Knitting an Outfit with Dollar Tree Yarn

In March of 2023 I set out to knit (on the LK150 Knitting Machine) an outfit made with ONLY Dollar Tree Yarn, but quickly gave up on the project because as you'll see in the video, the knitting machine is harder than it looks!
After putting the knitting machine in storage for a while the project became a little "out of sight out of mind" until recently y'all asked me... "Whatever happened to the Dollar Tree yarn outfit???" and I'm SO glad you did!
I had a lot of fun getting out my LK 150 Knitting machine and learning to use it again. With the nerve damage in my arm, I've been unable to crochet as much as I used to and this has been such a fun way to make things with yarn again!
This project ended up taking about 25 skeins of yarn from Dollar Tree with a cost total of roughly $32, and it took me the better part of three days to complete.
Overall I liked working with the Dollar Tree yarn. It's not my favorite yarn I've ever used but it's a solid yarn. You can definitely get cheaper yarn when you buy bigger skeins BUT if you're just starting out and want a cheap option for practice yarn, Dollar Tree yarn might be the way to go!

Knitting machines have a big learning curve, yet people consider it “not really handmade” if it’s made with a knitting machine. Someone still has to sit there and take time, make sure there are no hiccups, and stitch everything in the right way after. And someone is making it by their own will, not in a sweat shop or something.
People just forget that, the machine is run by hand!!
Its not an automated Machine!
right a knitting machine you run by hand (like hers not electric) is a tool the same way knitting needles are lol

You were so patient to keep going! Any time my yarn comes off or it gets stuck or something goes wrong, I usually just undo everything 😂 love the video!

Dollar tree yarn is one of my favorite yarns I crochet and knit in the process of learning how to use a sewing machine. I’m not gonna say knitting machines are not making a product that is not handmade. I think it’s homemade but I find knitting machines to be way more complicated than knitting, but I can see how would be easier for someone I love your videos so much you have helped me with my crochet so many times you have to be one of my favorite TH-camrs

I think you just gave me the solution to my crochet sweater problem, I don’t use a pattern and startet with the arms and crocheting them round, but I didn’t know how to fix the shoulder, by using a dropped shoulder for the mid section everything should work out. THANK YOU ^-^ 8:07

I made hats and mittens for my kids using dollar tree yarn! I know I could have just bought them hats and gloves there but I needed to break in my sentro lol

I bought a bunch of cotton yarn from a dollar store with the idea to make a blanket. Its a stiff yarn and i have no idea what me from last year was thinking, this yarn is not for blankets and i didnt even have enough for a blanket. I had bought a flannel blanket to go behind to make it softer and warmer. My way of making it fit is use another yarn I have a bunch of and do a round on all the squares i have, a couple rounds around it all and it will fit the flannel, and then add a border. It should serve me well until I can make a better blanket 😂😂
A good use for cotton yarn is cat toys if you have a cat or know someone with a cat!
