Let’s be real, colts are tanking without saying they’re tanking. That’s why Saturday was hired. He and Irsay are friendly and the deal was keep us competitive and team losing to keep draft position in order. Trade off for his efforts is to scout team and potentially “earn” HC job next year.
Props to Doug and Rob for showing professionalism by apparently destroying their stale beef, and doing what they do best. Just giving their perspective opinion about two NFL head coaches, Jeff Saturday, and Nathaniel Hackett who found out the hard way it is not about what they want to be as an HC, you have to know what you are doing. Real Talk Today and Tomorrow.
Agree. It’s sad that true head coaching has been declining. Saturday is simply an interim hire who can let Irsay know who’s worth keeping on the current staff. Hackett is a good man but it’s clear he was in way over his head. So many HCs no longer know how to tell their OCs & DCs what strategy to use in llaycalling nor how to manage a game & drill players on situational football. Michael Lombardi’s GM Shuffle podcast is great at explaining how HCs fail to burn clock when winning or preserve clock when losing. Instead teams hire OC gurus who can’t make adjustments nor coach all three phases & all three teams within the team. Littl things matter so much. Saturday blew a 33 point lead but offense was hiking the ball with over 15 seconds on the play clock. Simply waiting until below 3 seconds to snap the ball would’ve taken over 5 minutes off the clock & made the 33 point comeback mathematically impossible. So much bad coaching out there & seems to be a problem w/teams even identifying the best candidates.
Rob’s right. So many former players were hoping Jeff Saturday would be good so they could try to skip the line too and start with zero experience, as a head coach in the damn NFL!
So you want the Colts to replace the Houston Texans as the worse team in the NFL. Just a genuine curious thought inquiry and opinion on what Jeff Saturday would do if he coached a full season.
Doug 'whataboutism' Gottlieb. Rob should have politely declined as a stance not worthy of addressing. If a qualified Coach fails than it serves as proof positive that the game warrants experience.
Another issue with nfl hiring besides unwillingness to hire minorities, nepotism. The nfl coaching ranks are full of sons and brothers of other coaches. Who was nat Hackett’s father? How many Grudens were head coaches? That is the real problem
Both of these guys are lame duck head coaches. Jeff was a good player, hell, GREAT player. Nathaniel Hackett was a good fit for that situation in Green Bay, he probably could have gotten more out of that receiving core this year if he was still there. It's okay to only be a good coordinator/player/position coach. Some guys never sniff THAT. But the fact that it's blatantly obvious both of these guys were in over their heads is a disrespectful snub to the other folks who deserved a shot because of WORK, and not the "who you know" club. 💯
Didn't Rob say he didn't want the regular season to get to the point where it doesn't matter in the NBA? Bro, it's been that way before they added the play-in.
Jeff started mid season and didn't get a chance to implement his system and culture, not to mention the colts are trash and not a single coach in the NFL could've been successful with them.
That scenario is the entire reason he got the job to begin with. It was a situation where nobody would succeed so it was one that you could make a hire like Saturday. Realistically they expected the team to rank and wanted a way to do that without making it obvious. The Saturday hire was sn easy way to make that happen. And if somehow he did succeed then you’re a genius. It was a win-win for Indy. They never expected to make him the guy after this year. They expected to tsnk and finally get a replacement franchise QB. This was just an easy way to tank without being obvious or if it did work out be a genius for doing it. But even accounting for the low chance he ever had to actually win he hasn’t done the things outside of winning that elevate an interim coach. He hasn’t hired experienced people around him. He hasn’t managed games well. The team isn’t disciplined. The team hasn’t shown any measureable improvement. If those things happened then you could argue him getting more time despite not winning. But the fact none of that has happened there isn’t a good argument to give him the job. He didn’t have a chance to win but if those other things had happened then you can at least argue giving it to him but that didn’t happen.
You give LAMAR JACKSON Justin Herbert Joe burrow Josh Allen team automatic super bowl and you put any of those three on Baltimore Ravens you wouldn't even put them in the mix that's where my honest opinion LAMAR JACKSON is better than all three

Doug with the usual nonsense. A guy who earn his job failing doesn't make Jeff Saturdays hire right or correct in any single way.
Exactly. It’s like whataboutism and false equivalency had a baby

@@lanceinmypants143 except there’s no way in hell he’ll ever get a coaching job after losing the biggest lead in history.
They don’t need to try their QB situation is bad enough to not even have to try. Indy is a QB away from contention.
If u have to hire a coach for time management after week 1 you clearly weren’t prepared to be a head coach.
mf hired a "ask madden" coach 😂
Im surprised rob and doug are talking about a segment since rob blocked doug on twitter 😂😂
I was about to say I didn’t know rob still talked with Doug
Twitter is not real life
They've done a bunch of segments together since then lol, they even addressed the beef at one point
@@FoxSportsRadioOfficial is that you Doug? Doug picked Hacket over Eric B. That alone should get him fired.
@Fox Sports Radio No, but it's two employees that work at the same company.
Remember when Jim irsay,”I’m glad he’s doesn’t have any coaching experience.” I knew that comment was going to bite him in the ass.
Not when it comes to that draft pick
Right now doug is saying he has it now. Lol

Doug x Rob = 🔥 🔥 🔥
3:30 😳 Pause
Including the play-in, 20 of the 30 teams make the "playoffs".
Doug and Rob the real Odd Couple
Give saturday a good full season with the colts.

Jeff seems like a great dude but why does he deserve this or another opportunity?
Doug is definitely drunk lol
Doug is always drunk
yep
Ooh great,, Nathaniel can't Hack it & Jeff not on Saturday or Sunday..Both horrific as NFL head coach hires.
It was Monday for Nathaniel Hackett and today is now Tuesday for Saturday 😏😏😏😏

So should they make a rule against family members getting hired ?. so we get no Shanahan no Mcvay
Isn't that the "Good ol 'Boys"System?(Mic Drop!)
This should be the odd couple because these 2 clearly dont like eachother and the only thing they agree on is Tom Brady should have stayed retired
