all those wishes I have then I'll just sell my original legends pinball and purchase this. I'm guessing $1600. Can't wait.

      If you're talking about OTG, please see Part 3 where it's covered in detail. If you're talking about the 14 stock tables, they play great (no noticeable lag/latency). The Addams Family has some latency and issues that are being worked on and will cover that in a later video, once things have improved.

    Thanks for the review. Only two improvements need to be made. The DMD screen needs to be a 10" display, and the USBs need to be facing the player. But, that's an easy hack. Just run USB extensions to cutouts in the front panel of the backbox. Other than that, I love the design, and wouldn't mine owning it, if I could afford it. I'm guessing it'll retail for around 2K$, or more. Very impressed with the properly scaled up backbox. Finally! They "get" it. LOL :)

    Is head tracking to subtly change the view of the playfield a thing in virtual pinball? I feel like it would be a good way to achieve the illusion of depth without needing 3D glasses or a parallax barrier (like the 3DS used).

      There are several PC-based pinball platforms that support Kinect (Future Pinball, Visual Pinball and Arcooda). Honestly, it's more of a novelty, as your head is pretty stationary most of the time playing a game. Though, on some games that have upper flippers, it's helpful to be able to move a little to the side to get a better angle on them.

    What I'm most curious about... and in my opinion it's the most important thing to fix compared to the HD version.... is if OTG connected to a PC no longer has the large amount of delay / lag like the HD version did. Glad to see they have been listening to feedback on many things though.

    • @dem0man21
      @dem0man21 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep I’m exactly wondering that too. There was so much delay on the HD that it’s just been a paperweight. Well actually I put some towels over it and my cats sleep on it all the time. Levi Astro sleeps on the back box, Kai Jin sleeps on the playfield.

      @@8-bit_Informer 13600k rtx 3080 32gigs ram , nvme 2tb drive. It has something to do with the OTG it adds lag to it. You can get used to it if that’s the only thing you play on. It’s very noticeable compared to running straight to a monitor without the OTG.

    • @Tamarocker88
      @Tamarocker88 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      idk what you're talking about, OTG doesn't have a significant amount of lag unless the connected PC is underpowered, hasn't been optimized, or you needlessly integrate JoyToKey. By configuring controls directly within PinUpPopper and VPX and configuring low-latency mode in the Nvidia control panel, you'll eliminate majority of input lag. Overwhelming sources of delay and lag are on the PC itself and have to do with optimizing the OS and applications.

    • @dem0man21
