The line "Take off your clothes" is also a reference, with the whole concept of this scene being a reference to supposed subliminal moments from Disney movies. There was a rumor that, in the scene where Aladdin breaks into the Jasmine's room, there's a quick and quiet moment where he says "take off your clothes".
Specifically when rajah comes up to him on the balcony, and he's shooing him away. He says "take off." The her clothes part clearly never happens but people believe what they want to believe.
@@OsmSkylandersCheats It's when he's talking to Rajah just as Jasmine is starting to recognize him. Supposedly he said "Good girls take off their clothes."
i highkey love how this episode starts showing how dangerous Twisted Aladdin is. the fact he's an adult praying on a young girl is a joke at the start, but slowly you see him use tactics predators use irl; isolating her, making her feel special, lying about his past (/past encounters), encouraging her to have a sexual relationship with him despite her not wanting to by manipulating and hinting, slowly but surely getting more bold and bold and DANGEROUS. i really like that the show actually does treat it as the serious topic it is, but i seem to be one of the view who truly appreciate that
Same. And I like that even after all those tricks and lies and subliminals, and how the princess was buying it, it still doesn't work for her. "I can't wait til we're married." "Wait, not so fast." "Aladdin stop."
It is very good that this song demonstrates how dangerous predators can be, for sure. And I'm glad Jafar warned Princess ahead of time, so she was better equipped to resist tactics which may have otherwise worked on her. It's important to educate ourselves and our loved ones about these things!
It’s something I fully love and appreciate about this show. It takes the chance to be silly but also genuinely showcases real serious topics in a powerful way
Fun fact: the one audience member at 17:15 who says "I don't think so" when Jasmine asked if Jafar was right about Aladdin was Darren Criss, a member of Starkid Productions who was a co-songwriter and composer for some of their previous musicals.
Interestingly, "Make everyone a princess" is basically an extension of the Golden Rule. Because she's a princess everyone has to be nice to her, so if everyone was a princess everyone would be nice to each other!
Slight mini spoiler (kind of?) so don't read this if you haven't finished the show, just in case.... this isn't something you have to interpret, the show wraps it up nicely by stating this outright! That's definitely the point
"It's like if you cobbled together all the best features from all the best guys and gave him a tragic backstory" This is literally how Disney designed Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzherbert BTW.
He brings such a Jim Carrey energy to his performances, and in some choreography you can literally see him doing the squash and stretch of 2D animation, he's wonderful
I grew to love the princess’ character growth in this song, you can tell Jafar’s words rubbed off on her As much as she seems childish she’s also very observant
I'm actually so happy Mortius is now at the point of cackling at Starkid jokes! I know it wasn't quite hitting for him at first, but this musical really is a poster child when it comes to Starkid productions. Jokes out of left field, tear-jerking ballads too, constant whiplash while also being drawn into the different aspects of the story, breaking the 4th wall... They do it all, and each musical has moments so memorable they will draw you back in over and over again!
The SFX one is so good because it’s the most well known on of these Disney adult joke refs to this day, so even if you don’t immediately realise these are all direct references it can clue you in
And it’s also such a good joke because even if you don’t get the reference side of it, the audience can just interpret it as either princess not realizing what it actually does spell or Aladdin not making the leaves spell it correctly
Fun fact, the person in the audience who yells "I don't think so!" when everyone else is telling the Princess Aladdin is sussy in that 4th wall break was... Darren Criss, Glee star and Starkid founding member! He couldn't participate in the show because he'd gotten so busy with his acting career but got to be in the audience for this official recording!
This version of Jafar is somehow unironically one of the best Protagonists of all time. He isn’t perfect, but he tries. I can easily root for him, his actions make sense, and he’s very entertaining.

I felt so bad for Scott Weinger (voice of Aladdin) the first time I heard this. Before this musical, he spent his entire adulthood-he made the movie between 15 and 17- telling fans that Aladdin never said “good teenagers take off their clothes.” He said he was told to ad-lib the entire Aladdin and Rajah scene, but whisper. Scott said what he actually says in the scene is “good cat, down kitty, take off, go” and that he’d have been fired if he said anything so outrageous. Only Robin could get away with those jokes. Which, I mean… Aladdin and the King of Thieves anyone? Some of the dirtiest jokes in Disney and all but 1 comes from Genie. Scott ain’t wrong.
@@bandotaku Okay, I’m not going to list every single one. And he is pointing to a group of brothel ladies. He also changes the clothes of a couple women wearing modest clothes into “naughty” outfits. 2- When Genie finds Aladdin at his old hovel- A: there’s something I need; Genie: Gotcha! It’s a bachelor party, big boy! Genie says as he’s dressed like a stripper and is popping out of a cake. Do I really need to explain why big boy is a dirty joke in this context? 🤔 3- Aladdin says he came to get his father’s dagger for the wedding. Genie says it’s “very sharp” and “an interesting nuptial accessory”. And he pretends to be very nervous. There is a thing called knife kink and you know Robin was possibly thinking about that if he pretended to be all nervous while recording that scene. 4- When the elephant breaks into the wedding Genie says to himself “I thought the earth wasn’t supposed to move till the honeymoon.” 5- When Genie is trying to cheer up Jasmine his entire bit is a series of double entendres 6- during Genie’s song about Cassim and Aladdin he sings the lyrics “I see fruit on the family tree/you’ll be great as a grumpy old grandpa/bouncing babies on your knee.” And the one not from the Genie is of course the way Aladdin grabs Jasmine and raises his eyebrows right after they say goodbye to Cassim. The way he looks at her, the way she responds, their kiss. It’s all innuendo for the adults who know what happens next.
