What I liked was the press wasn't very aggressive, it seemed quite passive but rather so well coordinated that at multiple moments an arsenal player would be covered by red. Also how narrow and compact they defended the box seemed quite impressive

@@ghettablkgffbdon't take me wrong , I am a big klopp fan he is the legend but I think by his playing style it is obviously difficult to win the league every time especially in prem which is so physical , and usually our players did ran out of stream in multiple seasons.

@@Mersey0810 The only reason we ran out of steam all the time in previous seasons same like last is that we never know when to slow down our play cause of Klopp's heavy metal football, we would attack aggressively leaving so much spaces for teams to exploit.

Agreed. I absolutely adored Klopp but I can’t lie, I was ready for something new and it seems like football might be moving towards a more technical and nuanced approach with the rise of arteta, xabi and the pep protégés, I think after time, ideas and things can get stale. I think more than Klopp, what’s made a bigger change is a whole new coaching staff bringing in fresh ideas. 9 years of hearing the same message… sometimes it’s a good thing to change things up. For the coaching staff too. I’m sure they’re all enjoying new challenges wherever they ended up.
The constant high intensity press I think eventually started burning the players out and this will probably help not only prevent injuries but allow them to maintain their intensity for the whole season instead of until about March every other season.
I’m intrigued to see where this goes. No doubt there will be some dips but Slot looks like he’s extremely clear on what he wants and is good at getting his message across. The players all seem to be loving it too.

Having a change in tactics is certainly what Liverpool needed, we have the squad to win the league but I feel like Klopps tactics were not as great as they use to be. We needed something new but similar also therefore I trust Arne Slot!

Thanks for the analysis of Slot's football. The buildup play, the overloads and the upward press at the opponent's half are quite new, and I love it. The unpredictability at the buildup phase will definitely be Slot's style, the squad should be well drilled. Forcing the opponent's to play wide through counter press is valuable too. All in all, I see a different Liverpool come next season. Can't wait for it to start already.

Makes me realise what a visionary my school football coach was. I'm going back to 1980, we were taught to always provide teammates with two passing options, ideally one sideways and one forward. We were coached to control the ball first time and pass It forward on the deck into space for players who would be running on. (At the time, English football was all about getting It up the pitch aerially to the big target man,.possibly one of the reasons we failed to qualify for tournaments, let alone win them.) It meant we constantly moved and shifted positions and hardly ever lost the ball. Because of this we didn't concede many either. V similar to the Liverpool style of play at the time, they played great football and conceded v few. Nothing in football is new, it's hard to beat clever movement, good close control and good coaching. I love Klopp but his adherence to mainly one style of play came undone against the very best teams who could counter with speed and skill. Slot has an amazing platform to build on and I'm looking forward to seeing our most creative players hopefully flourish.

The beauty of having Slot implement his ideas at Liverpool is that he has a much better group of players than he had at Feyenoord. Once this Liverpool team gets to grips with his style of play then we should start to look really, really good.

@3:47 Ødegaard signals for someone to support him and press Szoboszlai, @3:49 he throws his arms up in exasperation when Szoboszlai receives it with no one pressing him. A simple pass to Jones, who finds Elliott's lateral run nicely, whose lay-off allows Quansah to advance, forcing Arsenal to turn. Another lay-off from Carvalho and Bradley's run inside allows Elliott to release Salah in space. Very methodical. I have to sympathise with Ødegaard!! ;0)

Slot is a master in implementing his vision FAST.
He did this at Feyenoord too. Won the league after 9 out of 11 starting players of the previous season left. See, his vision is one thing, but his ability to make players individually better is insane. At Feyenoord, he even made our worst players play better and the biggest talents grew exceptionally. This man is a genius. I’m a Feyenoord fan but my “2nd” club has always been Liverpool. He’s going to destroy the whole premier league with Liverpool.

Early days yet. The players will take sometime to adjust. The players coming back only have a short period before the Ipswich game. It will be a good few months I imagine before they're playing like he wants them too.
But we needed a bit of a change. Last season we let in far too many goals and if not for the brilliance of Alli, we'd have lost a lot of games.

yeah I think someone more mobile like Jota could work well. No shade on Nunez though I think both can do well, it gives liverpool a lot of options

I think AS will be very successful at Liverpool and not unlikely to become more successful as far as silverware goes. He inherits one of the best teams in Europe from 9 years of master JK so he has a perfect base to build on in every way. He is not JK and should not be but they are not far from each other. It will probably be a bit slower though. One of the best fanbase of any team that can often be as a 12th player.

That build up structure certainly plays into the favor of teams that press in a 442
It makes the work a lot easier for them

Why are people saying trent should be on the bench? We now play a style that better passing abilities would be even more ideal. I believe Trent will fit perfectly in this system and hes the best at doing switches.

Ithink still a lot of work to be done with the new Coach Arne Slot to get rid of those 1- Ibrahima -2- Tsimakis 3-Robertson4-Endo-Gravebenberch-5- Rhys William 6- Nathiel Phillip 7-Diaz 8- Nunez-9-Ben Doak10-Kelleher (Jarros by far is better than him) 11-Jota because is unable to play formation 4-2-3-1 Under Arne Slot..
