I do have issues with no opportunity of release for defendants convicted under a certain age, as all of us are less cognizant of repercussions in our teenage years. Violent crimes involving SA or a victim under the age of 18 can be mitigating. Also statistics prove out that people of color are more likely to get harsher punishments overall regardless of the presence or absences of violence. The number of minorities compared to Anglo inmates imprisoned under the "three strikes" law is the absolute evidence for a imbalance justice system.
