You are right the wording was a little harsh... It's far more fight dependent now, fights where the group isn't taking much damage like Oax or what have you I wouldn't use destructive clench anymore to free up bar space. The other major reason I don't see Destructive Clench used much anymore is how prevalent Sorc tanks are and their ability to apply Major Maim in AoE very easily. But ye I do agree the wording is a little harsh towards Destructive Clench.
Most of the Time you are running Sax + Powerful Assault so you can just BB Sax and FB PA this lets you use a Monster set + a mythic if you really want to. If not you can run Sax / PA Body - Sax FB - Master's Ice Staff or and random 2 piece prefer if it gives an Armor bonus BB & Jewelry - PA This is a little unorganized but ye this is typically what i would do. I've yet to try double Ice Stave, but seems even with double ice stave you don't use trifocus i'm already scared, no stam = watch me on the floor, on the other hand 36% block cost reduction.... hmmm... 🙂 In the oax footage you don't run anything for major breach? Ii'm assuming its covered somewhere else in the group then?
It can but you have a 2 second cast time on an ability that we can already get most of its buffs. With how fast trash dies the cast time really hurts the skill.
What about the ability to run two 1p sets on sword and shield, for example 1p Trainee+1p Druid Braid, and arena sets like puncturing remedy, void bash, and the defensive posture one.
So you can run two 1p sets and I do on Arcanist but it ends up the same out come, more Maximum Attributes and both 1 piece sets are Max Health which is kinda whatever as a stat. Arena sets in general are super Niche, Puncturing Remedy is good however the Armor you get from it only last 5 seconds taunt last 15. The heal is alright but your better off using your classes base heal 90% of the time. The Perfected 3%? healing received is nice in certain fights. Void Bash is really only useful on trash packs in Dungeons or a couple of Trial fights but you never actually need it. Defensive position I have only ever used once and only because I wanted to use something stupid. It really doesn't do much 2200 magicka restore for reflecting a projectile isn't as good as it sounds. Tanks Magicka recovery is already so high that doesn't really effect them sustain wise. Most the Arena sets are niche use cases. Even for Ice Staffs, the Masters Ice staff is only used because it reduces the cost by whatever % it is. The 600 Wpn/Spl damage doesn't help all that much. This is also just my opinion on it I don't typically use Arena weapons. (I've been using the masters Ice Staff recently without Destructive clench just because I'm to lazy to go find a Set where the 2p is useful).
Depends a lot on class and what you are doing. if you are playing a Arcanist you can make use of 2 1pc sets that give the Arc slightly higher health. However Ice Staff is more likely going to be better in 4 man due to Bar space and needing to provide more because you have less supports. As for trials is pretty much whatever your more comfortable with. I will basically always choose Ice Staffs for flexibility with bar space.

I wouldn't say destructive clench is useless, that major maim definitely makes a difference, I'm seeing tanks run both clench and inner fire

In that Oax a healer was in charge of ele sus don't remember what i replaced it with but was probably nothing good
